6. How many hours did you spend on witing the reports for the project in addition to scheduled time

- a lot...»
- 15/week»
- 144»
- Maby 40 hours.»
- Hard to say but at least 40-50 hours. Had to put in so much extra time since we could never sit on fridays. I also Think that the information could have been spread much easier. Some information, like that the velocity profile had to be copied into the inlet, this was told ONCE on a friday that we could not attend and then we did not know that we should do this or how to do this. Important infomation should at least be repeated but preferably put on the course web page.»

- 40»
- more than expected. Also hard to say since both of us did changes and sometimes worked from home regarding the report.»
- 30 h»
- many! 20-30h total on top on scheduled time»
- It took a long time to write the report for the project more time that was offered in the schedule. Almost all time we spent on writing the report was outside scheduled time but i guess it depends from group to group my group we had a bit problems with the simulations so we spent the offered scheduled time for writing the report on simulating. Report took itself around 1 week to complete. »

19. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- The project in its actual form, even though it is quite time-demanding I"ve learn a lot!»
- Thought the consept was good »
- Tutorials and project»
- The project.»
- Handing out slides before lectures is very good! Easier to follow the lectures.»
- Tutorials»
- the tutorials and the great lectures content by Bengt. »

20. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- For the tutorial, it can be useful to have explained slides for the step by step instructions. So we can fully understand the effect of the different parameters we change. Also, it can save time for the teachers, avoiding repeating some similar instruction.»
- The level on the lectures were to high. And check so that you don"t have exercise or lectures outside of the scheduled block!»
- Clearer information about what should be modeled in the project. Put important simulation information on the course web page, not just tell them once or as in some cases just to individual students which gives different students different prerequisites.»
- Hand out some material for deeper knowledge, of turbulence models, derivations of closures etc. Even though the references are given in the textbook, it would be good to get e.g a copy of relevant chapters in books etc. I tried to get hold of some book, but they were not in ebook format, and buying an extra book was not an option for me.»
- Nothing really»
- Better structure and information for the tutorial and project lectures. There were some contradictory information that caused unnecessary problems. Also, the textbook would need some grammar checking.»
- The assignment descriptions were difficult to read. The tasks were spread here and there so it was easy to miss things.»
- The lectures. They should focus more on what CFD is all about and how it all fits togther than going through mass transprot theorem over and over and over again.»
- Perhaps more meshing could be involved in the course, we mainly used automatic meshing. »

21. Are there possibilities to decrease the workload in the course

We are aware of the very high workload in the course. Are there parts of the course that can be removed or parts of the course that are very time consuming but give minor contributions to understanding CFD. However, the overall objective that you should be able to formulate and run CFD projects by yourself after the course must be kept.

- The project is quite big when you considere that it is a 7.5hp course which already contain three other tutorials. Maby just one load case is enough for the project to save time. And is there a need for groups to read another groups report and oppose it? Feels like a little unnecessary because that is time needed to catch up on other courses rather than do the same thing you have done 6 times in other courses already. »
- If just the information of what should be modeled in the project would be clearer the workload would decrease a lot. My perception is that a lot of student, including myself, did not understand what should be modeled until the last week of the project. If this information would have been given direct there would not have had to be that stressful the last week. Now it felt as if we did the project just the last week and not spread over 4 weeks.»
- I think it was reasonable, maybe remove the meshing part, or help extra with it - some students had quite bad meshes, so the simulations were bad because of that.»
- I think all parts in the course are good and it"s hard to see how one of them should be removed»
- The most time consuming parts were the different simulations in the project. Maybe it could be possible to reduce the number of studied cases. For instance, perhaps two production cases (e.g. 50% and 100%) would be enough.»
- It would be good if tips about how to save the project (so that it doesn"t suddenly disappear) could be presented for the whole class. »
- Perhaps less focus on chemical reactions and more on the actual flow.»
- The workload is fair. I would not have wanted to skip any part. »
- Maybe one can send an email to the one that will start the course, about the course and the book, so people have time to studie it Before the course starts, at least have the choise to read beforehand»

22. Additional comments

- I think that the information distribution and general information about the project and the assignments really needs to be approved. I think that just by saying "In the project you should model a perfect mixing case and a five Point injection case. The temperature dependence, work load differences etc should there after be studied for the five point injection model." This short introduction would reduce the confusion about what should be done in the project.»
- I enjoyed the course very much! It has actually been the only course on the masters program (MPISC) that has not have a large overlap from the bachelor program. I would have liked that all courses had the same workload and input of new information like this!»
- Very interesting course!»
- The course itself was very good and interesting, but the workload was too high. It is understandable since this subject is complicated and new for almost all of the students. I must say that the lecturer and and the phd students who were helping were excellent! I would just like to change little bit in the beginning in the course where everything was just equations. Clarifying the equations in beginning would be good cause some dont have a clue in the beginning. but im satisfied with the CFD course»
- very good course! You learn a lot»
