14. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- The computer labs was good to help understand the leactures. Tobias was very good to explain help out with problems.»
- Laborations and exerecises are the most useful part of the course»

- The exercises are good and Tobias was very helpful and could explain things so it was a shame that he didn"t have any lectures as well.»

- Tobias, he was a great help in the computer sessions . He really took his time to answer quenstions and was really quick to respond the grades of the hand ins. I think the computer session was nice but the classes did not always seem to be connected. »
- All the lab exercises should be kept. They were very useful and Tobias did a wonderful job of clarifying things.»
- I really liked the exercises that Tobias was responsible of, he made things clear that weren"t clear from the lectures. Maybe he could have some lectures next year? It was also very good that we got a lot of response from the computer exercises. »

15. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- Sergios lecture about elasticity was very confusing and didnot explain anything. Only 1.5 hours of wasted time. So overall i think Sergio should try to be more pedagogic, have some headlines, show when assumptions are made and why. Couse there are no good source to go to if you miss some part. »
- The slides, Most of the times I couldnt follow the lectures»
- The course was unstructured and the lecturers seemed a bit unprepared(not prepared to explain in a simple and pedagogical way). It felt like there was a language barrier sometimes.»
- Sergio"s lectures about MCA was extremely confusing and it was hard to follow what we were doing and why we were doing it and what the elasticity etc meant. He didn"t explain the terms or how we should think.»
- For the most part, the lectures were very hard to understand. There was very little explanation on the different subjects and no explanation as to why we went through it at all, especially the lecture on enzyme kinetics, what was to be achieved with that lecture? The lecture slides should be more informative and on the web page on time so they can be printed and brought to the lecture. Another thing that should be changed is that this course shouldn"t be compulsory if it is to be so badly handled.»
- Many of the subjects in this course have been explained very poorly and it feels like you have learnt more during the lab exercises. Also, it has been difficult to take notes since the lecturers have spoken rather unclear so it has been hard to hear. The lecture slides have also been very poorly explained and haven"t been very informative. In addition, the exam didn"t really reflect the whole course but only parts of it.»
- Better prepared lectures and put out the handouts before the lectures. »
- The lectures did not help a lot to understand. I would be much easier if the teachers tried to think about what they want the students to know and maybe a strategy to do so. Quite many lectures were difficult to understand because of lack of explanation about what the lecturer was doing or some background.»
- I think Tobias Österlund should have some lectures because he was really good at explaining at the exercises. »
- The lecturers should speak slower and clearer, they are really hard to follow, most of the time because of their accent and speed (and grammar sometimes).»
- The course needs to change a lot. the lectuers are not good and they are to many and not clear. The lectures do not represent what came on the exame good. They should also include "räknestugor" since most of the exam questions is calculations. I don"t think they focused on that enough on the lectures and did not give examples of questions for us to practice on nor did they do any calculations in the lectures (sergio did some but they where really hard to follow). »
- The lectures were boring and absolutely not clear. The teachers and slides are confusing sometimes. »
- I think all of the classes should have handouts. Quite often it was hard to follow when you were writing on the board. Lack of strategic writing and talking towards the board was some of the reasons. »
- It would help if Sergio"s lectures were a little more organised. At least in one of the lectures the direction and details of the exercise were confusing.»
- The lectures did not help much at all in the learning process, they were confusing and hard to understand. I found it very negative that there were no problem solving/calculating exercises since this was the kind of questions that were present in the exam.»

- It would be better if the lecture slides was put on homepage before the lecture starts!»
- Before the exam, thered should be more exercises.»
- Systems biology is a confusing course. Not because the content is difficult (the opposite, it is mostly repetition) but because of the setup/structure of the course. It is difficult to understand what the essence of the course is and to see a "red thread" through out the course. It is not until you start looking at old exams that you start to get a picture of what the course really was about. »
- The exam was unlike previous years and one question (question 2) made up 30% of the exam and it was poorly formulated and it was very unclear what you were supposed to do so you basically missed out on third of the points because you didn"t understand the question.»
- It was the worst course I have had here in chalmers and I don"t understand why it is compulsory since I don"t feel I learned anything of value. It feels like a waste of 7.5 hp that I could have used to take a course I actually want to take. It was very unstructured and the lectures didn"t make sense. Next time, please try to explain new concepts and not just throw them at us, such as with the metabolic control analysis. The exam was very bad this year as well. It was to much to do with the time we had to do it. Questions 1 and 3 were ok, but question 3 took a VERY long time to finish, question 2 was hardly understandable and it is really bad to have a question which is worth 30 points without even having sub-questions.»
- The lectures were often poorly prepared and it was hard to understand what to learn from each lecture. »
- Maybe some more exercises on each topic could be given besides the ne of the lab session, thus the student can work on exercise by its own»
- I was really disappointed of the exam especially the question of 30 points that where harder than older exams and I also think it is unfair to have 30% of the exam on a subject that we didn"t spend that much time on. Since the only questions we could practice on where old exams it is quite hard for us when having 30 point on a subject that where not part in many of the old exams. overall the course was a great disappointment for me. I had expected much more of such an interesting and promising field. I suggest some great changes for the next year, I think it would be better with fewer teachers and more exercises. »
- Nobody knows what we were supposed to know and what was just explain "for fun". »
- It´,s a really interesting field of science but it´,s a pity the class didn"t really deliver. It is hard to understand what the class is all about before looking at old exams. Some concrete exercises during the course perhaps would clear some question marks. I think it was very hard to understand the purpose of the derivations, of michaelis menten etc, during Sergios class. Intawat had overall structured powerpoints that was wasy to follow. Just think about the color of the pen when writing on the board and try to write claerly, even if you think it"s just a notice. If it"s hard to see what it says, it"s hard to understand if it is important or not. »
- Some of the lecturers were difficult to understand because of their accents. It was generally a very small problem but in some cases, key terms couldn"t be understood.»
