- The assigned teacher was very bad. His English was not good enough for a being a teacher or teacher aid. This lead to bad lectures and absurdly bad discussions. However, the examinator (Jan Bosch), who made two guest appearances was good. But he is also responsible for the bad quality of the rest of the course since he assigned this PhD student to be our "teacher".» (Small extent)
- Very vague and the english during the lecture did not meet it"s expected standard» (Small extent)
- The only good lectures where the one with Jan bosch and they where kind of hard to fit into the course since all other lectures were really bad.» (Small extent)

- It was very unclear, what and how to do things? Also what the purpose of certain tasks were.» (Rather badly)
- Wiki was OK, but please use PingPong instead. PingPong can do all of the things we used the wiki for (I believe).» (Rather well)

- You could ask questions, you could get answers, but not always were they connected to the question you asked.» (Very poor)
- The assigned teacher and a teacher aid was present at our "workshops" but they were both really bad at explaining and to answer questions. A lot of the time we did not understand what say said or meant. They both gave the feeling of not being competent at all of the course content (lets hope that was not the case...).» (Rather poor)
- There was opportunities to ask question, however, to get a clear and informative answer was almost impossible.» (Rather poor)
- It was easy to ask questions but not to get an answer. The teacher never had to exact answer and had to check with someone (jan?) all the time. Sometimes when we asked what he wanted he just answered "whatever you feel like" » (Rather good)

- Some students in our group did not contribute their part to the hand-ins, forcing the rest of us to redo the work to be adequate. This resulted in some strains in the group and finally the removal of a member from the group.» (Rather well)
- Six people in a group to write a report is too much! Please out a limit of four people next year. Yes, it will cause more work for the TAs but it was not giving at all for us to work in groups of six for this kind of work.» (Rather well)
- Team members are friendly and have good ability to study. We collaborate very well.» (Very well)
- Through discussions managed to learn something in the end.» (Very well)
- Except a problem we had with one of the group members who did not work at all and ended up being eliminated from the team, I worked in a great team and the cooperation between us lead to us learning a lot and doing a great job.» (Very well)

- Would not recommend anyone to take this course. By the book or study SPL on the internet instead.» (Poor)
- It felt that Bosch should have done the lecture instead of his PhD student that did not know enough about the subject.» (Poor)
- A really bad course, everything sucked. At this state i would recommend my fellow students to read something else, anything else. The subject is interesting and relevant to my education but the course need to be restructured. » (Poor)
- Teach knowledge of software product line through lectures, the company case study and the team work.» (Good)

14. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- The exam. Was a very good and well designed exam!»
- team work, assignment, company case study and lectures.»
- The BAPO-framwork, the lectures with Bosch that was very good.»
- Jan Bosch"s guest lectures»
- The case study»
- The instructors are very helpful. The hands on teaching style makes it less work to do before the written exams.»
- Jan Bosch"s lecture were very interesting and inspiring, although his slide were quite difficult to understand. I hope that next year gets the chance to have lectures with him as well as he knows a lot of the area.»
- The project which was definitely helpful in learning the SPLE aspects should be preserved to next year.»
- the way of teaching »
- The assignments were pretty good and helped the learning»

15. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- The assigned teacher. Please remove him from teaching or put him in "teacher training" and an English course. The size of the project groups.»
- None.»
- The questions and assignment needs to be definied clearer, the purpose of the course should better respond to the task done during the course.»
- The teacher should be more motivated! "What do you think?" is not an adequate answer to questions!»
- The teacher, the information, the structure of the weekly hand ins. The information about exam, Seriously.. everything.. This course is not enough for a masters course»
- N/A»
- It was not until I had done the exam that I actually got a sense of what the course really was about and what aspects of the course that were important to learn. I think that the different parts of the course (the case study, the lectures etc) should be more focused on presenting what knowledge that is important for us to know. As it was now, almost all the effort I put in this course was laid on the case study and doing the Family evaluation framework. But knowing those things were only a little part of the whole course, yet they seemed to be the most important parts. The lectures didn"t feel so good to me. The guest lectures were great but the normal lectures seemed like the weren"t properly rehearsed, and the presentation lacked any sense of inspiration and motivation to me. As such I never put much effort into learning what had been said during the lectures as they didn"t seem important. To me they seemed like the kind of information a lecturer might present to an interested student, but which is not really any information that is going to be required on the exam... Or sort of. I hope you can understand what I mean. This is probably why I felt that the course never gave me a good vision of what Spoftware Product Line engineering is about, and what knowledge is important to carry with you when you graduate.»
- The teaching methods should definitely be changed to next year.»
- the structure exam»

16. Additional comments

- I think it was poor judgment and disrespectful of Jan Bosch to assign this PhD student to the course. The guy (PhD student), obviously, did not want to be there and his teaching was beyond bad. Add to this his bad English skills and you have complete failure. Mr Bosch must have known this on forehand, and that angers me. Easily the worst course I have taken at the SE Master.»
