Genomsnitt: 2 - Goals sounds good, but does not correspond to the litterature. To attain knowledge about different methods is to me another thing than to do a number of detailed calculations of manufacturing processes. A knowledge about the methods would be more interesting for us not working as economists. The aim to "Understand economic decision material and
economic reports" sound interesting, but I don"t feel we have touched upon that subject very much? At least not economic reports. It would be interesting to look into an economic report from a shipping company. In the assignment some of us might have had the opportunity to look at these and maybe also get them explained. But it was not a part of the lectures. A guest lecturer explaining this, would be interesting.» (Yes, the goals seem reasonable)

As many of us are working at the same time, and might not have internet available onboard, information has to be posted on learngate as early as possible to facilitate for those of us who are working onboard. 15. What should definitely be changed to next year?- Maybe the learning book is not the best option for this programme. It is quite complex and there is unlimited available material. Which makes It hard choose what to study. A book like: Företags ekonomi by Nancy Holmström or equal if it´,s available in english could be a better option.»

- More focus on shipping. In this course only the assignment concerns shipping. It is hard to apply these detailed analyses of companies in manufacturing business. Maybe parts of this book could be used and combined with some of the chapters in the very excellent and intereseting book "Maritime Economics" (Stopford) for att better understanding of Economics in shipping. In my opinion detailed analyses methods as e.g. regression analyses etc is not relevant for us to learn. »
16. Additional comments- Good and interesting course relevant to the programme.»
- Examination should consist of more and "smaller" questions. When you read a book like this that consists of so many different types of tasks it would give clearer picture of what you have learned if there is a broader spectra of questions instead of just a few that gives a lot of points each. I have spend more studying hours on this course than on any other course during this education and despite this, I think this was the hardest examination. You would think that if you do all the tasks and quizes on the book"s homepage you would be safe, but the calculating tasks on the examination was too narrow. »
