Usually you got a reply a few days before the final deadline, which in effect made it possible to resubmit only once, even though you had 2 weeks between first and final deadline.» (Rather well) Study climate9. Genomsnitt: 4.29 - This study period has been too hectic for me in order to fully appreciate and reflect over the course contents to the extent I would like to. The weekly assignments have a contributed somewhat to this. I would prefer two larger projects instead. And either an exam or assignments, not both. The other course I"m taking has a similar layout with assignments and projects (but higher work load). However, the assignments are graded and added to the final exam mark (most people get enough point to pass the course without taking the exam).» (Good) 12. What should definitely be preserved to next year?- The programming assignment.»- I really liked the professor and his teaching skills.» - Everything!» - Weekly home assignments and the programming assignment.» - The homepage» - Mathematics related topics may have more information in the course homepage» - Assignments, Björn» - The assignments were very interesting and helped a lot in gaining a better understanding of the various notions.» - The home assignments! You learned a lot from them, and did actually do your work in time.» - The lecturer, assignments, lab.» - Björn von Sydow.» - Björn and the simplicity of the course as a whole. Nothing too thorough to be unnecessary, but nothing explained too little either.» - - Home assignments are well crafted, and should keep their current form (with a programming assignment) » - Labs» - The assignments were good but the homework assignment needs more explanation. as I understand most of the students made the same mistake of reading from the file. Althought it was mentioned in the description, it was not that clear otherwise that many students would not have made the same mistake.» - Björn and his slides!» - Everything! :D» - almost everything» - The structure of the lectures.» - Most things. I liked the home assignments. I am not sure about the lab though. I think it was not really complicated. For sure we had enough with home assignments and exercises so it should not have been more time consuming than it was. Very pleased.» - Excellent course. Could be kept as is.» - Programming assignment. The only time we actually made a working, useful, implementation of cryptography. Course book? » 13. What should definitely be changed to next year?- Nothing!»- Faster correction of the assignments.» - Correct the assignments a lot quicker, should not take a week and a half to get a response.» - Maybe lock the door 10 minutes after the beginning of each lecture. Latecomers were very annoying.» - Students that arrives late at the lecture were very anoying this years (worst in my experience of courses). Even though the students are free to come and go as they pleasures, maybe a hint from the lecturer could help the other ones that actually tries to follow the lecture.» - Course literature was a sleeper =)» - The last lecture should be omitted.» - It was a pity that all lectures were at the same times as the lectures in the Advanced Algorithms course. It meant that I did not get to experience Björn as much as I wanted.» - I though assignment 2 was the hardest one, and I couldn"t really answer it on the exam either, even though I solved it as a Home assignment. The first home assignment is something you can get stuck on for too long time, it was fun, but some modification to it would probably be good.» - the slides and the teacher» - the math parts should be taught in more details and with some slower pace and also some examples should be given when teaching the new concepts in order to have a better understanding» - Can"t think of anything except having hand-ins during the exam week.» - LFSR aren"t used a lot in practice afaik, seems like all you need to know is that when used as stream ciphers they"re vulnerable to a known plaintext attack» - The only thing I found disturbing was one of the students that repeatedly asked questions that had already been answered. I guess Björn could talk to these students separatly.» - I think the examination should be replaced by a project. Cryptography is too much of an interesting subject to be "reduced" to an examination - a project would be much more interesting and useful.» - .» - Perhaps no home assignment the last week.» - Don"t know. » 14. Additional comments- Well, I think the course is way too basic, and it feels like we skim through most material without getting into any real depth. I realise cryptograpy is huge and getting into a lot of algorithms and proofs would make it both a larger, more difficult course with more prerequisites, but still I think it could be worth it. Now it almost has the impression of popular science - it"s like Simon Singh"s book deluxe.»- Keep this guy..» - Björn is a good teacher» - Awesome course.» - The exam was difficult specially the last two questions. I don"t think that the students could be able to fairly evaluated. » - Great course! Thanks a lot.» - subjects are different and no one can concentrate on all of them at the same time» - Good job Björn!» - von Sydow is an excellent lecturer. He is a very engaged person that makes it fun to go to the lectures. Many people hold courses and you can really see/hear that they have been a teacher for too many years, with von Sydow it still seems like it is the first time he does it, he seems to have fun and really wants us to learn something.
