- Maybe the only "bad" thing was when we were supposed to give the final essay on friday instead of sunday, but then it went back to sunday for those who couldn"t make it, so it doesn"t really matter.» (Very well)

- The architecture building needs good reading spaces. The library is an option when it is open. Until recently I have also sometimes lacked school computers, now I found out that there are other computer rooms accessable to me on the third floor. The architecture building is hard to navigate. Is it possible to just hang up maps of the building by the entrances, showing where you will end up if you go down. » (Adequate)
- Good, however there was no real space to work dedicated to this course. In my case I was lucky that some friends doing their thesis on the fifth floor offered me a space in their room, otherwise it wouldn"t have been easy to work at Chalmers. Moreover, the opening hours of the architecture library are quite narrow.» (Adequate)

- I didn"t ask much for help but I had the feeling that the number of students was to high for the teachers. » (Rather poor)
- Good, but the available times for email tutoring were a bit narrow and I think its always easier to ask questions when you talk to the person directly.» (Rather good)

- I tried to distribute my workload and do more work when I had less to do in other courses. » (Adequate)
- Once again, it depended when during the course: the workload was fine when it was only this course, but then with the overlap with the Design tools course it became hard to manage everything.» (Adequate)

- It wasn"t completely unpromblematic to combine the course with other courses. The course was only 50% which meant that it was necessary to combine it with aditional studies for many of us. The other courses were all 100% witch made the total workload either 50% or 150%. » (Adequate)

- I had a general impression that students from the Urban and Architectural studio had a clearer idea of what to expect from this course and how to get a valuable essay out of it than the students not familiar with Ana from earlier courses.» (Adequate)
- helps to clarify a lot your own interests but can also be an obstacle for the people not knowing their topic» (Good)
- Even if maybe all the goals written on the paper were not really achieved (for example, the part about the work plan for the master"s thesis), I felt it was really good to just start to think about the thesis. It was good to discover that it is actually really hard to formulate clearly our thesis" ideas and to narrow the topic into something coherent.» (Good)

- The idea of the course is excellent and I like the "loose" structure of optional tutorials and group work. Also the feedback has been really thorough and helpful even though the teachers had many essays and students this year, which was great.»

20. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- I would have like at least 2 more sessions with both of the teachers, as a one to one comment on the whole text written. It could have helped much more to understand the idea of academic writing as well as improve the final outcome»
- Sometimes it would be good to know a little further in advance when the schedule changes or what will happen each week.»
- I believe this course should be integrated with design studios in order to allow students to further their research into an actual school project.»
- Try to set the schedule from the start. Can be difficult when all students have different courses and schedules so some flexibility is maybe neccessary, but still, a more fixed structure would be good.»
- I would have liked more lectures/info on HOW to write an academic text. For most architecture students, this is one of the very few times we face an academic text, and a writing course would have been very valuable for me. Also, more meetings/help in the inital phase of the course on what subject to choose/what is suitable for a master thesis, could have been good, as we received no information of what a master thesis on Chalmers should be like prior to the course. »
- It would be really nice to solve the problem of the overlap between the end of the AT&M course and other courses, because I felt I had to "scamp" a little the end of the AT&M, which I think was a shame.»
- Only thong I would change for next semester is to have a minimum of pages written for the mid critic. Would have helped me.»
- More lessons in the beginning where you get to now what is expected with the essay, background, method etc. »
- To have a clearer introduction to what should and could be done in the course, more guidelines from the beginning. »

21. Additional comments

- I think the goal of the course and the final paper do not match with each other. I"ve thought the course was for preparing thesis. Thus,I think in the course, I should have chosen proper topic, researched enough references, set the strategy and developed the argument with logic. But, I think they just pushed to write a 3500-words-essay, though this is not the writing course. I think there are few people who continue thesis with the topic in the course, Advanced Thesis. »
- A good chance to develop an idea for a thesis, do background research and/or try out a method.»
