- No the lectures was very bad so stoped going and studied on my own» (Small extent)
- the lectures didn"t feel thought throug and I thougt that they where really unstructured and with no clear aim. » (Small extent)
- The teacher was sometimes turning to much to the materials science master students, causing the industrial design engineering students to miss fundamental issues. » (Some extent)
- He does not have a continuing theme in his lectures (röd tråd), so it is hard to follow and learn.» (Some extent)

- I think the boook where unnessecary to read since the exam where based on old exams. If we would have had a big project i think the course literature would have been good to have. » (Small extent)

- The teacher didn"t hand out recommended exercises and answer until last week before the exam. In order to really be able to take advantage of the course luterature, these documents have to be avalaible from day 1.» (Large extent)

- As mentioned before, the teacher didn"t post essential document until very late in the course, even though we requested them several times.» (Rather badly)
- Powerpoints were not explanatory enough, so they did not help my learning» (Rather badly)

- since the lecturer didn"t follow any schedule given it was impossible to prepare for the lectures.» (Rather badly)
- There were files on the website that weren"t relevant for this years course which was a bit confusing.» (Rather well)
- Although, it was a bit confusing how the personal assignments could be handed in, there were too many ways. » (Rather well)
- Most thing were put on Studieportalen well before the lectures. Sometimes it was a bit hard to figure out which handouts to bring to which lecture.» (Rather well)

- tried to get help from the teacher but could nevier get a hold of him, in the exam week we called him 3 times a day to get him to answer a question without any success» (Rather poor)
- the only way to get in contact with Lars has been via email.» (Rather poor)
- I didn"t seek so much help, but the one e-mail I sent wasn"t replied to.» (Rather good)
- Even if Lars is a very busy teacher it felt like he tried to help, but maybe some assistant would be good to have in this course, maybe who could do calculations and answer questions» (Rather good)

- The other course was more demanding» (Adequate)
- I had a project course parallel to this course which took a lot of time. So the total workload was quite high. But the proper credit distribution would have been more like 3 credits for this course and perhaps 10 or 12 for the other one.» (High)
- The other course we had during the same time took about 98% of our capacity, causing us not to be able to put the wished focus on materials selection.» (Too high)

- Didnt feel i learn anything new. Remake the whole course and dont go so much on the CES program» (Poor)
- I really don"t see why it"s a separate course and really not at "advanced level". I felt like the course contained "science" based on one single program and method and I have a hard time believe that this is used all over in industry. » (Poor)
- This was the worst course I have ever taken on Chalmers. Not that the topic is uninteresting or anything, it just seems to me there is too little content to fill up 7,5 credits. Lars also seems most keen not to get too much to do himself. There are few lectures (1-2 each week) and small assignments.» (Poor)

- Some aspects of the course were very interesting and I think it was great that we learned how to use CES. However I think the cousre did not contain enough material for 7,5 credits.» (Fair)

15. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- I think we should have a lab in how to use and understand the CES software early in the course. »
- Timely Correction of the assignments by having the deadlines reasonable earlier.»
- The assigment desprictions were too vague, it was difficult to understand what was expected of us.»

- It would have been good if the teacher told us to start with the project in the later part of the course. Now, we were told to start with the project right away even though we hadn"t learned that much. So a lot of time was wasted. »

16. Additional comments

- I think to many got the highest grade and that zero non passed is not really ok. A course at Chalmers should not be easy to pas and I think it was to easy to get a hihger grade in this course. Otherwise i think the course where interesting and after learning CES by my self I think it is a good software for the students.»
- I"m afraid I took the course since I knew that the workload would be very low. It is hard to get a serious impression of the course when the number of lessons is so small. I haven"t learned that much in the course I"m afraid. »
- CES 2008 3rd edition is effective, teacher can give a task to the student to write summery about similar chapter(s) which may help student to understand the literature itself. »
- I think it would be more useful if there is some practical classes as well, which help to guide the student in this computer program CES Edupack. At the moment everybody learned as much as the wanted, but nobody checked whether it"s enough for this course. If the computer program is there to help to learn the course material and practically use the knowledge, then some practical classes should be introduced.»
