- the goals dont say anything about integrals and derivates. why so much calculation since we are not going to use it once working?? I would understand it if it were for a bachelor regarding the logical formation but this is a bit more advanced from my perspective. why not calculating real cases instead in a excel sheet like if it was a real simulation with different scenarios and different strategies applied. Moreover, the calculation part was not explained very good in the lecture by the way.» (The goals give some guidance, but could be clearer)

- Please don"t take it personal but having a PhD does not mean being a good teacher or professor. I felt lost many times during the lectures and sometimes went by the branches. » (Some extent)
- The level of knowledge of the professor is quite high, so some times to follow up his ideas you need to know some concepts prior the lecture. Though he tried to cover all the required concepts » (Large extent)
- The economic modelling was a bit unclear at some points. It was not very clear at the beginning what the goal of every model was. Reading the book gave more insight in the rationale behind it.» (Large extent)

- Regarding the homeworks, either compulsory or voluntary were a mess, the lecturer said first that a second homework were going to be hung on the web but then it just didn"t was there. I had to call my classmathes to solve some problems the administration/web page should have solved.» (Rather badly)
- The information about the different assignments could have been presented clearer, especially when they where published.» (Rather badly)
- I strongly suggest that every assignment be stated since the beginning of the course.» (Rather badly)
- one might want to receive announcement of assignments before they appeared in student portal, the course page with "nuggets" (formulas and so forth) was useful for exam preparation, the attention to it at the lectures also could be drawn» (Rather well)
- Sometimes, the student portal was really slow or unaccessible» (Rather well)
- However, it would have been nice if you had announced the compulsory individual assignment in class.» (Rather well)
- The info about the assignment 1 was really bad.» (Rather well)

Poor»1 4%
Fair»1 4%
Adequate»8 33%
Good»9 37%
Excellent»5 20%

Genomsnitt: 3.66

- I feel I lost my time after have attended this course and done the exam. I would not recommend it, even though it treates interesting topics I would say just the 40% - 50% of the sourse really worth it. » (Poor)
- The course material is very good. » (Good)
- New prospective on strategy in comparison with previous courses, relevant MELT concept, good balance between new concepts learning and their application, general very good stimulation of self-studying. » (Excellent)
- I am really content with the course. I feel I got a very good overview, to a very detailed level, considering the short period and the complex area. And I didn"t know it was this complex before the course started.» (Excellent)

14. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- Tom Ewings Law lectures and the IIP day»
- All the lectures, including Ove"s and Tom"s »
- Examiner»
- The part dedicated to the IP law concepts»
- - the strategy part related to IP. - the general overview of IP and its applications - some features of IP like when, how, and what should be protected»
- open discussions»
- IP Law with Tom Ewing and IP Seminar»
- The exercise lessons, they help a lot, specially to non economic studying students, or students with a low economic background.»
- IP law lectures»
- Everything except the changes below.»
- The lectures of Tom Ewing and the extra assignments»
- Tom Ewing"s contribution. »
- Some interesting guest lectures like the ones from the IIP»

15. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- It would be good is someone told the class that an individual assignment was to be made instead of just putting it on the course homepage»
- Give more time to answer the exam questions or reduce the number of questions. Even if you requested short answers, some questions required a little bit more explanation in order to express our-self properly »
- To add some handouts for people who don"t have any Economic background, with simple economic concepts such as demand curve, economies of scale, of speed, of scope, ... And add some short group assignments as we did at the end of the course (with points to share)»
- - the law part. If I have to deal with this in the future someone else will for sure take care of how a claim is written and the rest of the structure of the application - the whole chapter related to japanese patenting is a bit unnecessary - all the technicism related to patenting - all the calculation things related to integrals and derivates, but not the calculation related to different options which are more explanatory and useful than just "for the maths sake" - it is a course with overweight, try to make it more slim and interesting. I really found interesting things to learn fro mthe course but most of the time it was boring and repeating, and many things was just a waste of time such as what was identified above. »
- Better and deeper analysis from economical perspective, it was covered but there was the most to gain!»
- Surprise assignments»
- The IP law optional assignments. They appeared to heavy for me to find incentive to finish them for bonus points on IP law exam instead of getting those bonus points for final exam. They appeared to be very good practice, but at the pace of all my courses and IP law exam in the middle of it, I could almost not find time to even consider how to tackle the problems in the assignments. If kept one should get better paid for it.»
- All the Math, even if all of us have engineering background, many of us finished our bachelors many years ago, we didn´,t use that knowledge and it was an overwhelming task to learn that again »
- More structured efforts to go through the economic modelling. There is a large responsiveness for the students to come prepared at the lectures though.»

