Your own effort

1. How many hours per week did you spend on this course?

We mean total time, that is, it comprises the time you spent in class and the time you spent on your own work. Try to estimate the average time over the entire study period.

- The lectures weren"t good..» (25%)
- I don"t learn by listening in this kind of subject. More training with computers is better!» (25%)
- Doing demo of software in a traditional lecture setting is a terrible way of teaching in my opinion making a lot of the lecures rather uninteresting to attend. The rest of the material seemed to be "read-pdf-outloud"-style of teaching which can just aswell be done individually at home. More computer excercises would have been a better way to go.» (25%)
- inte många föreläsningar men alla datorövningar» (50%)
- Attended most of the computer times but not many of the lectures.» (50%)
- I did not attend that much at the lectures. I read the slides from home. I did attend to maybe 1/2 of the practical lectures since I could work alot from home.» (50%)
- I took another course with the same schedule.» (75%)
- The PLM lectures were slightly dull.» (75%)
- The teacher did not have any teaching technique. Apparently he had ideas in his head but could not express them in class. In a graduate program requires didactic professors, able to express their ideas. I strongly recommend restructure this course. » (100%)

Goals and goal fulfilment

4. Are the goals reasonable considering your background and the number of credits?

Answer this this question and the succeeding one, only if you do know the course goals.

27 svarande

No, the goals are set too low»0 0%
Yes, the goals seem reasonable»25 92%
No, the goals are set too high»2 7%

Genomsnitt: 2.07

- Have no answer to that» (?)
- Seeing how I find the course goals difficult to understand the answer to this question is however void...» (Yes, the goals seem reasonable)
- The course is not set adequately it should be during a semester not half of it, the people in the Product Development master did have different backgrounds, and if you are going to ask so difficult task you need to give more time and more practice before the assignment is given. For some people it was easy, but they did have experience in Catia.» (No, the goals are set too high)

5. Did the examination assess whether you have reached the goals?

31 svarande

No, not at all»4 12%
To some extent»12 38%
Yes, definitely»7 22%
I don"t know/have not been examined yet»8 25%

Genomsnitt: 2.61

- It is unforgivable that in a post graduate course you have to memorize text from the slides of the presentation in the classes to be able to answer the question in the exam. » (No, not at all)
- The outcome of the exam doesn"t say anything about how good you are at cad » (No, not at all)
- Good complement to what was learned during the project» (Yes, definitely)
- I thought many irrelevant questions showed up at the exam, things that maybe shouldn"t be in a CAD-course.» (I don"t know/have not been examined yet)

Too low»0 0%
Low»0 0%
Adequate»22 62%
High»12 34%

- But then again I have quite a lot of previous experience with CAD. For those that did not the workload appear to have been rather insane. » (Adequate)
- CAD-delen var ganska lätt men sedan skulle man sätta sig in i och använda ytterligare två program. Dessa program var ganska knöliga att använda och det verkade inte vara någon som egentligen kunde Smartteam.» (High)
- High, but as it is a "learning by doing" course, it is ok.» (High)

- The project is excellent! The lectures and exam on the other hand are terrible in my opinion.» (Adequate)
- The CAD part was really good. The RDnT was ok. The PLM felt very out of place in this course.» (Good)
- I learned a lot of CAD, especially surface design which I hadn"t done before.» (Good)
- The exercise lecturer Samuel was very good in guiding us!» (Good)

14. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- The project is great, I did not no much about CATIA before the course but i have learn A LOT!»
- Nothing.»
- The structure of the CAD part.»
- Topic Reports and Lean Development game.»
- The bonus tasks were really good to get to see CAD-tools you hadn"t seen before.»
- EXTRA TASKS SHOULD BE PRESERVED»
- RD&T även om det var ett knöligt program att använda är det jäkligt bra när man väl kan det.»
- The CADwork»
- The assignment.»
- Ā project with all its components»
- Excavator design in CAD, is very helpful for students to gain some confidence of using Catia V5.PDM and PLM theory is well defined and self explanatory.RDnT developed at Chalmers is very powerful tool.Should be continued.»
- The excavator project :)»
- The CATIA project was definitely the highlight of the course.»
- The project!»

15. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- The exam feels irrelevant. Just learning stuff you will forget the next day anyway, it doesnt fit into the course at all. Spend the exam points on even more CATIA hand ins and this course would have been one of the best.»
- I do not see the point with the exam...»
- The course should be done in the second half of the semester, and have as an elective the first half a course of Catia.»
- Remove the PLM part, and organise more tutors for the computer sessions.»
- Dont"t change but replace the Applied Materials case by a new one.»
- A more efficient way of presenting the work. The PLM part was a bit confusing.»
- The exam. I don"t think it"s a proper examination of this course. I would have rather preferred to right an essay about the work i"ve done and what i"ve learned. I was just memorizing things for the exam that i never will remember again. »
- I think more material from the project could be in the exam.»
- Better exercises for RD&T. Some of them are wrong, and not up to date for the newest version.»
- SMARTEAM EXCERCISE CAN BE OMMITTED.»
- A few hours of studies for the exam equals highest grade. 20 hours of work a week equals highest grade on the project. For the final grade exam and project were weighted equally. This is not reasonable.»
- En något mindre tidskrävande CAD-uppgift så man har tid att förstå RD&T och Smartteam, nu hastar man bara igenom dem så man får det gjort. »
- The exam. First of all I feel that i haven"t learned much at all when it comes to CAD theory. And then i really studied for the exam and probably passed it without any problems. »
- The look of the exam»
- CAD theory should be kept to minimal. The theory in the CAD is good but it is not supported by practical working.I feel the theory of CAD should be converted to discrete exercises on computers. That will help students in the long run and not just for exams, because we understand better if we do it practically. »
- nothing there is to specify »
- More booked times/rooms for excavator. (Is it possible to have more exercises, some guided, some not)»
- The PLM lectures and also some parts in the modelling part with all the equations and expressions can be cut down. Atleast in the lectures.»
- More computer excercises, less lectures and perhaps skipping the exam or at least look it over...»

16. Additional comments

- Really good course, but the exam is just strange and does not fit in.»
- The teaching in a master program should be more about the professional experience of people in the field. I felt this course was bad structured luck a real grasp of what a product development using cad tools.»
- Feels like the course is composed of two courses. The integration between the project and the exam material can be better. »
- An overview on Ping Pong on whcih tasks/extra-tasks have been approved would be nice. In general more feedback on Ping pong would be great.»
- Good course, I learned a lot, but the lectures were boring. The teachers were good, but I think it is very difficult to learn CAD via a powerpoint presentation. »
- New softwares like RD&T and Smarteam should be taught rather than just giving exercises. More classes should be dedicated to these.»
- Having an exam in a CAD course seem rather odd. The material for it seemed to be pretty much forced in there just for the sake of having a written exam. Skipping the exam or simply having a shorter while focusing more on the project would be a much better way to go, in my opinion.»
