- For me, the content of the course was too general. We didn"t talk much about MANUFACTURING strategy but only about general strategy. The name of the course should not be manufacturing strategy or the content should be adopted to the field of manufacturing. For example how is the strategy of Volvo, Ford and Mercedes to manufacture or to assemble car doors.» (Negative)
- I would say neutral. Was not very fond of the course» (Positive)
- I think it is a really good course but perhaps not the right course for manufacturing strategy. The course might as well be called service or operational strategy since we nearly never touch on production (our perspective).» (Positive)

- Because of the project work, you had to read all the parts in the course literature before. The lectures was sort of a small complement to the literature. Felt like the lectures was a bit unnecessary.» (Small extent)
- Since there were a lot of guest lecturer, the read thread of the course was missing. The power-point slides were often not helpful at all.» (Some extent)

- Project took a lot of work. That might have been because my group put in 80% of the course in the project and 20% in the course/exam.» (Adequate/High)

- Nina was sick a lot so we got help from Abid instead.» (Rather poor)
- it is easy to get people for help, but I don"t think I have been answered sometimes, the quality I consider as low!» (Rather good)

- slides were really different in quality. Some of them were actually useless for studying. of course having different lectures its going to be hard, but a similar structure of the slides and material would be good.» (Rather badly)
- Please give the handouts adequate names next year. Furthermore the slides are only helpful, if they are uploaded BEFORE the lecture to write comments on it.» (Rather badly)

- Student Portalen didn"t often work, which was sometimes tricky. It would be better if you could give case handouts already during previous lecture so that we could read it carefully beforehand. » (Rather well)

- It made you do some research but not that much. Though it"s hard knowing what actually is the course... Because the exam is not = 100% course, or?» (Did not help at all)
- THE PROJECT WAS THE WORST PART!! It was based on NOTHING, and we didn"t even have the knowledge to start the project!!! You explained the basic steps in WEEK 5, that is almost 2 weeks before HAND IN!» (Did not help at all)
- Projektet var mycket oklar definierat! Det var väldigt svårt att börja med projektet över huvudtaget. Det fanns ingen rådgivning för att välja företag, vilket blev problem senare. Allmänt missnöjd med projektet, mycket från examinations sida var bristfälligt. Gällande redovisningen saknades information både i PM och hemsidan. Så man fick rätt information via vänner! » (To some extent)
- The project should be focused as well as the whole course. The ability to chose from a bakery to a car manufacturer is unfair and too vague to understand what is really important in manufacturing strategy.» (Fairly useful)

- actually i think in order to understand the theory you have to make an approach of applying it. learning to understand through cases and project helped me a lot. But 6 people for a project is way to much!!! 2 or 3 at a maximum» (Excellent)

10. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- Topic about BPO can be removed as it is not related to Production Engineering. topic regarding captive units, outsourcing, off-shoring can be retained.»
- You dont need to ship in all those people from HHS. Actually they roughly just say what"s in the book and if people does not ask anything it will only be as playing an old record without interuption.»
- More previous exams should be available online.»
- Individual grades on the report. Since some did twice as much compared to other. LOG book!!!!!! And since the project took a lot of time there was not as much time to study for the exam, even thou a lot of what we learn was from the project. Some lessions could have been earlier »

- 1- Kursen borde heta Opersations Strategy istället för Manufacturings Strategy! 2- Projektet bor göras om, det behövs mer hjälp att starta. Det gick inte att börja även om vi hade läst boken. Klarare hänvisningar, gällande det mesta för projektet. 3- Det som var oerhört dåligt var att de föreläsningarna som vi behövde ha innan vi började med projektet, kom efter att vi hade på något sätt startat vårt projekt. Med andra ord bör Jan hålla sina föreläsningar om matriser i början inte läsvecka 4-5! 4- Typtentan som vi fick tillgång till var inte så representativ med den tentan vi fick! 5- Det kändes att årets kurs-PM var förra årets kurs-PM med ändrar datum och uppdaterade tider och datum! Examination måste läsa och uppdatera den! Gällande redovisningen står det helt annan information i kurs-PM än vad vi genomförde!»
- The lectures must start earlier so the students cas start with the project. The project was not good, it was very hard to understand what we were supposed to do. And the suptervisors couldn´,t answer on what and how the work was about.»
- 11 presentations in a row are not useful. They should be split in 2 groups. Furthermore we can only improve our presentation skills, if we get honest feedback.»

- The project. There should be a way to get more information about the company. Relying only on secondary sources does not give enough information. Therefore, there are too many assumptions in the analysis.»

- The amount and quality of the literature available on "Outsourcing" etc. As it was now, there were very, very little literature available and it was poorly written. »

11. Additional comments

- The course has to get started earlier. To have half of the lectures after week 5 is not OK. To have the first real lecture in week three is also not acceptable»
- Lectures from Stockholm school of Economics professors were good and the same can be continued next year too. Forming of operations strategy matrix can be taken at the initial stage, so that it would be helpful for the students to do their project effectively.»
- Well, the course is really good! Hope it will get better and better!»
- we were a bit of surprised, when we first saw our exam questions, since we were told that the exam pattern will be same as that of the one put up on the course homepage, but it was not so.»

- The order of the lectures were really confusing. Previous exams without any solutions are not useful, we need at least some bullet points) All exam questions should be read and understand before the exam. Questions like "what did you learn in manufacturing strategy" are not suitable for an exam in my point of view.»
- lots of guest lecturers were invited for the lectures. I think it reduces the consistent flow the core point of the course. »
- I like the contect of the course in general, but the structure of this course was really really bad! Change the course name from Manufacturing Strategy to OPERATIONS strategy... »
- This was an interesting course though I think these kind of issues and tasks about strategies, structure and organize things are very interesting. Thank you for this course!»

- I think it is not ok that some of the presentations was a lot more than 10 minutes (some was nearly 20). I hope that this is something that the eximiner will take in to consideration when they grade the presentation. Ofcourse you can do a lot better presentation if you have more time.. Otherwise I think this was a verry intersting course.»
- Very interesting course. Would have been nice to have the deadline for the project farther away from the exams, either earlier or later, so that the finalization does not collide with the exams. I know that the key would have been to finish it earlier, but as it says in the course literature: real deadlines tend to always be filled out, no matter how much time is put off...»
