1. How have you prioritised the course relative to the other courses this period.*27 svarande
Genomsnitt: 2.4 2. Was it easy to follow the lectures? Do you feel that the lecturer presented new material in a good way?*- The first part (the non-turbulent part) was easy to follow for me because the lecturer followed the lecture notes pretty good. For the second part the lectures and the lecture notes didn"t match as good and then it became harder to follow the lectures.»- not so easy for the first time, but because I redo the course then It"s easier than before.» - I do not think it was that easy to follow sometimes. Some basic ideas are too rapidly introduced. The lecturer presented new materials pretty well.» - yes» - The material is easy to follow for people who has basics knowledge in Fluid Mechanics. However, the Matlab part is somehow complicated because not everybody has the proper background.» - Yes i liked the lectures » - yes» - Yes, I have a background in CFD, therefore it was easy to follow the lectures. However, the lecturer was doing a good job in introducing new material.» - yes» - .» - Yes. Handing out lecture notes beforehand was very good. Although I often spent a few minutes each lectures finding where in the notes to start. Maybe the structure of the notes could be improved? Or maybe just refer to which page number we start at each lecture?» - Yes, good lectures. Very good with lecture notes at the homepage before the lectures.» - yes, excellent.» - yes» - yes I was satisfied but I think I needed more discussion about course and projects with teacher.» - Yes» - Yeah, but could have explained some approximations better» - they were good.» - Yes, it was a good tempo for me, and it was good that the teacher also tried to connect to examples in industry. The repetitions where good, bur sometimes new stuff was speeded through and considered obvious which it might not be every time.» - Generally, yes» - Yes he did! What could be improved with the lectures?- The lectures on turbulence should follow the lecture notes better. Or the lecture notes for the turbulent part should be updated.»- learning outcome per week» - Sometimes students dont ask questions because they feel embarrased for not understanding, but the lecturer must persist on asking for questions to asure the proper understanding of the subject.» - Lecture notes are great, especially if you annotate them during the lecture. But you can"t capture everything. I often found myself wishing I could replay the lectures to see exactly what was said and even where the lecturer pointed when he said it. Have you considered recording videos of each lecture? I am now doing a CFD related master thesis and have several times wished I could attend specific lectures again.» - There could have been a couple of "catch-up"-lectures, to conclude mayor parts.» - Too much repition!?» - Sometimes it was not clear where in the lecture notes the content was located, or if the material even existed in the lecture notes.» - Demonstration» - More questions to the crowed, make them read in advanced so they can answer questions. This way people would be better prepered for exam and assignments.» 5. How would you grade the general quality of the lecture notes?*27 svarande

What could be improved with the lecture notes?- The lectures on turbulence should follow the lecture notes better. Or the lecture notes for the turbulent part should be updated.»- mistype» - Add some lines of code which could be useful for the assignements and for those who never experienced this software.» - The first half of the lecture notes is not presented in the same way as the second half. Maybe it would be better to provide the first half in the same manner as the second half.» - More example and the demonstration of the formula.» - Refer to page number during lectures.» - Nothing, they were exactly as explicit as lecture notes should be.» - In some cases we were supposed to memorize many things word by word in the lecture note. I prefer more discussion and conclusion or computation in such courses.» - Promote the book instead...» - Include all of it, or let us write!» - Some parts feels like they are missing so fill in some gaps. It is though a good thing that they are easy to follow and not that much text. But some calculations could show some more steps.» 7. Did you get enough help with computer exercises from the exercise teachers?- Yes»- Yes, computer exercise is really good. It helps to understand the lecture.» - Unfortunately not. Not because of them but because of the number of students who asked for help.» - Yes, but maybe they need more assistance, because in computer exercises students do ask questions. A lot of questions.» - Yes» - We are too many in the group so it"s difficult to have some help during the exercise.» - Yes and no. They helped as far as they could but often you had to wait very long to get help» - Yes» - Absolutely» - yes but I would like to learn more about the results» - yes» - yes!» - Yes, the assistants where very helpful. However in task 2, it could have been more clear which numerical scheme to use since the scheme that we should use was not really "correct". It was only valid for equidistant meshes, which was not what we had.» - Yes, they where very helpful.» - Absolutely, they were terrific! Always helpful and always there.» - O yes, they had to help me allot and I went to their office and asked for help an d if they worn"t busy they always answered my/our questions. » - yes» - Yes» 8. Genomsnitt: 4 (bidrar till totalt genomsnitt/jämförelseindex) - I think a first assignement in 1D to begin with should have been great. Especially if we do it in class together with the teacher. Indeed, for those who never experienced matlab it could be a great opportunity for them to have a first look and be confident for the next.» (Good) 10. What could be improved with the tasks?