- Most of the assignments do not teach us anything but only give us mark on something we haven"t been taught about. This course could have been much more helpful. I totally regret having it.» (No, not at all)

- Having in mind the manner in which the lectures have been lead by the some of the teachers I definitelly cannot decide whether an exam is an issue. You better make Mats more energetic person and you better make the teachers actually teaching instead of asking us questions and putting us in a strange groups. » (I do not know)

- In the passive safety report we were asked to mention the "state of the art" in the safety systems. YOU BETTER TEACH US A LITTLE BIT OF STATE OF THE ART BEFORE ASKING US TO PUT IT IN A REPORT!»

- It was very messy and confusing with different teachers saying different things and putting upp different things on random places at the web page.» (Very badly)

- The assistants have been very nice and helpful with for example questins regarding the crash test laboration» (Very good)
- Asking question is never an issue in Chalmers. The problem was that the reponce was never quite helpful. » (Very good)

- The course on its own, is adequate, whereas unfortunately, it being paired with another subject in the study term made things difficult as a whole. » (Adequate)

- It is a very messy course with confusing information "flying around", changing and so on.» (Poor)
- An extremely interessting subject like Vehicle and Traffic Safety was made absolutelly boring and not helpfull. As Gothenburg is the heart of the safety in the automotive business I defiinitelly expected more. » (Poor)

- As like every assignment in this course the instructions for the laboration was poor and you couldn"t read what was expected from you, you didn"t get the task until it was to late. And if it is a group work, every one in the group should present the work and not only one of us.» (Fair)

- Funny to do but not so much to learn, the report was to hard corrected, should pass for some small errors.» (Good)
- Interesting. The post-processing of data was the part that took a lot of time.» (Good)

- Also interesting and fun to try LS-DYNA. Some minor problems with the key file before it was possible to run the simulation though. Hard to find the problem when not having any pre-knowledge of the program.» (Good)

- I still cannot understand why we had to write it. All we had to do is to search the internet and put the information in maximum two pages. On top of that we had to mention a lot of things in this two pages. The task was not clearly stated in the assignment.» (Poor)
- The review was hard to understand (better lectures about this could help) and had to few pages, need more space to do a good work.» (Adequate)
- Feedback came too late. The assignment requirement was not very clear and I did not know what exactly I was asked to write, because too many aspects are mentioned in the instructions but I don"t think it"s a good idea to cover them all in one review. A review as part of a larger paper should be focused. Maybe there can be an example whose style we can follow.» (Adequate)
- I would have give the assignment a higher grade if we got the results from the assignment and the peer review back in time and not the day before Christmas. There were said that we would get a chance to upgrade the assignment but we got it back to late to do that. I think that it is reasonable that it won"t take 5 weeks to get a assignment back.» (Adequate)
- But really bad that we got it back around Christmas when we hand it in in study week 3(which means about 5-6 weeks later). It makes the opportunity to correct and resend poorly since it has taken so long time since we wrote the text...» (Good)
- When I did my assignment I was a little bit confused due to the fact that I did not know if I should concentrate more on the injury biomechanics or I should concentrate on the safety devices. I don"t think I had a very good ending for my paper. Moreover, I think that you should give a number words limit instead of page limitation. The two pages limitation was kind of small if you take in account that both injury biomechanism and devices would be discussed. But, the idea of the assignment was pretty good.» (Good)

- in my group there were two student participating in chalmers formula student, and they did not do much in the assignment, I recommend when the groups are made , the student who are doing chalmers formula should be divided equally in the all groups» (Fair)
- Not good with random new people where everyone had different aims.» (Fair)
- Strange to hand out a group assignment and then say that "you just need to agree on the work division and on a leader, you can do it by e-mail or on facebook" - which means that you dont necessarily need to meet your colleges and then there is no group assigment, thats my point of view. » (Fair)
- The assignment was good but it was to hard to have a extra group to work with at this point. If we could work in the same group as in passive we could focus more on the assignment than on getting to know people which I don"t think is the purpose of this course.» (Fair)
- The idea is good, but maybe it could be an idea to have the same groups in both the active and the passive parts? I know about learning to work with different people, but since the work is carried out in parallel with the passive tasks, i gets hard to coordinate with other students.» (Adequate)
- We have problem concentrating on it because there was at the same time the lab work. The latter also took a lot of time and it was not even rated.» (Good)
- It was quite good, the only deficit was the fact that I had some free riders in my team and I noticed that the day before sending in the assignment so I lost sufficient time trying to do their part in a very short time.» (Good)

15. How did you like the demo with the XC60 city safety? Any suggestion for next year?

- Maybe better weather conditions. I would have liked to see where the system goes wrong, otherwise it looked like a Volvo commercial to some extent.» (Good)

- It was very enthusiastic and helped us see the systems come alive. More of similar events would promote the overall appeal of the course towards interested students.» (Excellent)

16. Please give feedback to the teachers! Do you suggest any particular change about the lecture contents and their presentation?

