Genomsnitt: 4.13 (bidrar till totalt genomsnitt/jämförelseindex) - Strange feeling of the course. The course had really good assignments. The lecturenotes was good and a lot of work was put to understand all steps that were made. The notes were really concise and very hard to follow by your own. I got the feeling that the lectures didn´,t help to go through every detail and then the math became really unpleasant for us students with absolute no background knowledge e.g. in differentiating matrices and so on. Another thing that was not so good was the tasks that were calculated on the exercises.

- The overall impression of the course is good. There are things that definitely can be improved. The first thing: More practical examples during lectures! It was hard to make the practical connections yourself. And also, i would like to have more detailed explanations and derivations during lectures - it was some times hard to sort out the details yourself, especially when more andvanced linear algebra was involved.
Second: A practical lab would be good to have - to really get the connection to reality.
I also have to give extra creds to Faisal who did a really good job with the excerises and hand-ins. His exercices were very good which helped ALOT during the learning process. Altough, he could have been a little bit nicer during the oral examination.. hehe. » (Good)
- Everything was good. The lectures, the exercises, and the home problems. On top of that we got to visit PreefRaf. Bo seems to understand, unlike Balazs and Paolo Falcone, that lecturing a theoretical/mathematical course is best done with the help of the blackboard and not exclusively power point slides. Faisal did a good job on the exercise sessions and also took the time to write solutions to the exercises which is a good thing. The home assignments/hand ins felt well designed, their content relevant and interesting. This course somewhat compensated for Linear Control System Design for the understanding of LQ controllers and cost functions in general.» (Excellent)

- The assignments played a great role in learning the course and should definately be preserved. I really appreciated the company visit which was relevant for the course. First company during four years at Chalmers, would be interesting to have in more courses. I liked the oral examination because it gives the students a possibilty to explain things that was unclear in the report and to gain more understaning. »

- The TA"s in-depth questions during the oral exams dealing with the material that was beyond the scope of the assignments were very, very good.
There"s a very big difference between understanding the material thoroughly and just answering some questions, I"m very glad that the course used the assignments as a method of getting us to the point where we did have a more complete understanding. Without the oral exam assessment of the otherwise pass/fail assignments, the course would have been missing something important.
The tour of Preemraff was also very interesting and insightful.»

15. What should definitely be changed to next year?- Don"t make the field trip in week 7, I was planning to join but I couldn"t find the time for it. I know many other people has the same oppinion»
- new textbook this year - more solutions to the exercises. »
- I read all related chapters in the textbook and I feel that 729 kr wasn"t worth it. The lecture notes were much better. The textbook didn"t give much extra good information.»
- The second assignment was too demanding. The third felt pointless.»
- The assignments could be handed out earlier so one can get familiar with the material. No need to wait to an explicit date to hand them out in my opinion.»
- Repeat the basic stuff a little more.»

- More clear in the beginning with the terminology words like DP, Reference, Target, Setpoints and so on. (Horizon was very well explained this yeah tho so does not need to improve in my opinion)»

- The final assignment was trivial enough to be pointless. There should be a more rigorous assignment dealing with optimization and stability. Having easier assignments towards the end doesn"t benefit the students at all when the topics that the assignments skip over feature prominently on the exams.»

- Great and interesting topic covered in the course. It was clear that modelpredictive control is in some way an quite exotic method of control which surely will be interesting for us students in the future.»

- The course could be much better, it needs time to develop. I think the course was really interesting but needs time to be better. Much to do!»
- It"s a shame that many other master courses, like Mechatronic Design, Modeling and Simulation and Linear Control System Design
does not live up to the standard of this course and others from the Signals and Systems deparment. Model Predictive Control and Mechatronic Design were like night and day, the former one of the best thus far and the latter by far the worst.»
