- The nonlinear part of the Glad and Ljung book is actually good. The complement about adaptive control was sometimes hard to understand.» (Large extent)

- Only criticsm is that the lecture seems to cover a lot of unrelated topics. It was a little bit from everything, but nothing really in detail.» (Good)
- By taking this course a lot of things from other control courses becomes clear.» (Excellent)

- open teaching atmosphere where good interaction between students and the teacher is found.»
- The hand in and the lab, but pleas make an update to the lab files. Uses some old matlab version.»

16. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- maybe an compulsory assignment on optimal control.»
- The adaptive part of the course is better suited for a hand in or simulation lab.»
- More assignments would be nice to give more practise.»
- In the laboratory, the used model was quite confusing and unstructured. »
- Exercises on class were not adequate and usually not very clear»

- [****]The computer lab is very good learning experience. But I feel that the students weren"t very well prepared for it. I (and many with me) got the impression that it wasn"t much to prepare. It was. The biggest problem is that the lab-pm needs to be updated to fit the course. For instance, it"s not stated that the Simulink model is given. And it is only mentioned in a small footnote that, and which problems which need to be prepared in advance. The two hours computer lab would need 4 hours.»

- The best courses in control I have taken at Chalmers.»
- The idea behind Optimal Control should be explained to a further extent, especially the idea behind the Hamilton function. Many students were quite confused, because it was not clear why the Hamilton function leads to an optimal solution.»
- Many thanks to Torseten Wik for great lectures.»
- maybe a stronger theoretical basis would help to understand some topics. A general methodology was missing along the course and each example was presented as a special case which sometimes is quite confusing.»
- Have you considered having two separate courses, one in general non-linear methods and one in adaptive control? As it is now the adaptive part is kind of small and it would have been nice to learn more of it»