- I think the active safety should be taught before the passive safety, because the active safety has more assignment to do .»
- Discussions are often good, but replacing "supermandatory" lectures with discussions on kinder garden level is not worthy a course on a Masters progam in my opinion. The "Teaching effort" on these lectures are not to high, which is a shame when I believe the teachers are very skilled within their areas of expertise. It is also nice when the lecturer are in front of the audience and not behind.... »
- Better with lectures than to discuss something we do not know. If someone sleeps it is their problem I want to learn. Marcos way to teach is annoying but good!»
- Passive safety lectures need to be less generic and more specific. Some of the lectures had overlap. »
- Nothing much.»
- Lectures in Active Safety could contain some introduction to the algorithms or the electronics used. TO give the student an overview of the complexity of these systems.»
- It was good, and helped us get involved with the course. »
- I think that the teachers gave their best and I appreciate their effort. The assistants for the experimental part were very helpful. »

- At least explain one active and one passive safety system, but explain them fully. In details. What is the difference between a person who search the web and me, who is studying that subject. I cannot see it. If you can, please do describe it. »
- 100 Car assignment was good and should be kept.»
- Laboratory and the guest lecture where we come up with crazy ideas about future safety systems.»

- The assignment were well balanced so I think you should keep them.»
- The literature review in passive if you could correct it in time and the group assignment in active if you come up whith a better way to organize the group and to present the work, the wiki page was very bad»
- Active part was very good except the 100car which popped out suddenly at the end. Passive part should be better specially during the lab assignment.»

18. What should definitely be changed to next year?

Please comment both the passive and the active parts of the course.

- The amount of "discussion lectures" and having many different group configurations should be changed.»
- The big groups with different people. Lowers the grade. »
- Please do put only question for "What should definitely be changed for the next year?" and skip the previous one. It will save you time and it will prevent stupid answers. »
- 100 car assignment should be measured in the total grade.»
- There could be more interaction on the passive safety review assignment. The assignment can be broken into several steps so that we don"t rush it the last few days before the deadline.»
- I found the lectures on passive safety very cliche and redundant. More lectures on active safety by dynamic control and handling would add value.»
- Not have two report handins and two presentations on the same day»
- DONT have 2 deadlines AND 2 presentations on the same day. Dont first force us to make groups of 6 students for one assignment and then split us in another group of 5 persons. It is tough enough to match schedules and stuff for 5 persons, its really hard with 10 people!»
- Lecture material should be made more technical. Examination could be introduced.»
- The passive safety literature review assignment, the format should be changed because I feel we can learn more if the format was like the active safety assignment. »
- Maybe you could find a solution to solve the problem with the free riders for the active assignment, I know that can be really difficult.»
- In both part the organization need to be changed. The students need to know what"s expected from them in a clear way and it should also be easy to find the information you need. »
- The lab and 100car.»
- The 100 car assignment seemed to provide anecdotal information. Knowing how many 40yr old women crashed when it was cloudy out really benefits me in no way. Just knowing that if you want, the info is out there is enough.»

- I think you have to listen to the students more and what they think is bad and not ignore it like you have done the last two years. I know that the same things that we think is wrong this year the students before us have told you I you didn"t care to change anything.»

20. Active and passive safety are further discussed in the courses TME191 Active Safety and TME196 Impact Biomechanics. Are you planning attending any of them? Please, explain why.

- Impact Biomechanics I will not take for sure due to the fact that other courses present a greater interest to me. My decision does not regard the way that the VTS course was conducted. Nonetheless , Active Safety could be an option for the next year, but it"s too soon to take an definite decision. But, if I would had the chance to take one of the courses this quarter (the third one) I would have taken one of the safety courses.» (No)
