- Only one exercise session, but almost all lectures.» (75%)
- I thought it was good.. The class was bad at answering questions, not engaged enough. One of my lecturers that I liked went around the room each lecture asking each and every person in order. Might not work every time, but it might be worth a try. » (100%)

- Most knowledge have I gathered through the course litterature and Internet. About the lectures: it was really hard to follow them due to the fact that the lecturer moved forward and backwards a lot, like she wasnät sure what was comming or what she had said. Like she had received the power point the last night... » (Small extent)
- Due to double scheduling I could not attend all.» (Small extent)
- The demonstrations were very helpful and most of the slides, however sometimes we skipped over important information, and other times we spent too much time on small details.» (Some extent)
- Please publish slides ahead of time.» (Some extent)

- Nothing! Useless sessions, the last one before the exam the teacher goes through ONE example for 1.5 hours which he says that he do not even understand and it takes soooo long time. He says that he is not really prepared which is beutiful when you want him to talk about the exam and maybe take some more examples instead of one... The other ones has been bad as well just sitting there and looking when he does things, what is the point? » (Small extent)
- The exercises where pretty bad. A uninspired teacher that was unprepared for the tasks. I went to all exercises, but I would didnt go there again. » (Small extent)
- Only been looking at solutions after the exercises.» (Small extent)
- Did not attend many sessions. Too slow.» (Small extent)
- They didn"t work for me.. Went in one way and out the other, also some of the content of the course was stuff I feel no need to learn.» (Small extent)
- A new teacher should be found for the exercise sessions.» (Small extent)
- It was too bad and kinda waste of time being in these sessions. Most of the time, the teaching assistant just showed the answers directly with very little of giving instruction on how one should think when solving each question in the exercises. Hence, it makes almost no difference between being in the exercise sessions and reading the answers on the homepage» (Small extent)
- Lack of effort from the exercise teacher» (Small extent)
- Not really well explained.» (Some extent)
- Good exercises, but sketchy answers and focus on the more trivial things.» (Some extent)

- No feedback from lab supervisor for the assignment » (Small extent)
- Took up way too much time for what was learned, actual lab sessions would probably have helped this.» (Some extent)
- It had been really good to have some labsession with the labteacher, to get feedback and ask questions. I think we would have got more out of the labs if we had labsessions.» (Some extent)
- Only part I participated in this year. » (Large extent)
- Good assignments, but why not add an assignment on debugging and cut down the last one a little bit? And move the deadline back a couple of days so it is not sooo damn close to the exam? Received feedback one day before the exam... Stress... » (Great extent)
- I learned so much from the labs! I wish that the feedback could have been more detailed/expansive though.» (Great extent)
- Learnt most of the theory of the course/hard facts. The lectures helpt me mostly with the why we are doing this.» (Great extent)

- I think it is a good way of learning.. but the class also has to want to answer the questions.» (More interaction in lectures)
- The randomness of the quiz moment brings an element of mandatoryness to the lectures, which is bad. » (About right as it is)
- The quizzes are helpful, but I didn"t think the discussion questions gave much benefit.» (About right as it is)
- It would have been good if the answer to the quizzes was in the lectures slides. I think some quizzes didnt have the answers on the slides that was available for downloading. Yes ok the answer is revealed during the lecture, but it would be good to have it available later in the course (like when you study for the exam).» (About right as it is)
- I like interaction» (About right as it is)
- It"s a waste of time. Doesn"t help the learning at all (at least for me and those I spoke to about it). Having 10 minute discussions I feel it not worthwhile.» (No interaction in lectures)

- didn"t use any of it.» (Small extent)

- Would be really nice to have exercises and labs and lecture slides put up on page earlier.» (Rather badly)
- Please publish slides before the lecture. It doesn"t matter if they are 100% accurate (say, last years), as long as one has something to look at beforehand. Exercises were published very late at times - at one time even after the actual session. Labs were decent. It was unclear during the JML lab whether or not we were done. Since we couldn"t actually test the specification in any way (apart from the syntax). The only way to really find out was to submit.» (Rather badly)
- Why excersices could not be posted earlier I can notunderstand tough.. And why not post all the labs earlier as well.. » (Rather well)
- It"d be great if slides were uploaded before the lectures, apart from that everything was great.» (Rather well)
- Apart from that slides was always put up after lectures, which makes it harder to study from home.» (Rather well)
- Course administration, web page and handouts worked perfectly. Then the correction of the lab assignments was very bad, it was too slow (but that depended on who the grader was).» (Very well)