- The presentations should focus more on the specific problems for the task, ie implementation of non-standard boundary values. So that everyone can learn how to do this. I presented the last task in January and there were several people (including myself) that didn"t really know how to implement a inhomogeneous Neumann BC.»- Connect it with the real life case. With examples of application.» - For the first assigment at least, a skeleton on how to implement the code could be useful.» - Task were good and the opportunity to present our work is an excellent idea. » - It"s too much work... we should have only 2» - It is always very stressful the last weeks before the exam week. I would have preferred a slightly earlier deadline for the last assignment.» - They were a little bit too time consuming, but on the other hand one learned much. I think to much time was spent debugging=wasting time learning nothing. No clue how to solve this, though...» - Presence of teacher. His experience and ideas could help us more.» - More hints for the different turbulence models in task 3. I think you should look at different things depending on what model you have. Give specific things to look at for each model, and hints on how to analyse the data. It was very time consuming to analyse the article that we got to read. (wilcox k-omega model)» - The last assigmnent (I think), with taking k-epsilon models from papers was a bit random. Me and my friend sat literally three days with completed code, but it didn"t converge. When we changed the initial solution to a higher value, it converged. That can be very frustrating since we already have so much to do in so little time, taking other courses into account.» - More understanding of what it is we were caluclationg exactly, it was not until presentation time I undersod that.» - Maybe adding the use of CFD software. How did you like the course arrangement (Lectures/Lecture notes/Computer exercise/Course homepage/Information)- Very good.»- good» - Assigments take too much time: Cannot appreciate the course as I would have liked to.» - good enough.» - It was adequate» - Everything was very well arranged. Though I would appreciate a more well planned course homepage.» - Very good!» - it was ok. Would apprecieate of everything was gathered in one place (preferably the student portal)» - Very much» - It was good. It is always good with tasks, since they make you work from the start.» - It was good.» - good» 12. How did you like the examples of the use of CFD shown by the lecturer and the guest from industry?- Couldn"t attend this lecture.»- good» - Very good» - It was good but we would had liked learn how to use the software » - very good.» - It was interesting to see what they are doing with CFD, however it did not cover my personal interests.» - Interesting.» - Very interesting» - Very good! It is important to have some association to the applications.» - That was really good.» - good» 13. What is our general impression of the course. Are your expectations safisfied?- Good.»- yes» - Good general impression. A bit dissapointed about the assignements: 3 assignements is okay but they should be simpler to fix the basic ideas. Example: begin with a one dimensional case.» - Yes, but maybe there should be an opportunity of taking a look at a commercial CFD software. » - no,because i feel i know very little about CFD, and there is no advanced course for CFD.» - Yes» - Very high work load, as expected. I wouldn"t have wanted it any other way!» - I"m very satisfied with the outcome of the course.» - Yes, this course complemented my CFD knowledge to a large extent. I have another onderstanding of pre processing now than before, whick was my goal.» - It was quite hard work since the tasks were time consuming, but I learned a lot. I liked the course very much.» - I liked this course very much I was satisfied with course but I needed more discussion with the teacher» - I like the course very much, and most of my expectations very satisfied. However, there is some things in the course description that should be removed, since it gives false expectations. For example that we would use a comercial code and make shape optimization.» - Yes they are. It would maybe me interesting to learn a CFD program lika ANSIS or something like that, sence that is what is used in industry.» - good» 14. What is your general grade on the course?*27 svarande

Did the exam reflect the course in a fair way?- Yes, but I think that the implementation problems (boundary conditions, strange sources) deserve more attention. Either in the lectures or in the presentations.»- yes» - The exam was okay but we had to know by heart some derivations of schemes (Rie-Chow for example) that we do not remember know so I think there is no point in this.» - Yes» - The exam was almost too easy» - We spend a lot of time on the task and the exam is more about the formula so it"s not really representative...» - yes» - yes» - yes» - ok» - the exam was really hard given how much time I spent on the course.» - Yes» - Yes.» - yes» 16. Genomsnitt: 3.6 - In my opinion the tasks should be completely individual. Tasks like these can"t really be divided between the students, everyone needs to learn everything.
Helping each other is great and takes some of the work load of the exercise teachers. But I think it should be voluntary cooperation and not official groups.» (Rather bad) Beräknat jämförelseindex: 0.75 * obligatoriska frågor
