- 1)More introduction on the education structure of US are prefered, such as semester time, graduation requirement( practical course, industry placement, area of specialization that can be choose in the winter semester...) 2)Non-EU students are better to be informed that some preparations should be done before they come to Germany(VISA application in Stockholm, insurance ...) 3)Thanks for helping us to solve the insurance problem» (4)
- Everything seemed really structured. Good info on what the next step would be and not too many question marks (only some about the courses given in Stuttgart, where to find the info in English in the given catalog and so on)» (4)
- Det var relativt tydligt vilka kurser man kunde välja. Det var aningen oklart med industrial placement, men det var inte så konstigt eftersom ingen verkade veta (inte ens i Stuttgart) hur det hela skulle fungera. Ansökningsproceduren var klar och tydlig.» (4)

- It feels that things that should have been done long before we came here was not clear at all. For example making a complete update on what courses that actually was given in English, in the WS, and what kind of module that corresponded to in the German master system and in the MPSES system. Since new courses came up as possible alternatives here, and some of the chosen courses turned out to be in the SS and some wouldn"t happen at all since too few people showed up at the first lectures, the whole frame work fell a part when the term was about to start (or 1 week after it started). Not a nice feeling.» (1)
- 1)A good "buddy" would be helpful for the new DMD student on their first arrival. 2)The first meeting with Mrs.Raphaela Diel is helpful for us. But I hope the insurance problem would be clarified for the new batch DMD student. 3)They have strict studying requirement in US.But I can not get exact information on questions below: when, where and how to take the industry placement and Master Thesis. How to sign-up the exam. What"s the content of practical course. 4)I hope that more detailed studying information can be giving in English.» (2)
- Problemen dök upp först när vi kom till Stuttgart. Några av kurserna som jag hade valt gick inte att läsa, antingen pga att dem inte erbjöds på vinterterminen eller pga schemakrock (vilket givetvis inte kan hjälpas, alltså schemakrock). Det känns som att det hela tiden dyker upp nya saker som man måste anmäla sig till och det är svårt att få någon översikt över vad som måste göras. Här kunde det ges klarare direktiv, tex hur de praktiska kurserna fungerar med anmälan till labbar osv. Tills nästa år hade det varit bra om det gavs ut en lista med alla de kurser som faktiskt erbjuds under aktuell termin, samt en lista över allt som måste göras. Denna lista skulle ta upp praktiska saker såsom anmälan till tentor, anmälan till praktiska kurser (labbar), hur man hittar sitt schema osv. Jämfört med Chalmers är systemet i Tyskland aningen rörigt och det hade varit bra att få veta lite hur saker och ting fungerar här nere innan man kom hit. » (2)
- Because this was the first time this program was executed, ofcourse we understand that there would be some problems. The biggest issue I would say is the Stuttgart organization. The courses that we had agree on taking is not the courses I"m taking now. Mostly because Gunter didnt know that they took place in the summer semester and not the winter semester, but also because they suddenly didnt exist anymore. But, next year this will hopefully be improved. » (2)

- Feels like only one of my courses are giving relevant knowledge. The others are more fluctuating in quality.» (1)
- The lectures are ok, but the most amazing thing here is that they have NO course litterature that they follow! In two courses the answer to why has been "all the good literature is in German" or "there is no good literature on this subject". In other courses the answer has been "well, I recommend these three books, but it is not necessary to buy them to pass the course, but if you are really interested and whant to continue in this field these books are great to have". There is NO calculation exercises.So basically the study material consist of power point slides of different quality. » (2)
- The coursses are extremly simple, atleast so far. There are almost no homeworks, no projects. Compared to Chalmers this is night and day.» (2)
- Studying here more focus on fundamental knowledge and industry application.Lectures and laboratory are separated,which is quite different from the teaching way in Sweden.A drawback is that there are less group works.» (3)
- Jag läser fyra kurser. Två stycken (Flue Gas Cleaning och Basics of Air Quality Control) handlar om rökgasrening och luftkvalitet och dessa två består bara av ’,Power Point’,-presentationer. Man behöver ingen som helst bakgrund för att förstå materialet och jag tycker nivån är lagd alldeles för lågt. Jag tar en numerisk simulationskurs (Introduction to Numerical Simulation of Combustion Processes), i vilken vi varje vecka har en inlämning, vilket är bra. Föreläsningarna håller hög kvalitet och jag är mycket nöjd med kursen. Sista kursen (Flow with Heat Transfer & CFD) är intressant och föreläsaren är bra. Vi har dock inga räkneexempel, vilket är märkligt. Sammanfattningsvis kan sägas att kvaliteten på kurserna varierar, överlag är jag nöjd.» (3)