- Intreseting on paper but poorly executed, to bad, was hoping for a lot more! » (Poor)
- Lectures were (too) slow paced and had annoying quiz-elements. I want the content of a lecture to be delivered in a clear and concise way. Not having slides available beforehand does not contribute to this. Exercises were iffy at best. Please spend less time on trivial things so that the interesting things gets more. » (Poor)
- Trying to forget everything about it except for the few things i actually learned.» (Poor)
- Some of the content did"t appeal to me. The hoarelogic and JML is something I"ll never use, maybe it is good for understanding testing logic. I"m not sure if it will make me a better programmer tho. Maybe I choose the course for the wrong reasons but I would have liked to understand the applied bit better. I would like to be convinced that I really need to do tests of code as it saves me alot of time, the problem is I wasn"t in this course. I"ve used JUnit and find it useful, its quite easy stuff.» (Fair)
- Interesting subject and fun course. Thanks! :)» (Good)
- Just a better explaination during the exercices session and it would be perfect.» (Good)
- Despite some roughness in presentation, the course goes through many new and interesting topics and was well worth taking.» (Good)
- Overall it was very good, but the slow grading of the submitted assignments makes it only "Good" and not "Excellent"» (Good)
- Very useful course.» (Excellent)

17. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- course litterature with extensions!»
- Everything»
- The lecturer»
- Lecture slides»
- Definitely do the demos, especially since Key-Hoare is a very finicky program. Its highlighting system is unstable when first learning, especially since highlighting controls which commands can be accessed. In fact, spend more time on that. We had more problems with that program than the proofs themselves.»
- Labs. Lecture content was good. The guest lecture was a nice addition. Publishing of solutions to exercises should be kept as well.»
- JUnit testing »
- Graham as "teacher" and the concept of the labs And with concept I mean that all the labs is based on the previous assignments to make "one big system" (instead of creating e/r diagrams for one domain, tables for another, triggers for a third, javacode for a fourth...)»
- Moa is a great teacher and the slides she used this year are very good. »
- The lab assignment definitely was very helpful.»
- Tools used in the exercises/labs»

18. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- hate to say it but the exercises was really bad and the teaching in lectures could have been a lot better. From what I understand this was Moas first year teaching this so I am sure she will do better next year! But Gabrielle did not look like he wanted to be there, especially the last excerscise which was a disgrace! Why was there no recap or something like that for the exam? »
- Insert lab-session»
- The exercises. A more prepared and inspired exerciseteacher would the course really benefit on.»
- Exercice sessions»
- The exercise sessions»
- The teacher was good, but very unprepared in the lectures. I know this was her first year teching this course so understand why, but she could have prepared mode.»
- Exercise sessions»
- Cut the "sit and discuss for 15 minutes with someone beside you" moments, but the lecturer shouldn"t be afraid to take a 5 minutes break if needed. People will understand.»
- Publish slides beforehand. Skip the quizzes. »
- Think trough the exercises again and how you would capture the attention of students. »
- ¤, The persons who is grading the lab assignments should make sure to correct it on time. In my opinion, my (our maybe I should say our since it was a group assignment) was too slow when correcting the submitted files. For the first assignment it took a week to get it graded (and we submitted several days before first dead line). During the week we waited, other groups had their labs corrected (and rejected) several times. For the second assignment, our lab was corrected for the first time on the afternoon of the day before deadline. If we take in consideration that we have other courses and my and my lab partner have different schedules, we didn"t have time to meet up and fix the reasons for our reject, so we didn"t have time to submit before the final deadline. If this would have been our 2nd or 3rd reject I would understand that is was so close do final deadline, but not the first. For lab assignment number three, this was corrected: after final deadline, after we finished lab assignment number four and even after we got assignment four graded in fire! This is to bad! This should be corrected before we even should start on assignment number four since all assignment is based on the previous one. ¤, It would have been good with a few extra labs, however it maybe isn"t enough time? It would have liked a lab assignment on XML. I think the exam questions (not just our exam but the previous exams too) was kind of hard to solve. I think that if there was a lab on writing Xpath/XQuery expressions the understanding on how to write these would be better. By doing this it is easier to understand how all the different expresstions work and what result they have, rather than reading about how they work. I also would have liked some sort of simple lab on indexing a table in SQL just to make sure how to do it and also to see how much of an improvement it is.»
- A new teacher should be found for the exercise sessions.»
- The interactive quizzes while often good and interesting sometimes felt meaningless and boring. Maybe some could be changed to not be questions about was what just said by the lecturer and instead look toward the upcoming topic.»
- The way the exercise session were carried out. The teaching assistant should be more active in guiding how one should think in solving each question, select typical/important questions to analyze and answer on the blackboard instead of giving all of the answers directly with little explanation.»

19. Additional comments

- Hope it gets better for the students taking this course next year, because it could have been a really good course... »
- You should probably mention very early on and often with JML that there are actual programs that make it useful for verification, beyond basic cases, even if they aren"t covered by the course. My lab partner and I thought it had no practical use until the subject came up during a lecture near the end of the course.»
- I think it"s safe to assume some kind of background in discrete mathematics (studied in the first year)!! Meaning you don"t have to explain logical equivalence and such basic concepts. I"d also like to ask the TA to speak in a louder voice. Some lecture rooms are quite big!»
