- A bit unevenly spread over the quarter. In the begining I did almost nothing an in the last week everything. The subject for the report was given already at the begining however so I guess itäs my own fault.» (Around 20 hours/week)

- One lecturer was difficult to understand. Some had a very broad field that was difficult to understand during one lecture. » (Some extent)

- The handouts where very good but still I miss a "real" book. I understand this is hard to get är book covering all this items.» (very good)
- Some parts better than others but generally very good.» (very good)
- Some handouts like ADI or Al-alloys were not really good But in general they were really good» (useful)
- It"s great with handouts and some were really good. The ADI, high-tech polymers and Al-alloy handouts were not that good as they didn"t have much text in them. I found it difficult to understand a lot of things. The ADI, for instance had a link to a paper that also was difficult. It explained some things but left many questions.» (useful)
- some hand outs like that one related to "Al alloys" was completely useless for me and "powder metallurgy" was unclear. » (useful)
- Some eg. ADI was not explaining so much just pictures and if you haven´,t heard of ADI it is quite hard to understand. Had no book so it was necessity to have the handouts» (useful)

- Yes, but should be more directed towards the course material.»

- Yes, presentations really makes you focus on your suject, as you want to know what you are talking about. The only thing I can think about is that the presentations could be divided, so there is more diversity, i.e one presentation per lecture topic.»
- It was nice to have the presentations and I learned a lot to sit there and listen. This was a fun part. Maybe have some question on the summaries on the examine.:)»
- Yes. More emphasis on the presentation in the examination of the course perhaps. I spent more time and knew the subject alot better than the report subject.»

10. Do you think the report writing added to your learning and is an important aspect of the course?

- It is also interesting but it represents quite a lot of work to work on a report and a presentation on two different subjects»
- The report, it was wery good that one question from the exam was abouth the report.»
- It seems to be the odd one out since it"s a completely different subject. Maybe a lecture on the project subject would be good.»
- It did but I would strongly suggest putting a deadline after some 3 or 4 weeks to avoid more work close to the exams. »

- I think there should be a given date when the report should be done. Week 4 of the semester would be nice, otherwise there might be a delay until after examine :)»
- Somewhat. The subject was hard because of its physical character. It was hard to make a materials report out of it as one had to start by finding out what superconductivity was and how it worked. If it could be possible to find a topic that had a more clear material-feeling about it it would have been better. Or perhaps a lecture on the topic with suggestions to what could be interseting to write about, this way you would get the basics and know what not to cover in the report and also make it easier to get in to the subject.»
- the report did not really feel like part of the course. Some more guidance on it would be good. I think the topic was interesting, but rather hard to understand sometimes if you don"t have a physics background.»

- Nice lecturer, all where both interesting and good knowledge, nice to hear abouth machines research areas.» (Good)
- I like practical knowledge more than theoretical, i.e. I believe an engineer should be able to interpret theory and adapt it into practical situations. » (Good)
- I like that, but the subjects are to spread out over so many areas. some of them was interesting, some not.» (Good)
- Really good "eye-opener" course. Lots of topics covered that I had only a vague idea of before. This makes me feel that the course should be given earlier, as it could affect the choice of courses later on.» (Excellent)

- In general it is a very interesting course, if one knows what to expect. It"s interesting to touch so many subjects but it is also a drawback since it is not very deep. I liked it though.»

17. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- Perhaps a earlier deadline for the report like in studieweek 4, "the lazy deadline student talking"»
- A lecture on the project area.»
- Regarding the topics, Aluminium is commonly well known, so that presentation could be changed to something more exotic (or just focus more on recent/special Al-alloys) like Mg/Be/Ti alloys.»
- Set a date on the report, because it changed during the time.»
- There could be some adjustments to the report writing part. A deadline in study week 6 would be good. And there could be a bit more feedback along the way.»

18. Additional comments

- Keeep the opponents. The presentations was very different according to the polymers, in polymers it was 5 minutes not more here it was 20 minutes please take 20 minutes»
- Some of the distrubuted material (from Aluminium-, ADI- and paper coatings lecture) were very bad. In case of the two first it was really difficult to understand if one wasn"t at the lecture and actually the first was difficult even though I was there. It was a very unfocused lecture. For the lecture on paper coatings it is unacceptable that the distributed paper was only an introduction to the lecture and most things werent written down. If there is no course litterature it is very important that the students get all the information by other means. Especially when the lectures aren"t compulsory. »
- All the topics about Nano-materials makes me wonder if it would be possible to visit MC2 and have a short tour of equipment, methods etc.»
- During the presentations it felt like the presenters got treated rather differently especially during questions, it almost felt like some had to defend their presentations very hard while others "got away" rather easily. The quality of the presentations where also quite uneven. It could be a good idea to give some more detail on what is expected of the presentation (in written form) so that students know what is important and so on. Also it would be good if the question part was more of a discussion, it sometimes felt like it was a way to point out the things that the presenters had missed. Also, it would be good if you were alowed to take the exam (question paper of at least first page) with you as this contains infomation you would like to have.»
- I think this has been the course I"ve enjoyed most in the advanced engineering materials master so far.»
