- I think that the course project is a better way to assess if the goals is reached. The exam is almost meaningless, a better alternative is to have compulsory hand-ins for the different computer exercises to see that the goal is reached. » (To some extent)

- Groups would be better if they mixed swedish and foreign students so that there is a larger field of experience. Help seemed to be given to the swedish students more than to foriegn students in the study sessions, this may have been a langauge problem.» (Some extent)

- It was bad that you couldn"t download MATHCAD to your own computer. It also would have been good that it said in the beginning of the course that the excercises were compulsory.» (Rather badly)

- Some people tend to always be late for group meetings (sometimes hours..). This results in not everyone being equally involved, yet everyone gets the same grade. I do not feel group work should be graded, just pass or fail. » (Rather well)

- Better balance between the courses. Late presentations in week 7 in both courses made it hard to start studying for the exams. All focus has been on finishing group projects (writing reports takes a lot of time) and preparing presentations.» (Adequate)

- Projektdelen var riktigt bra men tyvärr är föreläsning/tentadelen det sämsta jag har haft under min tid på Chalmers.» (Poor)
- It was difficult to understand what the course was really about at first. It took quite some time before I realised that it was modelling for three different areas (groundwater, diffusion/advection, geotechnics), this should"ve been stated clearer earlier during the course, what type of modelling we were supposed to do. The name of the course feels more general than the course content.» (Adequate)

16. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- Hela föreläsningspaketet och tillhörande tenta. Jag förstod aldrig riktigt vad det var ni ville få fram. Det känns som att alla olika föreläsningar var helt frånkopplade från varandra och jag kan inte påstå att jag lärt mig knappt något alls om varför modelling är bra och hur man ska använda det för att lösa olika problem. Wet-föreläsningarna var tyvärr riktigt dåliga. Lars berättade aldrig vad det var vi skulle göra på en föreläsning eller varför det var bra eller på vilka problem man skulle kunna använda det på. Han bara visade en massa slides fulla med ekvationer i två timmar. Att han dessutom satt ner vid sin dator hela föreläsningarna gör ju inte saken bättre. Något som redan är väldigt teoretiskt och aningen svårbegripligt blir ju inte roligare av att läraren inte ens har entusiasmen att kunna stå upp och föreläsa. Köp en fjärrkontroll med laserpekare till Lars så att han kan stå upp men ändå peka på skärmen. Sen undrar jag även varför Cleas Ahlén måste hålla föreläsningarna om statistik. Som jag uppfattar det är det allmänt kännt att CA pratar ganska tyst och otydligt. Samtidigt har jag uppfattat från mina klasskamrater att han är mycket uppskattat som projekthandledare. Varför kan man då inte låta folk göra det som är bra på och ta in någon som är duktig på att föreläsa som kan ta statistikdelen. Det måste väl finnan någon som kan gå in och ta tre föreläsningar eller vad det nu handlar om. Jag anser även att tentan inte prövar om man har förstått kursinnehållet. Det var en typtenta rakt igenom och jag tror att jag har klarat den ganska bra men jag känner inte att jag kan så mycket om modelling. Slutligen anser jag att kursen inte borde det ligga i det obligatoriska blocket. Nu på master har de flesta fler kurser som de vill läsa än vad de hinner. Då känns det skit att lägga tid, kraft och studielån på denna kurs som ger så lite.»

- I would have liked to have scheduled opportunities to do calculations, such as those on the exam. When studying for the exam, it felt as if it did not reflect the course. More calculation examples throughout the course would have been nice. »
- Remove the written exam, and add more focus on the course project and maybe also well structured (not only Mathcad) compulsory computer exercises.»

- Be clearer about whether the computer exercises are compulsory or not. It was some confusion regarding this.»
- Claes Ahlen has to speak more clearly in his lectures. Maybe it would be good to have some handouts or some points on a powerpoint so it would be easier to follow him. Sometimes he jst mumbles so you can"t hear what he"s saying and then you miss a lot of learning. »
- Better structure on the lectures and the whole course. Hand out exercises similar to those on the exam during the course and advise students to work with them.»

17. Additional comments

- Maybe it wasn"t a problem on the exam we got, but on some of the old exams it seemed like the people who had done the hydrogeology course project benefitted from it on the exam more than those who did the other projects. It might seem unfair, when you told us it should matter which project you get.. Also, the way you handed out the course projects might not have been the best. Why not just place people in different groups, so you get a good mixture of international and non-international students in the group? Seems more fair than to have everyone rush down to the blackboard, trying to get there first. »
- The introductory lecture has to give a better picture of the course. Present the different areas in the course and the different teaching methods so that the students know what to expect.»
- I"m in Erasmus, and I took this course because I people told me that there is lots of calculations and programations in this course. I found the calculation and programation part very small, superficial and easy. I remember lots of unexplicated complicated equation.»
