Genomsnitt: 5 Goals and goal fulfilmentThe course syllabus states the course goals in terms of learning outcomes, i.e., knowledge, skills and attitudes to be acquired by the student during the course.Aim The thematic of the design studio is planning and design for sustainable development in a small or medium sized municipality in Sweden. The aim of the studio is: - to increase knowledge and understanding of the planning and development problems as well as possibilities of small and medium sized municipalities/communities/towns in the perspective of sustainable development. - to train the ability to describe, analyse and interpret a local situation in a broad perspective, including spatial and architectural characteristics as well as environmental, social and economic aspects. - to, with a point of departure in an understanding of place, in a local as well as in a broader context, work out and try visionary principles of planning and design of spatial structures and the built environment, in support of a sustainable development. What should definitely be preserved to next year?- The presentation in Mariestad (or Tidaholm next year) - really fun and intresting to hear what the politicians and inhabitants think of the projects. The general repitition before the final presentation was also really helpful! The parties is nice and brings the group together. »- different groups in different parts, students get to know everyone in the studio» - Teachers, Coordinators» - The structure, the lectures and people responsible. The numerous smaller presentations during autumn build confidence for the final presentation.» - Allt utom litteraturuppgiften.» - 1)Professors first of all. 2)Common trip during the first week binds together all the students. 3)Literature studies. » - the wonderful teachers! the great layout of the course. the pep-talking and genuine care for the students. the special focus on team spirit. the time spent on practicing presentation-skills. » - Design phase ofcourse (just prolong it with a week atleast). What should definitely be changed to next year?- Maybe cut down on the compulsory litterature, or give us more time to read it. »- Content of some lectures, so information doesnt repeats too much, book about sust, development and methods, should be read way before selecting which themes the group is going to work with » - Urban farming week.» - Se över innehållet och upplägget av temaveckan. Ta bort litteraturuppgiften.» - 5 days more for in depth projects.» - one seminar would be enough, or maybe skip the book summary? I don´,t think anyone actually uses it afterwards. » - Would be better to have a week to prepare (questions/general knowledge about the city etc.) before the first study trip. » - part A to be shorter» - 1. tutors that have prior knowledge of our site so they can actually be helpful. Krystal was the worst tutor I have had in my entire academic life 2. The broader context was not useful and that time would have been better spent on design 3. The expected level of work was too low. This course seems to be at the level of first year bachelors for me. 4. More time with tutors and maybe some more lectures would have been more helpful than seminars or book reviews » - A new approach to the urban farming week.» - Maybe to try to get more difference between the projects? Many delt, finally, with sort of the same things. Encourage and suggest new subjects maybe? A lot a focus was put on water, I think, because of the (good) workshop with REposition. When we made the last presentation at Mariestad it was wonderful to see how we had all grown. I felt that the first part of the course was hard but in the end I really felt it was worth going through it!» - This course for me was run by lovely staff and they did a great job at organizing and facilitating the course.
