Genomsnitt: 2.75 - But the exam questions are of a "tricky" kind, that is they are not testing knowledge and if the course goals are reached but more if you are able to see the "trick" needed to solve the task.
Further, the exam questions are WAY harder than the exercises.
It"s rather mean to say "we take this briefly cause it"s not so important" at the lecture when going through the proof that was on the exam...» (To some extent)

Genomsnitt: 3.2 - I was one of a few that showed up for the first scheduled lecture which apparently was canceled with out any of us getting any notice.
Also, though the pingpong site was well updated the other website was not as well updated and it took me a while before I understood there was a pingpong site.» (Rather badly)
- Some documents were from previous periods when the course was given and it took quite some time for e.g. the document with recommended excercises to be updated.» (Rather well)
- Hand outs should be posted at least within 24 hours before the exam. » (Rather well)
- I remembered that some old exams with answers contained some mistakes, but when I try to recall which ones, I only recalled mistakes in older exams that apparently weren"t on the new course page. E.g. minus sign in 2009-08-28, problem 3, and a missing minus sign in 2010-01-13 problem 4.» (Very well)

- I believe the workload was too high. Not in the sense that the course was unreasonably difficult but between a project in two parts and two computer labs there was little time to work with the recommended excercises which is invaluable for the learning process (at least for me personally).» (Too high)

- I felt we never really digged deep into the methods used for optimization. I would have prefered a little more focus on the algorithms.» (Good)
- I was surprised at first to encounter so much linear programming since the course is called nonlinear optimization at Chalmers. I think introduction to optimization might be the better name.» (Good)

- The course is very interesting and brilliantly fun. Somewhat tricky to get an intuitive understanding of stuff at an early stage in the course. Had to do more calculations than usual to understand concepts.» (Excellent)
14. What should definitely be preserved to next year?- Bonussystems worked very well as a motivation to keep up with the pace of the course. I really appreciated the master classes as an oppurtunity to get a further insight in the area and work with something more advanced in a pretty casual manner.»

- The exercise sessions with a brief repetition of wha t was said on earlier lectures were very well. »
- Bonus point system made sure that eventhough high workload in my other course I stayed somewhat in phase.»
- Bonus system for pass/fail level. It"s a good carrot for starting with exercises from week 1.»

- The main problem of this course is related to TA s of it.This course is very important in my major and i think its too hardfor them to teach or arrange the lecture classes I think if the main teacher was available in lectures then it was useful ,although i appreciate their work, they are not experienced for this course maybe some easier course would be better to teach by TA s. thank to all.»

15. What should definitely be changed to next year?- In my opnion using slides fot the lectures makes it more difficult to follow. If possible i would like this changed. If kept it would be helpful to have the slides available earlier (this year they were sometimes uploaded the same morning when the classes started at 8 am).»
- I did not find computer lab 1 or project part 2 very educating. Either or both could possibly be removed.»

- De föreberedda uppgifterna borde inte alltid redovisas, iallafall inte alla. det tog jättelång tid att sitta igenom och gav inte så mycket att se någon annans lösning när man reda gjort uppgiften. Dessutom höll redovisningarna låg kvalite tyvärr.»
- Condense the number of theorems slightly. Also don"t rush through the proofs too fast when presented on lecture. »
