- The simulink work took too much time. I think the course covered a too large area. I didn"t have time to learn as much as I would"ve wanted. The lectures the first week was too advanced. The majority af the students were far behind during the entire course.» (?)
- Yes it is a great way of imparting knowledge» (Yes, the mix is good as it is)
- but the main problem is that people kill much time trying to troubleshoot Matlab errors rather than understanding the subject itself..» (Yes, the mix is good as it is)
- But to hand out an assignment the last week is not good. If you feel the need to have 7 assignments then they should be well prepered and handed out to the students earlyer then the last week!» (Yes, the mix is good as it is)
- The project is good, it helps us understand well but it takes too much time, so that there should be some part of grade for it!» (No, more lectures & tutorials and less projects)
- The amount of lectures and tutorials was good. But it feels like the information on the lecture was heavy. The project work took way too much time. Just programming each assignment and make it work could take one to a few days. Very frustrating. » (No, more lectures & tutorials and less projects)
- The projects was very demanding!!!» (No, more lectures & tutorials and less projects)
- In my opinion it would be better to have a theoretical lead before starting the project and then in a way check/prove this theoretical knowledge. Interestingly, I just have the feeling that after completing the course and studying for the exam I am now at a point to understand what we were doing and that I am now ready to start a (even more difficult) project about IM drives. But now the course is finished...» (No, more lectures & tutorials and less projects)
- It was quite heavy to have seven such projects in eight weeks, but they were very interesting!» (No, more lectures & tutorials and less projects)

No, it was tough but still OK»6 27%
No»0 0%

Genomsnitt: 1.81

- the first assignment was large» (Yes, it was too much to do)
- We (swedish students) have never had a course in Matlab. Not even an introductory.. So it"s always difficult in the beginning each time we are to use the program.» (Yes, it was too much to do)
- I think it is a bad idee to put a laboration the day after we started after holiday since there was homeassignment to do.» (No, it was tough but still OK)
- The provided theory is needed to manage the work that is going to be done later in the course» (No, it was tough but still OK)
- I think it was good to get started immediately, but maybe the first project could be a little bit smaller so that the students do not fall behind that far. And some more help for the home assignments for the first project.» (No, it was tough but still OK)

- It is correct that the first week"s lectures was too advanced and quick and the first project assignment took too much time. Help the students to get through the first project assignment and lab assignment in class (after the lab).» (?)
- I was in phase in the end but then I spent too much time on this course compared to the credits, especially in the start of the course.» (Yes, but I was in phase in the end)
- And also better instructions of the assignments so the programming becomes easier. Perhaps more prepared code in the end, like in assign 7. » (Yes, then the work load would be more even)
- I think that it was very good as it was now with the lab and assignments. » ( No)
- it is okay as it was » ( No)

12. Should more of the projects be prepared as project 7, please comment.

- Maybe something like it but in the same time it was good learning to work with the coding. But it was too big, it was difficult to get an overview..» (?)
- It is good to let us do everything but we also need time to study other courses» (Yes, but only some of the last projects)
- Maybe we can do 3-4 projects ourselves over longer time than a week, and then just look at graphs or something of other assignments. Then there should not be any assignments in study week 7.» (Yes, but only some of the last projects)
- it is good to learn how to inplement things in simulink, but when you have done it three four projects you get a pretty good grip of it, so the last two three projects can be more prepared. A common scenario was to spend lot´,s and lot´,s of hours searching for errors, which most often was that you have typed something wrong or forgot something and that was frustrating and very time consuming.» (Yes, but only some of the last projects)
- I think it was very good to use Simulink and Matlab, I also think it helped in understanding and learning the different parts of the drive system. But maybe the last two or three projects could be prepared as in project 7. » (Yes, but only some of the last projects)
- As the work-load was too heavy maybe this is a good idea. Though it"s a good way of learning the way we did on the first project-tasks.» (Yes, but only some of the last projects)
- I think it was very good as it was now that project 7 was prepared but that we had to implement the first 6 projects.» (No)
- cause with this project, i can study intensive about Matlab and electric drive operation more clearly» (No)
- The other assignments was enough so peronally I think assignment 7 was unnessecery!!!!!!!!!!! So much to do anyway» (No)
- This approach gives a good understanding. But assignment 7 is needed to be prepared otherwise its not possible to finish the project in time» (No)
- i completely disagree if so we dont learn that was the only time we really digest simulink as the load is high it was good to have project 7 ready but still others we do ourselves. that is great. leave us to do it » (No)
- I appreciate having to do almost everything on our own but maybe there should me more guidance at least in the beginning because not everybody was familiar enough with Matlab.» (No)

- they are all intresting, but they should not be this time consuming. Now I didn"t practice enough for the exam on the turorials and stuff like that, which are the only thing that will decide my grade on the course by the exam. So... If the projects are to take this much time, they should be a part of the grade somehow. Right now it feels like I wasted my time on them.» ()
- They are very relevant because i dont know it before the course» ()
- I think the content is ok» ()
- all are very much related to the course. the course was done in an interesting way.(lecture, tutorial, then lab) it was all fine » ()

- I think that all of the tasks where good in their own way, it"s hard to leave one out.» ()
- It was confusing to use another machine all of sudden and the later go back to the first machine again» (Project 4, PMSM)
- Not sure about 6 and seven, the may be interesting if you have gone through the rest but in total it"s too much.» (Project 4, PMSM, Project 6, Field weakening, Project 7, Digital control)

14. Is it some project task that is missing?

- I don"t know.»
- None»
- maybe you can add project about position controller»
- Maybe it would be fine if there were a task involving a real converter, to improve understanding»
- as to the lecture, the projects completely represent what should be done on the project. well done. i dont think there is anything missing»
- IMHO a task about 3phase inverters would be interesting, too, but I guess that would blow the schedule completely...»

- Stefan really knows this subject and he is good at explaining and seam to have good patiance with us.» (Very good)
- Stefan and Johan were very helpful. But in the end I found out that it was better to ask Stefan since he was more careful and really checked what you had done in the different projects, so it was more likely that he would found something that we had done wrong or misunderstood than Johan. He took more time checking and asking questions to us. » (Very good)

20. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- Projects»
- Less projects our selves»
- Everything»
- everything»
- Stefan»
- Stefan as a lecturer and tutor. A very good teacher.»
- project assigments»
- Computer labs, maybe in some shortened extent.»
- Stefan»

21. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- Reduce project workload»
- Both tutors of the assignments should be good at the subject.»
- nothing»
- No assignment the last week before exam (v.7)»
- Please correct misprints and "copy/paste" errors to preserve a good reputation»
- The compendium should be changed...I suggest to have Chalmers-produced compendium written by the lecturer. It is very important to discuss the switched relutance machine drive (either in Drive I or II) in more details because it is a hot research issue nowdays. Finally I do suggest also to offer the course of Drive I after taking the Power Electronics Converters..This gives good chance to understand the switched reluctance and dc machine drives properly.»
- nothing»
- Less typing (copy&paste) errors and a consistent notation please!»
- maybe a slower start and some more preparations of the last two three projects»
- handouts should be corrected and more clearer»
- The workload for the labs, if the course still shall have the same credits.»
- Less work with each project. And less projects.»
- The lectures in the first week and the first Proj ass.»

22. Additional comments

- In my openion this course should not be optional. It is good intoduction for more serious academic work in the subject area»
- Interesting course»
- Instead of having every thing as simulation I do suggest to have some calculative parts.»
- course literature, the one we have is not easy to read and understand. something if there is a solution. »
