The quite loose timetable, it´,s great with just a few gates.» - I would say that most of the course should definitly be presvered. What should definitely be changed to next year?- -»- The reflective report. It was a time waster, didn´,t feel rewarding at all» - The planning and advertisement of the exhibition was really poor. Did not feel fun, good or rewarding to stand there for 9 hours when only approximately 30 persons outside the projects visited it.» - gathering of projects needs to be done better, and as mentioned goals for the project, then company cant have goals that are not fitting into the things chalmers wants out of the project. Therefore create individual goals for each project or for all projects alltogether.» - The exhibition. We sat there and the gruops talked and/or stared at each other. For next year high school classes could be invited to market Chalmers and product development.» - Earlier information about the importance of the tests regarding the grades.» - Chalmers goal and the project company goal should be in the same direction and stable. Sometime I found that there is some conflicts between them.» - The final presentation and exhibition should be pushed for more. Also, the individual assessment should be changed. As it is now, the assessment is designed as if the tasks is not meant to be divided among team members.» - The information distribution and planning of the course. Also the evaluation of the other group members must be improved. The projects require that the work is divided between the group members. Therefore more options or a chance to motivate your answers should be provided in the evaluation!» - The workshop was to early, we had to make some steps more quickly than we wanted. The Duggas took a lot of focus from the more important Product Development project. The audience was way too small in Runan where we presented our projects.» - Duggorna should be removed» - Add lectures about the PD process.» - clearer requirements and expectations » - Advertise for the exhibition in the student union building. There were alomost no one there except for people attending the course.» - Promote the Exhibition MUCH BETTER. The students have put so much time and effort on the exhibitions and there were very few people who came to see what we had done.» - The large impact from duggorna» - The information about content in the report. Supervisors could say that mandatory things weren´,t appropriate. The market-course acts like we already had begun with the project even before christmas. Result of this is what you do in that course is quite useless for the rest of the project.» - The dugga, remove it, have them as seminars with discussions instead.» - Accessibility to prototype lab should be better. Information about printers and such should be better. We got the info from Anita (halfway into the project) that we where supposed to use PPU"s printers for example.» - More company input would be beneficial» - The lectures and the dugga.» 16. Additional comments- -»- A lecture which covered the economical aspects of product development and how to make estimates on concepts etc would have been good to implement in the course. We were supposed to make financial estimates but we were not taught how to do it nor given any examples of it.» - -» - As an international student it was interesting to work in that atmosphere but it is different from what I am used to. » The project17. What is your overall opinion about the project course and that it is based on an assignment from an industrial company?- good»- Overall opinion is that it is a very good course, because it gives somewhat real experience of product development» - Good» - excellent» - great» - To many projects that not belong in this course» - Good with a real project. But the assignment should be products entirely» - Very good, like I mentioned in question 13 and 14.» - Good to have a chance to touch the real development work. It is hard for student to satisfy both if they are lined in different way. » - Very good to get in contact with an industrial company.» - Very good and it provides a better understanding of the whole PD-master.» - It is good that it is based on an assignment from an industrial company. As it is now, some companies can ask for a business plan, or market analysis, and do not want a product developed, but to fulfill the coarse goals you still need to develop a product. So either you choose products that go hand in hand with the goals of this course, or you make the goals flexible depending on the project at hand.» - it"s good» - The company requirements definitely provide a different outlook on the project as the group found to the sticking rigidly to the needs of the company. If is was a student project then well could tailor or findings to best suit ourselves.» - Great to work with "real" companies.» - Its good and very intresting to have such courses» - It wasn"t easy to complete. How did you experience the formation of the project team?- ok»- Didn´,t really get the process behind the formation» - Good» - Good, random is a good way of doing it, everybody seem to learn cultural differences great, But that also needs to be considered in the grading since some group had no exachange student and therefore had a very convenient and comfortable project.» - chaotic... » - Ok» - Good.» - It is a fair method» - My group was excellent from the start to the end.» - It follow the team development stage theory! I think our team reaches the last stage at the end of the project!» - I am very pleased with the formation.» - It is very good that the project groups are put together after the wishes of every student.» - Was not so good that only 4 out of 7 were in the group before Christmas. 3 new ones after was added including me.» - I got what I wanted, so good.» - Easy team to start working with immediately,» - Good.» - I believe the process was functional» - OK» - Very good.» - Svårt när vissa gruppmedlemar läser två kurser upptill projektkursen.» - Good» - I think it was made in a very good way» - The formation of the project team came in the later stages of the course so in the initial steps productivity was hindered.» - Worked fine.» - it was intersting and multilingual» - Not so good. Has the team-building exercise with the psychologist been useful?