- During the application phase I had some difficulties but in the end, as soon as I found out who the responsible coordinator was, I got a lot of help from her.»

10. What is your opinion on programme activities encouraging contacts between students?

- Very few social activities for both international and Swedish students. Foreigners are not invited to V-committee events but only invited to events organized by CIRC (which is for the whole school not specified for Civil engineer). The study trips organized by the department were though positive.» (Poor)

- The project work was good and the study trips were very good. The social activity of the V department is more for younger students and not appealing to older students in the masters program.» (OK)

- There must be a swedish familly assigned to each international student so that he finds a familly over there in sweden so that he may not feel home sickness and depression and this is of utmost important so that he gets invlove in swedish life as soon as possible.» (OK)
- It may not fit everyone with mixed student groups. We aim at different grades, i got a 4 in structural system but had a 5 in the dugga, the rest of the group was not aming at higher grade.. It can be a problem, but in most caeses good.» (OK)

- It felt like some of the mandatory courses were just put in to fill up the amounts of credits for "master". Since I alredy knew which diretction I was interested in some courses felt unneccesary.» (Not at all)
- I had studied structural systems and material performance in my bachelor degree and they were very very basic and they were not in the level of master studies. In addition, I already had decided about my major of study and courses related to building physics engineering like heat and moisture did not make any sense for me.» (Not at all)

- För mig ligger det tyvärr inget värde i att kurserna anpassas för att passa ett större urval av studenter. Detta leder till att en allt för stor del av flera kurser startar med en stor portion repetition vilket förvisso kan vara bra till en viss utsträckning, men sedan räcker tiden inte till fullt ut till att behandla de nya delar av ämnet som man ska ha med sig från kursen. » (Small extent)

- Very hard to find courses within other programs and to find out if they are suitable or not. In the Building Performance Design part you need extra courses and some from other departments are appropriate, but they are hard to find. Also, when searching for courses it should be possible to search by category (not master program name) as Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering etc. Sometimes it is not obvious from the master program name what type of engineering it belong to.» (Poor)
- Within the programme good. But since there are not enough courses in Building Performance, the information about other suitible courses was poor.» (Rather poor)

- I got 4 elective courses (2 of them extra - just to gain knowledge on this field) from the master of Design for Sustainable Development since I was always attracted by architecture and the combination of it and building engineering. It is very important to involve these two fields and here in Chalmers I think this is one of its best advantages.» (Very good)

- Poor, to many examinations to early in exam-periods., and in my case, at the same day in period 3. That should not happend in this level of education. Sound and vibr and timber eng, Program information was ok! Good. - In my opinion, the program should have their own web page with all extra information, where all registered students have access with they Chalmer"s login ID. There should also be a mail list for the department so all registered students do get important information, which unfortunately is not the case. Students taking courses in the department but belonging to other departments should then be able to choose if they want to be on the mail list or not.» (Rather poor)
- Beror mycket på vilken kurs det gäller, men generellt har byggnadsfysik-avdelningen mycket att lära från konstruktion. Att som t ex i kursen heat and moisture inte vilja dela med sig av de lösta exempel som finns att tillgå på institutionen av den enkla anledning att de inte finns översatta till engelska duger inte, översätt dom då! schemamässigt har flera kurser valt att starta på en slö sida, och sen brakar fan lös på slutet, jag kan inte förstå varför, men det kan till viss del kanske förklaras med att de baserar sin start på repetition.» (OK)

- There are too much repetition in the courses about building materials, building physics and HVAC. About 40% of the time is spent on subjects that the swedish students already know.» (Small extent)

- Too many courses had unacceptably quality regarding teaching, reading material and context. Knowledge from several courses is hard to recollect later in life when needed, since there are no books or any organized reading material with table of contents and index. - When I started I was thinking to study only Building performance design. However, through the courses (mainly because how they were presented) I got more interested in Structural Engineering. So from how I thought from the beginning the programme has met my expectations to a very small extent. Majoriteten av (de svenska) studenterna kommer ju jobba i Sverige största delen av sitt yrkessamma liv och ifall de kommer i kontakt med engelskspråkiga kunder och länder så lär de sig ju den engelskan som krävs ändå. Dessutom, föreläsarna måste vara väldigt duktiga på engelska för att kunna undervisa och lära ut på ett för de främmande språk, på ett naturligt och okrystat sätt. Visst, en del föreläsare är mycket duktiga med många är rent ut sagt dåliga. Visst, att ha undervisning på engelska innebär ju så klar att Chalmers blir attraktivt för studenter från andra länder, men det viktigaste är väl ändå att de svenska studenterna ska få en bra utbildning snarare än att Chalmers ska få ett gott rykte internationellt?» (Bad)

- I did not even get email about the "information lecture" held by Björn in November/December. It was only by coincidence that I heard about it and could therefore attend. All information was then put on the Master course web page, which you do not get access to until you have registered to the course, which often is a while after you have started the thesis.» (Poor)

- A list with some subject ideas and with titles of old thesis in the department would have been a great help to start the search. It was very hard in the beginning to get an overview of possible subjects and interesting matters in the field.» (Poor)
