- Great course, very interesting and Risat is a very good lecturer» (Excellent)

14. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- The lectures and exercises were very well done. It must be preserved in the same way»
- Risat, very good lecturer. The best I have had this far during my university studies. Making sure everyone know what he is talking about and if not a fast explanation on how it works, e.g Bin packing algoritm.»
- Risat"s energetic way of being should definetly be preserved - thus far he"s one of the best teachers (as in people who are good at teaching) I"ve seen at Chalmers.»
- The way the lectures were held.»
- Excercise sessions, very good! Lab was nice too and the lab assistants helpful»
- Inteactive exercise sessions»
- Scheduling, real-timr programming in c»

15. What should definitely be changed to next year?

-
- 75% of the difficulty of the labs was due to the hideous toolchain. The compiler was odd and buggy, the program loading was utterly slow and the boxes were very glitchy. The IDE didn"t even have a Ctrl+S shortcut for saving. I would have traded working with a real box that emits sounds and has a blinking light with doing more exercices on a virtual machine or anything equivalent that works better and faster. Also, it would have been very interesting to try to implement some scheduling algorithms and see how they perform or do some light variant of tinytimber. The lab was about programming in a real-time system environment rather than programming real-time systems. I would definetly trade Brother John for implementing something like tiny timber. It wouldn"t sing but it would bring me closer to real-time systems.»
- More labs and more connection between the labs and the lectures, now they are verry separate.»
- The labs team collaboration should be restructured.»
- Maybe some indication that part 2 of the assignment can take some time»
- It might be enought with 2 lectures per week»

16. Additional comments

- "I"m not sure there"s a non-recursive way of computing the n-th Fibonacci number" said someone in the course staff and then wrote a recursive solution that branched for every term and completed in exponential time. This is an advanced level course in the Computer <...> department. You must have known about the fibonacci sequence for years from any basic math or CS course. Computing fibonacci numbers is one of the most basic things taught after you learn what a LOOP is. Not to mention that anything recursive can be rewritten iteratively and vice-versa (there"s an equivalence proof, and it"s not like the processor knows what recursion is - the recursive C functions get transformed into iterative assembler code).»
- Risat and Dimitri are good but TinyTimber is not a good kernel, use something else that is more resource efficiant.»
- This course is excellent. The teachers and TAs are very very good. Small suggestion: I think I would learn more, if in Lab part2, there are more things related to schedule, except "AFTER", and more tasks related to mutual exclusion. »
- Risat was excellent, especially at the laboratory sessions. The other lab assistants were also ok.»
