1. How have you prioritised the course relative to the other courses this period.*

2. Was it easy to follow the lectures? Do you feel that the lecturer presented new material in a good way?*

- The first part (the non-turbulent part) was easy to follow for me because the lecturer followed the lecture notes pretty good. For the second part the lectures and the lecture notes didn"t match as good and then it became harder to follow the lectures.»

- I do not think it was that easy to follow sometimes. Some basic ideas are too rapidly introduced. The lecturer presented new materials pretty well.»

- The material is easy to follow for people who has basics knowledge in Fluid Mechanics. However, the Matlab part is somehow complicated because not everybody has the proper background.»

- Nice to repeat at the beginning of the course what we did in the last course. Even though sometimes it takes much time.» (Good)
- Sometimes he looked confused when explaining some derivations, but in general, he demonstrated deep knowledge in the subject.» (Good)

- Sometimes he almost forbid us to write down things. Thats not very good since alot of people tend to memorize things better when they can write down and understand it. I"d say he should take it slower at those parts so everyone can write it down and understand it.» (Good)

4. What could be improved with the lectures?

- The lectures on turbulence should follow the lecture notes better. Or the lecture notes for the turbulent part should be updated.»

- Sometimes students dont ask questions because they feel embarrased for not understanding, but the lecturer must persist on asking for questions to asure the proper understanding of the subject.»
- Lecture notes are great, especially if you annotate them during the lecture. But you can"t capture everything. I often found myself wishing I could replay the lectures to see exactly what was said and even where the lecturer pointed when he said it. Have you considered recording videos of each lecture? I am now doing a CFD related master thesis and have several times wished I could attend specific lectures again.»
- There could have been a couple of "catch-up"-lectures, to conclude mayor parts.»

- The notes on turbulence weren"t very extensive compared to the lectures. The other lecture notes were very good.» (Ok)

- The phrase "stop writing, this is in lecture notes" was heard a number of times, but all of it wasn"t in the lecture notes. Bad.» (Ok)

6. What could be improved with the lecture notes?

- The lectures on turbulence should follow the lecture notes better. Or the lecture notes for the turbulent part should be updated.»

- The first half of the lecture notes is not presented in the same way as the second half. Maybe it would be better to provide the first half in the same manner as the second half.»

- In some cases we were supposed to memorize many things word by word in the lecture note. I prefer more discussion and conclusion or computation in such courses.»

- Some parts feels like they are missing so fill in some gaps. It is though a good thing that they are easy to follow and not that much text. But some calculations could show some more steps.»

7. Did you get enough help with computer exercises from the exercise teachers?

- Unfortunately not. Not because of them but because of the number of students who asked for help.»

- Yes, the assistants where very helpful. However in task 2, it could have been more clear which numerical scheme to use since the scheme that we should use was not really "correct". It was only valid for equidistant meshes, which was not what we had.»

- I think a first assignement in 1D to begin with should have been great. Especially if we do it in class together with the teacher. Indeed, for those who never experienced matlab it could be a great opportunity for them to have a first look and be confident for the next.» (Good)
- In task 3 it was hard to understand really why some models worked better than others. We where told to look at the near wall behavior, but it was hard to actually determine the actual polynomial power. It also seemed to me that the biggest problem with k-epsilon was not the polynomial behavior of the model term, but that we divide with k ---> 0 in the epsilon equation.» (Good)

10. What could be improved with the tasks?

- The presentations should focus more on the specific problems for the task, ie implementation of non-standard boundary values. So that everyone can learn how to do this. I presented the last task in January and there were several people (including myself) that didn"t really know how to implement a inhomogeneous Neumann BC.»
- Connect it with the real life case. With examples of application.»
- For the first assigment at least, a skeleton on how to implement the code could be useful.»
- Task were good and the opportunity to present our work is an excellent idea. »

- It is always very stressful the last weeks before the exam week. I would have preferred a slightly earlier deadline for the last assignment.»
- They were a little bit too time consuming, but on the other hand one learned much. I think to much time was spent debugging=wasting time learning nothing. No clue how to solve this, though...»
- Presence of teacher. His experience and ideas could help us more.»
- More hints for the different turbulence models in task 3. I think you should look at different things depending on what model you have. Give specific things to look at for each model, and hints on how to analyse the data. It was very time consuming to analyse the article that we got to read. (wilcox k-omega model)»
- The last assigmnent (I think), with taking k-epsilon models from papers was a bit random. Me and my friend sat literally three days with completed code, but it didn"t converge. When we changed the initial solution to a higher value, it converged. That can be very frustrating since we already have so much to do in so little time, taking other courses into account.»
- More understanding of what it is we were caluclationg exactly, it was not until presentation time I undersod that.»

- Good general impression. A bit dissapointed about the assignements: 3 assignements is okay but they should be simpler to fix the basic ideas. Example: begin with a one dimensional case.»

15. Did the exam reflect the course in a fair way?

- Yes, but I think that the implementation problems (boundary conditions, strange sources) deserve more attention. Either in the lectures or in the presentations.»

- The exam was okay but we had to know by heart some derivations of schemes (Rie-Chow for example) that we do not remember know so I think there is no point in this.»

- but on the other hand, I am not a 4th year applied student, so I dont really know, and I guess that my answer should be considered irrelevant.» (Yes, definitely)
- Not very much mixing. But it is hard when swedish people know echother and the non-swedish knows echother quit well.» (Yes, to a too large extent)
- Yes, and partly my fault too. I was sitting next to a pakistani student who wanted to be my partner for the tasks, but I chose a swedish student. That was because the pakistani student had a horrible accent, I couldn"t understand what he was saying...» (Not much, but there was a litlle)

- In my opinion the tasks should be completely individual. Tasks like these can"t really be divided between the students, everyone needs to learn everything. Helping each other is great and takes some of the work load of the exercise teachers. But I think it should be voluntary cooperation and not official groups.» (Rather bad)
- My only intention was to learn everything, so I havn"t cooperated very much, but those times I discussed something there was no problem. The same comment as for Q16 should be applied here.» (Very good)
- I cooperated mostly with one person, but my overall impression was also that there was a very friendly atmosphere.» (Very good)
