- The lectures were good, but I was lazy. Also traveling all the way to lindholmen takes a while so it"s not something I"m likely to do for a two hour lecture.» (25%)

- All my knowledge in optimisation was from lectures. I would suggest some extra litterarue/text documents about optimisation in general for thoose who missed out the lectures. » (Great extent)

- There were equally good literature on the net as the book for the chemical engineers.» (Some extent)
- I did not buy or look at the text book as I had a text book from a previous course still. The notes, espcially the compendium for potential flow, were very helpful» (Some extent)

- The slides from the potential flow lectures never made it to the web page? Also the delay from lecture to slides appearing on the web page was rather long. I"d prefer if the slides were available before the lecture. Actually it wouldn"t hurt if all slides for all lectures were available from day one.» (Rather well)
- Sometimes it was unclear what to hand in in the different assignments. The rest was good.» (Rather well)

11. To what extent have A1-A2 been of help for your learning?

The aim of A1 and A2 was to introduce you to the basic set-up of a viscous flow computation and give you some experience in how choices of boundary conditions, turbulence models and grids affect the results.

- A1 was excellent! Especially the detailed questions that made you think twice about what was done. A2 had potential, but such a large assignment really needs more detailed instructions. Especially on what you"re expected to show when presenting the results. It was supposed to be 7 rather large simulations which is manageable. But due to unclear instructions we easily performed 50+ simulations and even after all that they were wrong. Apparently we should have used low-Re correction, which wasn"t stated in any instructions. I want clearer instructions and questions like those in A1.» (Large extent)
- Turbulence models and boundary conditions are tricky to learn how to choose, maybe more practice could be suitable.» (Large extent)

The aim of A3 was to give some hands-on experience with RANS ship hull computations: set-up, computational cost, and what kind of results and analysis you can extract.

- It didn"t work as planned. It wasn"t possible to use what was done in the pre assignment in the post assignment. These kind of problems happened all the time with Shipflow and Friendship. All assignments using these applications were a total mess and you didn"t learn half as much as the fluent assignments.» (Small extent)

- I would like to hand in the report first and then write the reviews. It was some problems regarding the deadlines.» (Good)
- The discussion was a great way to reflect over the course content, I just wish we could have had more discussions during the lectures where maybe the lcturer gave his opinion-on the examination he did not participate in the discussion much but asked questions, which is of course correct in that time, but more discussions during lectures would be nice!» (Very good)

- Very few managed to finish the computer assignments during the time when lab assistants were available. Without lab assistants you can get stuck for hours without progress. For example in A4 some settings were missing from the downloaded files. That"s not something you can really solve by yourself without any prior knowledge about the software. The lab assistants did announce how to solve this during an exercise which helped like the two students who were that far ahead, most of the class missed it. Stuff like this really needs to be published on the web page.» (Rather poor)
- Tutors were good. Sometimes the communication between them was not great. the changes that were necessary on the tutorial guideline were not communicated to the class very well at all» (Rather good)

- If it weren"t for all the hours spent stuck on impossible Shipflow problems the work load would have been rather low.» (Adequate)

- It depends on which courses you take. The structural course was a joke, no assignments and an easy exam. The fatigue course however had four rather heavy assignments and a fairly tough exam.» (Adequate)

- I really liked the viscous part and wish there were more of it. Potential flow was rather confusing and the potential flow assignments were terrible. I wish there were less potential flow in the course. Optimization was very interesting but we barley touched it. I want a few more optimization lectures and assignments not using friendship/shipflow.» (Fair)

- The grading criteria and the examination should be preserved.»

- For the next year, some part of the lectures can be devoted to the explanation and the expected resulsts of the assignments to be done in the lab. The explanations could be theoritical based and could be related with the assignments so when we are working on the assignments we could now what to expect and be able to comment to a more extent and finally get more out of it.»

- Maybee the report should be written in groups of two and for 10 pages. There are so many areas to cover in the report it is very har to show your knowledge in all fields in only 5 pages.»

- I think that there should be a mandatory review of all the assignments together with the tutorial teachers, like in A1. To make you sure that you"ve understood everything. »

- 1. the teacher can encourage students to do some extra reading. 2. suggestion: arrange 2 or 3 student-seminars so fellow students can get more opportunities to exchange some ideas.»
- The tutors need to prepare a little better and work as a team. People cannot always attend tutorials and therefore important developments, especially when the tutors did not load the correct files etc, these should be broadcasted to everyone on the homepage»
- I really liked this course. It was better and more interesting than my expectations.»
