This makes the content difficult to follow, at times, since what I believe are the latest handouts are carefully made so that one can learn from them later, but some handouts have been more difficult to follow a month later (I believe uranium handouts were one of such)» (3)

7. Course content: IncreasePlease indicate areas you feel could be increased in the course:- The part of the course concerning lanthanides and the SHE part could be increased quite a lot.
Since different crystal structures and allotropic forms of solid state actinides are mentioned in the course it might be a good idea to explain them in more detail, since students usually don"t know what they look like. (This might be one way to increase the contents of the course)
I think it would have been nice to have some calculations in the course. For instance detailed calculations using models for nuclear stability and models for electronic structure of actinides and SHE could be included in the course.»

- The instructions in the beginning could have been somewhat clearer. As it was now there was some confusion about how the experimental work was to be performed. This made the literature search more difficult. Clearer instructions would probably have made it easier for me to increase my understanding of the chemistry of lanthanides and actinides.» (2)
- I salute you on the choice of lab-work design, aka forcing me myself to do research on the theoretical background and essentially designing my own lab exercise. This, I believe, made sure I learned a lot about the topic. » (5)

Genomsnitt: 3.66 - Projektet blev ganska misslyckat. Dels var det fick vi olika svar från olika handledare vilket gjorde att vi i slutändan var tvungen att göra om allt arbete 2 gånger. Det slutade med tat vi stressade igenom hela projektet i slutet och det hela kändes ganska meningslöst. Dock kunde vi nog ansträngt oss enn snäpp till i informationssökning, men det var svårt eftersom vi inte visste hur/vad vi skulle söka efter» (2)

- The exercise helps one to be personally involved in a topic which so often is discussed only theoretically. So to give people an opportunity to learn from working with actual actinides/lanthanides is from my perspective priceless.» (5)

- Ett större projekt verkar ganska soligt och spännande. Men kf:are har aldrig gjort någonting liknande innan och vi är väl inte kända för att vara bra på laborationer. Detta gjorde det svårt för oss att lägga upp arbetet.» (A larger project)
- It is good to try both work forms. Since we have had several laboratory exercises in the previous courses I think it is good to have a larger project in this course. In addition to the experimental work, a larger project also gives the possibility for students to improve their skills in planning of experiments and searching for relevant literature. » (A larger project)

Genomsnitt: 3.16 - I would say the textbook quality varies from one chapter to the other significantly, and thus results in something that is a textbook in the beginning, develops into a handbook in the middle and makes me lose focus as it progresses. Third edition or not, it is still full of grammatical and typographical errors, not to mention the fact that the author clearly has not made an effort in making some chapters count. And so he leaves a reader lost with statements such as "sulfides are very important", but will not explain why or what for. In areas such as coordination chemistry, this book fails. » (2)
