- Some questions were very easy while some were ridiculously hard. Where is the balance? How can the last question be solved in 2-3 hours, considering it was harder than the assignment, which we had several weeks available to solve, in groups...» (To some extent)

- T o much focus on writing reports. Sure you learn the material, but you learn it even better if you are forced to use it in an assignment. Maybe 1 large (graded) report and 2 assignments next year?» (Too high)

- The hand-ins were time consuming, taking time from doing exercises and from the other course. On the other hand I learned a lot from the hand-ins and prefere that way to learn theory, rather than studying for an exam.» (Too high)

- Not much new knowledge gained. The only thing is simplex.» (Fair)
- There are other courses that deal with optimization continuous and discrete and should be taken as a pre-requiset for this course. the course should have briefly discuss optimization in no more than two weeks and focus the rest on discrete event systems.» (Fair)
- Seems like a merging of the Introduction to Discrete Event Systems course and Optimization, basic course.» (Adequate)

- The assignment. Also the way lectures have been. Both handing out notes and writing on the board is good, because I can choose how to learn best. I"m happy with how things have been explained and illustrated.»

- More hand-ins and assignments. Maybe some course literature.»

- The amount of report writing/reading. A paper with exercises and solutions should be added.»
- The course material, since almost every student I talked to think that around 90% of the course is just repetition.»
- The teacher should change his style and give lectures in a more interesting way in order to attract students" attention.»
- Probably too many hand-ins. It is useful for the students that are going to PhD, but for others more practical tasks could be better. Lecture notes could also be written better. Not just a hand-written scans.»
- Maybe two hand-ins are enough, encouraging doing more exercises.»

- Think about fewer steps in each handin. To write coursematerial on your own, in computer.»
- No review of review of the review of the reviews please! And more information on how to solve the assignments, they were very hard.»
- The theory tasks. One group should do one instead of three theory tasks and then two groups could review them more carefully, In that way every group will get the necessary information but will only be the author to one task. In order to lessen the work load of the course!»

16. Additional comments

- the course must get started earlier in the period. This period I had two courses that didn"t start properly until the middle of the second week. This meant a large work load from the sixth week and forward»
- The course is a bit strange, it"s basically a mixture of optimization and introduction to discrete event systems, why mix those two? Also the exam was nearly only about optimization.»
