- I work full time so it was not possible. I was following as closely as possible though, by reading and doing the exercises.» (0%)

4. What prevented you from attending exercise sessions?

- It would have been beter with fewer exercises and prepared solutions at the end. Alternative that the students read the exercise for 5 minutes and gave it a try, then the teatchers showed the solutions and explained the method to use. »

- Assignment deadlines on the same day. My time was better spent at home solving the mandatory assignments. Exercise sessions on fridays would have been better.»

- I did not like them. I would had liked those who held the sessions to give a problem, maybe give a hint 15 minutes later, and in the end solve the problems for the whole class. The way I learn the best is to try to solve the problem myself, preferably by discussing with a friend, and then getting a presentation of how the problem can be solved. Since I had other obligations, the whole sessions became frustrating.»
- The exercises were too difficult and had no huge relation to the lectures. And I had the feeling that the exercise were quite a lot related to the preceding algorithms course, which I did not attend at chalmers.»

- The exercise sessions weren"t a priority since the lectures and hand-in assignments felt more important to prioritize to get a good grade. I think most people felt that it was more worth working on the assignments than attending at the exercise sessions even if they probably were good.»
- They had the wrong approach. I would like to see some examples exercises solved during the exercises instead of just working of your own. The exercise sessions was not presented that well. The exercise room was not optimized for working on your own with exercises but rather listening to a teacher doing exercises on the black board, and the approach with the exercises was the opposite.»
- I thought it was enough to do the assignment and focus on them instead. It was to much to do other exercises aswell and I don"t think I learn very much from being there. I think it would have been better to have exercises were someone showed how to solve some examples instead and show how to formulate the answers in the assignment. »

- "Linear programming" is one of the bullet points in the course content list, however the course doesn"t cover that much LP compared to other parts - Network Flow for instance. Idea: perhaps have couple of LP problems in one of weekly exercises.» (To some extent)
- I did not have time to do all the exercises on the exam since it clashed with an other exam. I liked the hand in assignments and the opportunity to get direct feedback.» (To some extent)

- It was high in the beginning of the course because of the two first handouts. I thought that the first two handouts were a lite bit too much to do in a week and that the last handouts where to easy. » (High)

- Not definitely, but maybe some sections from chapter 12 of the course book (even though I guess that local search is part of other courses).»

- The problem sessions. I can do problem solving at my house. I would like to change these sessions, instead of having the student solve problems, the teacher can solve them on the board by teaching how to think over the problem and explain how to think and what techniques to use.»

- Sometimes the slides can be hard to read if you missed a lecture. Not a major problem but worth mentioning.»

- This is a subject I really enjoy, and I believe that the course was very good. I did invest a lot of time in the course, but despite this, I did not pass. I am unsure why I didn"t manage to solve the exam questions, but apparently, I did not become skilled enough in the problem solving. »