- Great start! A bit strange to experience strict attendance and controls on if you have done your home work or not, but a great way to get to know other exchange students. The course really helped to get a fast and good start in the German language. » (4)
- Intensivkursen I tyska var mycket bra. Vi hade lektion dryga fem timmar om dagen, vilket var aningen tufft, men det gav också utdelning. Allting fungerade bra. Klara direktiv om hur allt fungerade från första till sista dagen. Efter intensivkursen ville jag fortsätta läsa tyska, men eftersom jag tillhörde en för hög nivå kunde jag inte fortsätta läsa på campus. Kanske kan detta ändras till nästa år? Chalmersstudenter som är B1 eller högre får inte fortsätta studera tyska på samma institution som höll i intensivkursen men det erbjuds dock kurser för B1 och högre. Detta är aningen konstigt. Istället läser jag tyska på en annan institution inne i staden och det fungerar bra.» (5)

- I have not talked, met or seen another student studying energy technology. There are no German students at the lectures I take. There is no "class" to integrate/socialize with. I have made no German friends since I came here and I feel totally isolated from the German Energy master...I wonder what they are up to...It is like we are taking "pretend courses" separated from the others. » (0)
- Not from the University side but during the German course I made a lot of new friends. I Have only one course mate that I know is German.» (1)
- Little contact with old students here.I know some aboard student on German course and the English lectures that I take.» (2)
- Jag har knappt träffat någon som läser Energietechnik, men de få jag har träffat har varit mycket trevliga. Det känns som att det finns rätt så få tyska studenter på institutionen, merparten är utbytesstudenter. Generellt sätt har jag träffat väldigt många andra studenter, som jag inte har gemensamma kurser med. Intensivkursen var mycket bra eftersom man lärde känna många nya personer. Vi bor på campus och omges nästan hela tiden av folk. Folk är trevliga och jag känner mig välkommen. Jag har inte träffat många tyskar dock, och det hade varit roligt att lära känna några fler personer från Energietechnik.» (4)
- The integration is possible mainly by the german language class and the dormitory you live in. I was lucky with a great class and an awesome dormitory to. But they also arrange trips and activities for everyone. It is hard not to feel welcome here.» (4)

- The only thing that is positive is that we live close to the university.» (0)
- I would not recommend anyone to stay here. It turns out that that the contract is binding for the whole period you sign up for, so there is nothing to do about it either. You are stuck. The kitchens are quite disgusting (especially the first month) and the noise force you to live with earplugs all the time...my sleep is disturbed 30-50% of the nights. We live in the ghetto. Only good thing is that it is close/on campus. » (0)
- Not so comfortable as the accommodation in Sweden, but it"s cheaper. The commodities are also cheaper.» (2)
- Vi bor i korridor och delar kök och toalett med 10 personer. När man kom ner fick man en mindre chock över hur smutsigt och nedgånget det var. Jag hade bland annat mögel i mitt rum och dem vita väggarna var inte vita längre (de målades dock om redan efter några dagar). Det bör nämnas att boendet är billigt, vilket såklart uppskattas. När man berättar för folk var man bor skrattar folk oftast eftersom det är ett välkänt faktum att vi har det ’,sämsta’, boendet som erbjuds på campus. Men nu har jag vant mig och om man inte är så petig med saker och ting går det absolut att trivas. Jag bor hellre billigt här än att bo dyrt någonstans med högre standard.» (3)
- Well, everything was extremly messy when we got here. And the doors isnt that well soundproofed. But, with a dorm that wants to keep it clean and respect each others sleeping habbits it works just well. I like it!» (3)

- Bureaucratic... paperwork... feeling of uncertainty, what to do... Courses I don"t fancy... Lot of nice people... Feels like we spend 10% of our time studying and the rest finding papers on the Internet. A big portion of this time is spent trying to understand the language.» (0)
- If I only look at the university and the academic level and how accessible the information you need (about courses, about schedule, lab manuals, home page) I would not recommend anyone to go here since the quality is so much higher at Chalmers. If I could make the same choice all over again I am not sure if I would go. But the German course and the city of Stuttgart has been nice and now that things are finally coming together maybe things will be better...and when the practical work and thesis begin maybe we will be more integrated and have more things to do. » (2)

- Det känns som att man med ganska enkla medel skulle kunna göra studierna mycket bättre. Kurserna som sådana är det inget fel på, jag tycker dock utbudet på Chalmers är bättre: bredare och intressantare kurser. Jag hade önskat att saker och ting var bättre organiserade, vilket redan har påpekats. Jag hoppas att allting med industrial placement kommer att gå friktionsfritt, men jag har tyvärr mina föraningar om att det kommer att dyka upp en del oväntade hinder på vägen. Det börjar också bli tid att söka ex-jobb och detta har vi än så länge inte fått någon information om. Det hade uppskattats! Överlag trivs jag mycket bra i Stuttgart. Folk är trevliga och det känns i princip som hemma, kulturen är inte speciellt annorlunda. Det enda som drar ner betyget är alltså att det har strulat med det praktiska i studierna. Bör också nämnas att vi som läser Energietechnik har extremt lite att göra, än så länge har det känts mer eller mindre som semester. » (3)
- The studies are to simple, not that much to study. But the life here is great. » (3)