- no»- No, it was a waste of money. The things he said we have already heard before in courses like IPO. Next time, my advice would be that the psychologist gives an introduction to the political system of projects.... and also the shadow system of project... that feels more relevant and usefull » - Not really» - No, give us a theory lecture of forming storming.... instead, he gave us almost no tips and ways of behaving.» - no» - No» - Not so much» - Yes to some extent.» - Maybe it should be more useful if its done at a later moment in the project, once problems have already appeard » - Yes, to some extent. It gave you a hint of what the different group members wanted with the project. But maybe not necessary to be there each group individually.» - Yes, in some extent!» - Interesting, but not really useful.» - Not very much but it was still interesting.» - yes» - No.» - No, not useful at all.» - It was interesting, but not very useful afterwards.» - it just confirmed Swedish dislike to leadership and conflict» - Too some extent. The psychologist is just giving us the theori and not any practical comments on how we could proceed.» - Yes but maybe a bit too early.» - Nej inte särskilt.» - Not really, but I guess that depends, some groups might have had a bigger use of him.» - yes» - Having done something like this before it was repetitive however it worked well for others.» - Not very, but it was interesting.» - not realy..» - No, not so much. I would prefer if we talked about our personal group experience and hear individual recommendations on how to improve our team work. What we got was merely a lecture.» 22. What do you think about the contents of your project in terms of complexity, difficulty and suitability for this course?- ok»- It was very good to experience how to handle the many aspects of product development. So complexity and difficulty was on a good level. » - Good and with high complexity/difficulty.» - Not fitted to this course, that was pretty clear.» - great» - The project was very suitable for this course. BUT, in the beginning it was difficult to understand what should be delivered in May. Here the supervisor at Chalmers should have been more active, helping us getting the right information needed from the company. » - Not so big project but very technical» - High complexity and to get a grip of what we were supposed to do.» - I would like it to be a more comercial project» - Our project was very wide and open, but the company representatives supported us very good and helped us to limit the project.» - They have high complexity. They are very difficult comparing to the others but they are interesting!» - It felt very suitable, but taking the complexity of the industry it was difficult to come up with a proven solution in the short time given.» - Higher level of complexity and therefore a little difficult. But that is also a challenge and the project is very well suited for the course.» - Was more of a material project but otherwise good.» - Very good.» - I think the project I attended was rather complex for a development team this inexperienced» - OK» - It was said to be less complex than it was, all was stretched out and in the end involved a lot of other issues.» - Överlag bra, kanske lite väl inriktat på tung FEA.» - Our projects did not fit into this course, it was a business development project.» - i think that my project suited the course very well.» - Materials research was a lot more complex than that of what I was used to but this just meant a steeper learning curve and a deeper understanding of materials.» - It was perfect.» - it was approprite projects for 3 to 4 months.» - I think it was suitable, but rather difficult.» 23. How has the interaction with your company and your industrial contact person worked out?- good»- The contact was very good. we managed to get to know each other and live up to eachothers expectations.» - Very Good» - pretty good, good people on the company, takes time even though their schedule is stuffed.» - great» - Very well!» - very good» - Very good.» - At the begining we were both enthisiastic but then they lost interest» - Very good. And they were enthusiastic they really think our job was valuable for them which gave us inspiration. See also above, question 22.» - It went very well.» - Very well. Any other comments about the project, its contents and the work process?- The supervisor at Chalmers did a poor job.»- Very fun and interesting project.» - Please invite some people to the exhibition/presentation. We prepared for weeks making exhibition material, presentation etc, but almost no one saw it.» - The team building should have been done in a better way. A lot of the groups have had conflicts which is Normal, but it affects the later interaction of the individuals after the project is finished. But it has been a very good experience on who you can trust and who you cannot.» - As stated above, make the demands more flexible depending on the projects itself.» - good with the level of freedom that we had in our projects. It made it possible to choose a suitable process of our own which in itself was a very good experience.» - Everything else was fine» Lectures, short tests "duggor", and reflection paper27. What do you think about the usefulness of having this kind of exercises linked to the project work?- not so good»- Both the duggor and the reflection paper was a waste of time in my opinion. » - Ok but not great. The required design of the method report did not fit with project.» - not sufficient at all.» - no use» - Good way to learning the theory» - Ok.» - Not very useful.» - I dont think that the book is neccessary for the test since we rarely use anything from that. But perhaps you should have a look at when you have them.
