- Intercultural communication, Jag tyckte inte att denna kursen gav något nämnvärt. Eftersom denna kurs även inledde programmet så var jag väldigt skeptisk till fortsatta studier. Jag skulle hellre sett en mer shipping relaterade kurser i början som väcker intresset!» (Yes (1 to 2))
- Intercultural communications seemed unnecessary since it hardly brought forward any new knowledege. The course was built on the knowledge of the participants- and we have already discussed the fact that philiphinos like to sing karaoke far to many times... - 1. revise Risk managment - risk management is not about Safety and life boats on ships etc - but about risk related to business, projects, operations etc. 2. remove introduction - no need to a own course 3. human factors - relevant if your to work on the boat - but not in "MANAGEMENT". knowing how captains sit on their bridge is not useful when working in an office related to "management"! 4. In fact - I recommend a full revision of the entire master: it needs to be guided more towards business "management" - if the students are to be attractive on the job market. In other words, less "low-level" courses - which doesn"t give you an edge compared to other. (human factors, intercultural communication, introduction and "risk" management (which wasn"t about risk related to business, but about lifeboats!!) » (Yes (3 to 4))

- Less weight to environment course. Risk management is a good subject but the course needed more quality. Introduction course was unnecessary to have and maybe less weight to intercultural communication course. Leadership course needs to be designed from company"s point of view like organization and leadership in corporation and not just human to human leadership. - I can only talk for my class 07-09: 1. the idea of "cooperation between different schools" was bad and proved to be not applicable. (many bad teachers which apparently didn"t know they were doing, especially risk management) - a lot of organizational issues of what&whom&where. 2. Main Examinators and coordinator not present and out of reach (even on emails) Second and present program coordinator is much better. 3. My interpretation of the school is that it"s not professional enough and the academical requirements are way to low. 4. Grades are not given in final thesis, only pass or not. Which is a BIG drawback for people investing a lot of resources into the Thesis, but very practical for people seeking the an "easy" solution...which is quite unfair for the person working hard. This doesn"t concern only the final thesis, but several other subjects. the ones that win on this situation (pass or not) are the people doing nothing more than only required and the examinators (think of how convenient it is :(» (Probably not)

28. Do you have any general suggestions for improvement of Chalmers Master programme?

- Bedre kvaliteten på kursene, mer intensive kurs, mindre tull. Proffere opplegg rett på sak. Dårlig ledelse første året (2008-2009)»

- Increase the length of the course, but at the same time - raise the requirements for the exams and courses. Normally, 120 points take two full-time years - NOMAR do the same, but with part-time! (meaning, the requirements are to low) It should not be possible to get a pass or a 3,4 on an exam in a course, that you first start to read on the night before the exam. In other words - the requirements are to low.»
- Fewer courses and longer which I think it is the style for 2010, good! If possible better options for distance studies if it´,s not possible to attend at the gathering even if that is preferable. I think a bigger administration is needed to fulfill the demands for better distance studies. »
- The courses should be longer (which I think you have already changed). Distance studies should be made easier. At distance studies the students might need even more administrative help, than when being at the school.»
- Most of my suggestions have been forwarded and if possible changes made. »
- Focus more in core subjects like logistics and economics, and leaving the other "chit chat" subjects in minimum, which does not mean that they could be totally skipped. Focus also in the language how to write and present academic english. Many of the students (or teachers) have serious problems to express themselves in english and if the program is in english it should be correct academic english including master thesis.»

- About question 33: Since I have never had another job than my present it is difficult to answer this question. I don"t know what would be espected of me if I chose another career. Therefore it feels like I would need much more training.
