- The exam was maybe a bit more detailed than I expected. When said in the guidance for studying to the exams some parts were noted as "generall knowledge how it works", while on the exam that knowledge was not enough.» (To some extent)
- the exam was too long and so boring, I think it was not neccessary to cover all the chapters of the literature. I believe a good exam can evaluate the comprehension of the student with fewer, but more beautiful questions! the questions which make the student think and use what he has learned and then answer, not just to take back what they have memorized. » (To some extent)

- This was the worst litterature I have ever had. It"s thick, old and irrelevant and way to much. In some parts it is stated " for internal use in company X only.." This should not be course litterature. » (Not good)
- It was so messy, and many parts overlapped eachother and made me confused when studying, also took more time. » (Not good)
- It is really consist of many methods, althought it is good for us to find them out as produntion engineer, but it takes more than a one course!» (Not good)

- Would be better if PPT slides were always put up on the webpage the day before the lecture.» (Rather well)
- some of the slides were kept too congested and it was difficult to read them afterwards. all the extra material that are discussed on slides and are important but not on the course binder (such as in surface topography) should be clarified in terms such as: where to access more information from (could be text books, web sites etc), the depth of penetration etc.» (Very well)

- There is a great barrier between swedish and foreign students, both in terms of language and knowledge level.» (Very poorly)
- Working with students from different countries can be a good experience, for sure, but there were a lot of complications between us because we were not used to plan projects in the same way. Maybe there shouldnt be a must to mix groups...» (Rather poorly)

- We need to have more lab classes so that we can also achieve the practical implimentation of the literature. Anyway, we have learned from the Labs but we need more lab class.» (To some extent)

- MQL and Abrasive water jet cutting were completely new. the lab gave a clearer picture of the facts covered in the course material.» (Great extent)

- Silly and basic project (high-school level), but good to get to know each other.» (Somewhat meaningful)
- the project subjects were too general. they could be more limited (like, to a special application of a process). the projects were actually what we could find in the literature! not anything new.» (Somewhat meaningful)
- in terms of indepth analysis, communication with fellow students and improving the presentation skills.» (Very meaningful)
- Improve presentation skills, learn group study quite effectively, I think, we can have another presentation at the middle of the course so that student can have an idea about the requirement of the final presentation skill.» (Very meaningful)

20 svarande

Not interesting»2 10%
Somewhat interesting»2 10%
Quite interesting»8 40%
Very interesting»8 40%

Genomsnitt: 3.1

- As a simple visitor point of view, it was interesting. but as a student, it was not what I expected and not about technical issues. the production line visit was just a quick walk around the factory and no process was visible. » (Somewhat interesting)
- We should have more visit at a term, since, we missed the Volvo visit. there is no dought that we have learned through the factory visit.» (Quite interesting)
- I liked the visist but I think it could have been much better. I think a course like this deserve a customized visit, with more focus on the machines and the cutting processes, not just a "walk-around-the factory-visit".» (Quite interesting)
- it is always good to know the actual way and working conditions of the manufacturing methods. » (Very interesting)

Not interesting»2 10%

Very interesting»2 10%

Genomsnitt: 2.55

- Sandvik tools were not that good though.» (Somewhat interesting)
- some were good (Hard turning). others were not very intersting partly because they started from a very advanced level. a brief summary of the topics and back ground information prior to such guest lectures (rather than afterwards) would have been of a great help because then, we would be able to skim the lecture.» (Somewhat interesting)
- I think they could be better. I felt they had a business view when giving information, and they were a kind of conservative when talking about new technologies in their company.» (Somewhat interesting)
- the course about metal tooling is not interesting» (Somewhat interesting)
- Since we missed the course binder, it is not that useful at all. It should be offered as extra lectures, not the main ones!» (Somewhat interesting)
- SKF was the best of them (pedagogic)» (Quite interesting)
- I did not consider anyone special but I think all of them were good. we have learned through industrial professionals which are really helpful. » (Quite interesting)
- I think the guest lecturer need more information about the student"s level of knowledge, in order to prepare the lecture better.» (Quite interesting)

Summarizing questions

20 svarande

Poor»1 5%
Fair»3 15%
Adequate»3 15%
Good»12 60%
Excellent»1 5%

Genomsnitt: 3.45

- Mostly because of lack in language communication from teachers side.» (Fair)
- I personally expected the course to be more exciting, since it was about modern processes in manufacturing. although it was good for giving me a general idea about modern processes, i was not absorbed to read more, search more and attend eagurly to the lectures. » (Adequate)
- I think we need more time to complete the full course. or we may have shorter course materials to complete within this 6-7 weeks, so that we can learn more effectively. » (Good)
- I liked the course,it is an interesting topic and I enjoyed to learn more about it. » (Good)

18. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- all!»
- more practical. for example a total of 5 labs and no SKF visit. »
- The litterature was too detailed and sometimes not so exciting to read, even if the subject is really interesting.»
- The approach to cover broad methods of manufacturing, group work etc.»
- The goals of the course and the factory visits.»
- factory visit»
- the general syllabus»
- factory visit and lab time»
- The factory visit. It is very interesting and helpful to connect theory and practice. »
- Labs and factory visits»
- everything should include with more effective updated materilas. »
- It feels like many of the teachers has problem with language, its hard to get knowledge from them who cant speak well. Its not got, especially when they"re able to explain things in swedish but not english. »
- the movies illustrating the processes and factory visit»
- The lab and the group assignment!»
- The overall organistaion of the course with about one cutting method per week and some labs was very good. »

19. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- nothing»
- Course litterature.»
- The out look of the guest lectures should be changed. students should have a knowledge and basic information before hand about the lecures they are supposed to attend.»
- the literature, the teacher»
- nothing»
- Nothing»
- Make the Volvo (or som other) visit.»
- the course should carry some marks or points like 50% on the group assignment. we did a hard task but may not know the evaluation from our effort. it may be bad or good but we did the effort more than a month to prepare the report and we did presentation too. so, I think few points can be put on the group assignment.»
- As I mentioned, maybe should gain some points of the examination, and of course lesson the number of methods to be able to dig into them a little more instead. Since it could be useful to gain something more than now from some special methods. I don"t know maybe it was too much chapters to say in one, but could be better to take at least two courses instead. I myself think that it was not a good start!»
- The class room and the projector didn"t work at all. I can"t understand why we had a class room without proper curtains, when all the lectures where based on powerpoint presentations.»

20. Additional comments

- Make sure the factory visits will happen (very interesting), in so small groups as possible. Perhaps with questions to ansver after every visit to encourage questions during the visit.»
- All in all, the course was very good. Apart from some of the guest lectures, classes were very interesting. information about the courses linked to MMP should be given to the students at the closing part of the course in more detailed manner. this will help students still in dilemma about which track to choose from.»
- I think Gustav is very responsible for this course.»
- I am really happy with the attitude of the Professor and Guest Lecturer. As an International student I may not have an instant comments right at this moment but I think Chalmers will be the right place for me to build up my career. I wanted to see that I have made the right choice by selecting Chalmers. I hope and wish that Chalmers will assist me to fulfill my aim. »
- I think that it is a good idea to mix foreign studients in work assignement.»
