- The teaching was on some theory of mission statements, diesel engines etc (with Francesco) but the project demanded from us much deeper knowledge on engine dimensioning and electrical balance (especially those two parts I think). The electrical balance done in the projects was a complete out of the blue call... the numbers were guessed because we were lacking information. Same thing for the engine dimensioning, we could have some time given in the lecture to explain how to properly chose an engine from a given power. I felt like we just googled a bunch of engine brands and picked one that somewhat matched a power requirement. Is that how they do it in the real world?» (To some extent)

- We were not aware enough of what parameters to toggle with in order to improve efficiency. It was guess work. That tutorial would have been way more helpful by the end when we were actually trying to find an efficient propeller for our project.» (Small extent)

- The project took a lot of times while the other course (Composite Mechanics) also had some time consuming assignments. Specially close to the exams.» (High)

- Except for the propeller lectures, the rest of them was pretty poor.» (Fair)
- In general the course content is fine but the it is unstructured. For instance we should know from the beginging of the design project that it counts 60 % procents. Everybody in the class thought it was 50-50 between the exam and the project. » (Adequate)
- I really liked the course because hydrodynamics is what I want to work with later on. Also engine stuff and supporting systems on the ship are very interesting topics I think. I was hooked.» (Good)

- More guidance on the project to avoid guess work. More care and time given to the 2 assignments (or just remove them). Better communication about what is expected to us is crucial. We had no clue how deep our work was supposed to be in the project. We also did not know the course"s grading system»

- The course should be more structured and the guest lector should be removed. »