16. Additional comments

- It"s a shame that I couldn"t finish all the questions in the exam due to the time.»
- I have talked to people in the first year and I told them I would not recommed this course, but since there is not much more available they might have to take it anyway to fulfill the 30 points per quarter. This is sad, don"t you think. I understand the lecturer in charge of the course has a PhD on this topic and has many many things to say but not all of we are going to go deep on this issue. I´,m sorry for having to write this but it is exactly what I feel regarding the course.»

- Try to make lectures more "interactive", between students and teacher, in order to make it more interesting, and more easier to learn and understand.» (Average)
- This course and lecturer would have fit for a Master in IP or a Master related to intellectual property issues, but in my case is not the case. It is a most knowing about the topic but he went to deep into something I didn´,t liked so much. If I had liked it then it is my responsability to dig more into it and search for more information about it. But it was too much for this course. I would have liked a more "straight to the point" lecturer.» (Average)
- He is a great speaker, but sometimes he wanders of the subject and misses the opportunities to really explain economic models.» (Average)
- He is an excellent teacher and he has a lot of knowledge so it was easy to ask him, though he needs to keep his own schedule and outlines per class. I understand is quite easy to extend our-self talking about this matters and get short of time to fulfill the course outlines. » (Good)
- Granstrands skills are very impressive BUT he must stay on topic during class. In the beginning of every lecture he shows the planned schedule for the lesson but never follows it. Some lectures have become very fussy.» (Good)
- interesting, but can be a little more structured» (Good)
- Many real live examples to make the theory more vivid. » (Good)
- The abilities to draw interest to the subject and to stimulate self-studying are highly appreciated. Was great to have a chance to learn from this person.» (Very Good)

- From the learning/not learning perspective I did not learn more from this format of IP law exam, bouns points, and so forth. Actually I leartn much more from the other course which was less demanding and had no exam just 2 group reports compulsory and 1 individual voluntary report .. I would have expected to learn much more from the IP course. » (Poor)
- The final exam was (in my opinion) hard, and just managed to answer 75% of the questions, in 4 hours» (Average)
- The bonus systems was to small to be really beneficial, therefore not a motivating award.» (Average)
- I think IP law exam and assignments should have a greater value than they have now.» (Average)
- very good idea with voluntarily assignments and bonus points for those, although one would like to feel more motivated with more potential bonus points to do them, otherwise 100% of grade for the exam seems reasonable within the current course structure» (Good)
- Above I commented about IP law voluntary assignments. Rest worked very well. Good to have a "midterm" exam for students to check where they stand before the final exam. If it is possible to check the results beforehand.» (Good)
- Good to have the law part as a separate exam.» (Good)
- I like courses that evaluate your knowledge in different times during the period. In this way, one is forced to keep track of the course constantly» (Very good)
- But it might be better if the voluntary assignments would not be offered that close to each other (like 3 assignments in 1 week, no real opportunity to do them all adequately)» (Very good)

- I the very begining I thought it was tremendous, but once I read the instructions and started to participate actively on this negotiating thing I came up with that it was useless. We just threw a coin and no negotiating took part. It would have been much better if we had had IP assets to negotiate and get points from real negotiating skills and coming up with interesting ways of getting these extra points.» (Very poor)
- was totally off subject, the connection is clear it is just not working in that way. Better a real assignment with clear actor backgrounds.» (Very poor)
- Just a game of chance for many.» (Poor)
- It should give incentive to actually negotiate, this was only lottery, but the idea is good!» (Average)
- It would be way more interesting if you give roles and activities to the participants so they can argue instead of going to the dies. Maybe to add one of those Harvard negotiation cases or similar, which are really good.» (Average)
- Problem that in most cases it just was about drawing sticks or throwing a dime. If there was a possibility for real negotiations that would be even better.» (Average)
- was experience for real. definitely should keep it for the next year. one can suggest to implement playing dice prohibition in the game, because it neglects the effect of negotiation and reduces learning effect significantly» (Very good)
