- It was more like 85% - 90%, but only because of conflicting hours with another course. Otherwise I would have been there 100%.» (75%)

- Often when described the teacher tend to give "free hands", but will also say that you"ve not done for what he have asked for. It is not my intention to say that the teacher did so in a bad way, however might need to explain a bit further so that the students don"t tend wasting hours of work for something he does not approve of. Unfortunately with the mailing and so some things could be misunderstood and we"d have to little time to talk with the teacher sometimes. Clearer goals would be much better and is something that can save a lot of headache for the coming students.» (The goals are difficult to understand)

- You can set your own goals which is great, but to get the top grade I believe one have to make his other course suffer in order to be to get a higher grade. It is important as well that one is in the right group.» (Yes, the goals seem reasonable)
- Instructions for different grades have differed from the actual grading.» (No, the goals are set too high)

- I think is good to have the score spread out over several assignments. However 40 points for the last one are quite big part of it and even if I understand how important is this, it can change your grading from 3 to 5.» (To some extent)

- I appreciated very much the lectures and the guest lecture from the indie game designer. However i found the LARP lecture a bit too talking and it was a bit difficult for me to get the point of Jonas Linderoth"s lecture in the beginning.» (Large extent)
- Unfortunately there was not enough time to do more and therefore some things were skipped or breezed through, but otherwise the lectures were interesting. Involving the students during lectures by playing games created player engagement and created interest.» (Great extent)

8. To what extent has the course literature and other material been of help for your learning?

- Stafan managed to create an extremely effective way of administration, by having both twitter feeds and our own Google Schedule!» (Very well)
- The Google Calendar feature was a nice touch.» (Very well)

- Many opportunities but forced feedback sessions when e-mail is available is very bad. Also the teacher was away too often so we could never use the feedback sessions when we really needed them» (Very poor)
- Large ques, sometimes a couple of hours of waiting. Some were not able to continue they"re works until given help and there was much que. Some played ping pong to make time going (I guess you can spend your time in other things as well but it defines kinda the boredome sometimes). I think more opportunities should be available and a better que system. People just lined up outside and waited, he could have let people mailed in and made a que system incase there were many which it always was. Mail was sometimes and very often not answered in reasonable time but could go up for 1-2 weeks before you knew that some of your assignments has passed or failed.» (Very poor)
- The teacher was extremely welcoming us for supervision, pushing us to ask for feedback. However due to the number of people in the course we didn"t have enough time in my opinion. Moreover sometimes it felt really hard to interpret the teacher feedback and make use of it.» (Rather good)
- Unfortunately the teacher was gone during a week or two when we were creating the board game and needed supervision, but this perhaps couldn"t be avoided. Otherwise, supervision times were good, and we got feedback when we asked for it.» (Rather good)

11. How well has cooperation between you and your fellow students worked?

I did not seek cooperation»0

Genomsnitt: 3.47

- At least 50% of the grade is based on collaborative assignments, so it"s good, and also the exercises provided discussion and creative environment. However we had a problem with a student who did not much for assignment 3.» (Rather well)
- Many students are motivated to work hard here, I believe that everyone wanted the best for the group, and of course sometimes things just happen to butt in so everyone might not be able to be there at all time. Unfortunately one of our students was doing his master thesis as well and therefore did not put as much effort as the others and the others had to do more share of the work. Even though we understood that it must have been rough for him/her it is still suffering if that person just wants a pass grade on the course and the others wants a higher grade.» (Rather well)

12. How was the course workload?

- Very good work pace and workload amount, maybe too much of writing after all.» (Adequate)
- A few assignments felt that they were tough, but perhaps this is because of lack of experience and knowledge. The last assignment took a lot of time but this was also because the topic was very new (gameplay style) and undefined. I would rate the workload somewhere between Adequate and High, but it wasn"t too bad.» (Adequate)
- It felt like it wasn"t distribuated right, I think the first parts could have been done so much faster but we got lot of time on us. Than the last assignments got pretty heavy, and it"s heavy when you need to study to other exams as well. It could have been better to put students directly into a high pace of working instead of speeding it up in the end.» (High)

- Very disappointing. Looked forward to this course the whole year, will not recommend to other students.» (Poor)
- The course have potential to become a better course. But there is too much restraining in the course into understanding board games. Even though it is one of the fundamental starts in how gameplay was evolved, most students were hoping for a course more layed in an interactive level where"d they be able to maybe have time to produce more stuff.» (Fair)
- It needs some improvements in how much time we have for supervision and where this time is along the course.» (Good)
- It was a very interesting course, I learned many things about how to analyze games and ways of studying them.» (Excellent)

15. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- The structure»
- home exam»
- playing games!»
- main lectures and indie game designer guest lecture.»
- Everything was a great experience!»
- Game Sessions and prototyping of a game»
- game session, exercises,»
- Wednesday Gaming Sessions»
- Designing games ourselves, guest lectures»
- Allocated time for board game playing for analyzing, board game evenings, creation of a game and playtesting. »
- weekly group exercise»
- Game programming would be fun.»

16. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- Final assignment could be a bit more explained»
- all is fine»
- perhaps a bit clearer infomation on what Staffan wants from the assignments. yes, it is stated in the briefs, but usually just as one short sentence that can be difficult to interpret»
- clarity in feedback.»
- too much writing in assignment»
- Amount of written assignment and number of lectures should be reduced.»
- It would be good to perhaps spend some more time on some important aspects, like the Component Framework and other analysis tools. »
- the final assignment»
- Less board games, more heat in the begining so we can finish things up faster at the end.»

17. Additional comments

- I would like to see more stuff about video games in comparison with board games!»
- some requirements of the assignment are not clear enough, so will cause some difficulties for me to understand. however, the teacher is offering sufficient supervision, which is very good.»
- I think the syllabus was a too big considering the course to be the doorway to game design world. There are so many students who are not good gamers but good interaction designers. So, instead of one course, there could be one more course like "Advanced Gameplay Design". Because there are many things in games that are useful for Interaction Designers but they dont want to build a career in games. Gameplay Design course should be designed based on the basic games or other games that can be played during the gaming session at school. There were too much theories for one course. Adding few more literatures and diving them into two courses could be a good idea.»
- Excellent teacher and very interesting materials. Definitely the best course I had so far in the programme. The workload was a bit high, but felt very fulfilling at the end. And due to the other course this course was paired up with in the same study period, the workload was manageable:)»
- It was good that we had some exercises to do within a certain time frame in order to get us going.»
- feedbacks should be more specific and clearer to let the student follow a path to the specific goal»
