- I think the exam was a bit tricky and that it should have been more basic questions in order to show that the student understand the theories behind the FE-computations» (To some extent)

- A great teacher, but the PhD students were not so good. In particular the one who only attended the computer tutorials and not the ordinary tutorials.» (Large extent)

- The voluntary assignments should have been available earlier and the mandatory assignments should have been graded and handed back before the next assignment was to be handed out in my opinoin» (Rather well)
- It would have been nice to have had all the assignments and extra assignments along with the beginning of the course since there was a lot of spare time which could have been used on these assignments! It"s nice to get things dona as early as possible.» (Rather well)

- At the computer lessons it was only Thomas was the only teacher who was really able to explain and solve our problems with FEMAP» (Rather poor)
- Again, the examiner was great at answearing questions but a bit hard to find when it wasn"t time for a computer tutorial. One of the PhD students (Reza) didn"t seem to know anything about FEMAP nor the assignments so he wasn"t able to answer any questions» (Rather good)
- Some assistents had no experience in femap, which just slowed the groups down» (Rather good)

- my partner did not attend any tutorials or any other things happening at school, so very hard to work with. Would be better to work with the assignments alone (as was the actual case for me)» (Rather poorly)

- The assignments took a great amount of time and the voluntary assignments took too long compared with how many points you get for the work (would have been better time spent studying for the exam than doing the assignments.» (High)

- I have had 3 courses before which in one way or another which explain the Finite Element Method and I think Thomas Abrahamsson made a really good job explaining the method which I know can be quite confusing.» (Good)

15. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- The PhD students!»
- Give the assistants for the computer assignments better training in the used FEM program. (See additional comment). Maybe also hand out a solution for the given exercises that are not worked through during the lectures. Please also update the instructions for the mandatory assignments 2 and 3 since it was often not clear what was meant in the written text. More pictures could simplify that and save unneccessary questions during the comupter exercises. Please also give out an errata-list for the book of Liu and Quek, the book is unfortunately full of mistakes. - Better knowledge about femap amongst some of the assistants. Improved black board exercises, needs better structure»
- The PhD student should be able to hold better problem solving exercises but most of all be more acquainted with FEMAP»

16. Additional comments

- A good course over all, but the assignments took too much time and the PhD students did not have sufficiant knowledge in the FEA-Program nor did they know enough about the assignments to be of help. »
- It was a pity that the assistants during the computer exercises were not better than the fellow students at the program FEMAP. Nearly every time I asked them for help, I did not get any more information than I already had before through the self-tutorials. In most situations they could not help at all and one time they even gave the wrong advice. Only the professor did know more about the program than the others and he also had good advice. The assistants must defenitely have better training in the FEM program that is being used in this course!»
- Since there students from various backgrounds, there maths is at different levels. We expect a list of mathematical concepts which is given to students so that they will come prepared for the lecture. Otherwise they don"t understand the problem because they don"t understand the mathematical concept behind it.»
