- The course needs to look at the more complicated issues involved in LCA in more depth. These were glossed over and only basic processes were described. The basics of LCA could have been covered in the first few weeks and then the course could have moved to more interesting topics.»
- The project was good and may stay in it"s present form. I miss More small exercises like the ones in the book (A-G)they are good. Some simple recycling exercises maybe. Perhaps the project can start earlies and the task of critical review should be rearranged until after having had all the methodology lectures (chapter 1 to 8 in the book). The computer exercise was not enough to learn the program, but OK since this was not the intention either.
Maybe it could be good with a short overview of chemical substances of special interest in many LCAs, or a summary of which the typical environmental aspects are in different areas.»

- Anne-Marie lectures did not contain much content.»
- Anne-Maries lectures are difficult to follow. It seems like she is not so prepared for the lectures and that she"s using the same slides as last year without looking at them before the lecture. She need to show greater commitment. »

8. Were the smaller exercises in the course instructive?Matrisfråga- I think it would be better to allocate more time for the software exercise. And I also want to have feedback of the reading exercise, or at least some discussion.»
- They could be more.»
- Blurry things have a tendency to clarify as the course proceeds. In this case I think the smaller exercises worked as a good base for the learning even though the level of understanding, at least in my case, might have been quite adequate while doing the exercises in the first place.»

I think it will be better if we can make group by ourselves, so that we can work with students having same ambition. And I find the different background didn"t help a lot in the project work.»
- The support from the supervisors were sometimes a little bit late after the hand-in (when it was a spring break)»

- Unfortunately I had not enough time left too read the book during the course to use it in the project. I wish I had had that time, because when I did read it for the exam after the project was done, I noticed a few things we should have made different in the project.»

- The project was a night-mare. It´,s hopeless to be put in groups with people that don´,t do what they are supposed to. The supervision wasn´,t to any help since we hadn´,t done enough to ask the relevant questions. We relly needed a lot extra time in addition to the scheduled hours and even with that extra time, we hardly pass the project. The thought about doing an LCA like this is good, but it doesn´,t work in reality. I would have had so spend less time if I had done it on my own. Then I wouldn´,t have spend a lot of time waiting for calculations that never came or turned out to be wrong. It´,s also hopeless to find time to work together when you are put in groups with people that take other courses than you do. »
- The last question is definitely a YES but we thought it was interesting and fun work so we simply chose to put some time into it.»
- The others in the group were incompetent, one that hadn"t finished his bachelor and one exchange student, both with big trouble with English. There should definitely be higher pre-requisites to this course, both when it comes to English and knowledge about sustainability matters. My fellow project members didn"t meet any of these requirements which costed me a lot of extra hours since I basically had to write the report myself. »

- The book does not emphasize on how the "system equations" should/may be presented in a LCA report.
I also lack a more thorough description of the difference between "stand alone LCA" and "attributional LCA". According to the book there was apparently some small difference, but I failed to put my finger on it. I can only guess that the attributional LCAs are meant for comparisons, while the stand alone LCAs are not meant to compare at all. It was said in the book that the methodology choices for stand alone LCAs are of less importance, but since the results can vary quite a bit depending on methodology choices this seem strange. What is really the application of such stand alone studies as compared to attributional studies.
I also lack a deeper discussion in the book/course on the choice of average vs. marginal data in the case of change oriented studies. Also in relation to the question in the goal and scope definition and the time frame of interest. » (Excellent)

Genomsnitt: 1.83 14. Further opinions, comments and suggestions how the course can be improved?- I would very much have liked to listen to all the project presentations. Even though the teachers may not be interested, the students may. Therefore it could be scheduled not to be given in parallel, but perhaps in series, even in the same day. The two groups can remain and it can be compulsory to be present in half of the presentations like this year, but then also optional to be present on the rest too.

- More enthusiasim and a little faster tempo from the lecturer (AMT) would perhaps increase the number of students visiting the lectures.»
- The grouping could be improved. It was hard to find common time since we all had different schedules. The pre-requisites were also an issue since my fellow group members hardly spoke English and hadn"t taken any environmental courses before and therefore weren"t familiar with even the most common sustainability concepts.»
