- Considering I managed to get a 4 by only attending lectures (no exercises, no coursebooks) and being interested in the subject while simultaneously taking two other courses at Chalmers and one at GU, I think the goals could very well be higher.» (No, the goals are set too low)

- i understand that the exams have to be reasonably simple because the course is mandatory in the first year of datavetenskap GU. it would be interesting to have a master level version of this course in the same way the programming languages course has, held by aarne ranta.» (To some extent)

- The lectures seemed more like a bunch of examples than explanation of the underlying principles.» (Small extent)
- Except the asistant Krasimir was a desaster. He is a great programmer and mathematician, but defenitely not someone to pass knowledge. His exercise sessions were poorly attended. Main problem was communication with the students, not able to listen and explain the answers.» (Great extent)

- I did not by any course literature. The only "other" material I took part of was previous exams.» (Small extent)
- The book was very good and gave a solid explanation of the theory with many easy to understand examples.» (Great extent)

- It"s a course which gives all you need to know about automata theory and CFGs. However, it seems to me that simply reading the course literature and doing its exercises on your own is all you need, and the lectures and exercise sessions of the course itself add little more value.» (Adequate)

- Put out answers to the test exams in time, with answers that show (more precisely) how you should answer on the real exam.»
- More exercise-lessons where students can get help with the weekly recommended exercises. »

- Perhaps clarify the goals in the student portal. They are not really much of goals right now. Also, I like exercise sessions where you can sit and work and get help for the problems you have encountered much better than those sessions we had, were a teacher simply stands and calculates on the blackboard. Such sessions give me very little.»
- Either spend more time on explaining the Pumping Lemma (*how* it works, not *why*), or don"t go into detail at all. It doesn"t seem very useful anyways, although I"m probably mistaken.»

- Although what is taught in this course is valuable, having read TIN321 (Programspråk) makes this course seem very easy and a bit silly.»
