8. Do you have any suggestions for improving the introduction day for next year?

- More information about courses.»
- Information that I can find on my own is not necessary. The last presentations were good and well presented.»
- Let people compensate for it somehow, so that they don"t have to wait half a year to attend it if they are in a rush for some reason. »
- Be more practical, talk about courses and give advices about the phd-work! Maybe it is more relevant to have the introduction day in smaller units, for example that every institution has there own introduction day.»
- Remove the bit on sustainability. It"s one of those things that should just work without me having to care about it. As a former Chalmers student, I already knew a lot. It would have been better to just get a document to sign.»
- Please give information about course. for example, compulsory course, point for each department.»
- If I would have been more actively informed earlier about the introduction day, for example received an e-mail when the registration opened, I would have gone there in spring 2009. Then most of the information would have been more useful to me. One thing I missed because I missed the introduction day previously was to become member of DS. But still at the introduction day, we didn"t receive a simple way to become members, and I"m not sure I even heard it"s mandatory. Please distribute a bill with account number and due date! There"s enough things to think about when you"re a new PhD student not to have to think about going to the Kårexpedition during their opening hours and ask for that.»
- We already knew most of the materials you presented there. Please focus on those materials which are more interesting to students. such as social activities during phd, exchange program, cooperation with industry and so on.»
- Shorter, more concise. The general intro about Chalmers could be voluntary for none-chalmers students.»

9. Other comments to the Ph.D Introduction Day?

- I think the introduction day should be accompanied by a nice lunch or so and a social event to make it more attractive, and it shouldn"t be mandatory. It"s proven to be completely possible to survive for a few years as a PhD student without this information. If, however, the information would have been gathered at some easily found webpage titled something like "Useful practicalities for PhD students", life would have been even simpler.»
- Most parts overlaps with the introduction on department level and the introduction on faculty level. I had already heard all the information twice.»
- Jag antar att det är svårt, men för oss som varit på Chalmer ett tag är det mycket repetition.»

- It felt like you just wanted to brag about stuff and you feel like you SHOULD have an introduction day. Also, I think many PhD attend this day several years into their PhD, even though it is not intended that way. Btw, WHY do you want us to attend this?! I cannot see any reason why these things would require a whole day (I can summarize the day like this: there"s a doctoral student"s union, Chalmers wants some vague environmental certificate).»
