- Not the worst but probably the second worst during my four years at chalmers.» (Fair)
- Some parts were good, some less good. In this course it feels like you put a lot of work in and do not get out that much from it in general I am sorry to say.» (Fair)
- The different parts where quite uncorrelated The home exam was quite different from what we talked about during the lectures but mainly very hard to understand the questions!!! The lectures where good» (Fair)
- My answer would have been "excellent" if I had been presented clearer motivation of what was the learning purpose for all the different examination steps. What were the specific goal for each project for example.» (Good)
- I found that the lecturers are really interesting as for the course contents bas the way they manage them. Moreover, the projects (even if they are technically complex) were also of interest.» (Excellent)
- Many different topics of interest were taught. It is a very complete course. The coordination of different lectures and professors was excellent. » (Excellent)
- In my opinion the PM part should not have so much part in the grading for the students. Its good to have feedback and the lectures from Mastering Project Management, but shouldn"t play so big roll in the grading. The lectures were really interesting for me,well structured and open new perspectives to me(open my mind a little bit more) » (Excellent)

- Too much repetition of the basics of patent applications. There was allot of good information, but I also had too ask some questions so it could be even better. It turned out in the comments that the idea of "writing a claim 1" that we though was correct was not the line the grader took.»

4. SCOUT AND IDENTIFY: Which components could have been stressed more?

- The idea of the business part could have been presented more before we began writing it.»
- The most difficult thing was about the understanding of the technology presented in the scientific article, which was really important. Indeed, it represented the basis of the project and turned out to be inevitable for the rest of it.»
- It was totally ok!»
- It wasn"t always so clear what was expected from you in this case. It was hard to know which aspect to focus on.»
- Maybe work on business case before the hand-in of the report could be useful.»
- Perhaps the supervisors coudl have made some patent searches on their own to get a grip of the situation»
- I would prefer clearer information about who"s responsible for what, among the teachers. Clearer simplified information through one channel, might have been the many components of the course which made stuff a bit fuzzy.»
- For Scout and Identify, I believe that if articles selected were specifically related to the field of the individual then the things would have been easier. But considering the challenge associated with current style, overcomes the issue. »
- more content can be included in lecture»
- This project felt very superficial»
- There should be more clear what should we do with the claims that we have to right. »
- Bussiness plan commercial side and applications of the innovation»
- More exposure on the planning»
- Home Exame»

5. EVALUATE AND PRESENT: rate the following aspects

Matrisfråga

- Much less clear what the content and goal of this project was. When it comes to the lectures I though they where good, the only problem was that they only gave one view of how to do the project (due to time limit I guess), but I don"t think that"s something to change, it"s just a comment on how they work with the projects.»
- In this project, may be the dividing up into group wasn"t really clear, it means there were groups of 9 and in the other side groups of 6. Moreover, it was difficult to join technologes together to find an innovation which used most part of the two or three artciles"s themes. It could be easier to define nearer subject or to provide more freedom to the group for the innovation research.»

6. EVALUATE AND PRESENT: Was it good to merge several small groups into one large group?

- No, it is interesting and comes with some learning, but this does not outweigh the extra work this takes. Taking into account that this is a course and our time goes to learning not to producing a real product I think you would learn more in the same time with a smaller group. Having group meetings and getting everyone on board gives insight into how hard work projects are, but at the same time they take so much time without insight, since no one is appointed PM and can end discussions when they"ve been going on too long.»
- This working way was really interesting and I think it provided a new dynamism to find an innovation. Indeed, the brainstorming and the different discussions with new people (about the technologies presented in each of articles) turned out to be really effective. The only difficulty may be, as I said in the previous box, was the dividing up, especially for the presentation. Indeed, it turns out to be difficult to impose the same time for every group whereas the number of students is different (especially if everybody has to talk during the presentation and also for the work uphill the presentation).»
- Yes. This was definitely the most interesting part of the course. »
- I liked the idea. It was good practice for future work to try and organize such a large group of people from different areas.»
- It"s good for our better understanding how work in groups should be performed. It helps to improve communication skills etc. That"s good!»
- That was not a problem I think. There could have been more guidelines of how the work was supposed to be done, but otherwise I find this task to be quite nice.»
- Yes, by merging several groups the brainstorming is much more profitable for coming up with a final innovation»
- Yes, because even if articles didn"t have the same topic, it was good to see that we were not supposed to use all of them if the topic were to different»
- Perhaps more thought should have been put into the combinations.. some were not combinable in a good way..»
- everybody came from different background and it"s very interesting to work with this. »
- Yes it worked fine once time for meeting was scheduled, this was needed since there was a lack of leadership in the supergroup when we just had meet.»
- Yes it was. It gave a better understanding of team work as in real environments teams from different departments come together for product development in a similar fashion»
- some small groups" topic are not related»
- Yes, it was good because we had to figure out efficient ways to work with so many people»
- Not at all! What is the point of it, since we do not get any grade and lose time for other things such as the take home exam!»
- Yes it was a good experience to have a small project like this and have to cooperate. Also it was interesting because we had to apply every aspect of the course that we"ve been learned a few weeks before »
- Yes but somehow it should be graded.»
- I think it was a wonderful idea and gave me a chance to brain storm and find a solution that is acceptable and feasible»
- Its good»

7. Going for a five: Is it good with several choices, or should we focus on one, e.g. popular science, business model, and increase the number of lectures on this particulat topic?

- Definitely good to have the choices, gives you the opportunity to show what your good at in a field you think you like. Going for a five should require that you put some extra work compared to just having more lecture. However, I think going for a five should be included in the other projects and I don"t like that you can"t reach top grade on your other achievements, that gives less incentive to do them as well as you can, as opposed to just doing them well enough... The information on this part was also lacking. For example deadline.»
- It seems a good thing to provide several choices because it gives different subjects for students and enable them to choose. Nevertheless, it could be interesting to increase the number of lectures on this subject to provide all the tools for this work.»
- It is good to keep it open with several choises.»
- In my opinion, students should have a chance to choose between different options. Number of lectures on this should be increased, for sure! »
- Good with several choices, I think if you write something on a subject that inspires you, you will show your true ability.»
- It is always good to have several choices. For example, before this subject, I had never done before a business case so for me it is more complicated than it is for people with a background on organizational engineering, economics or similar, as they have previously done a lot of them. »
- Focus on one I think... but I"m not doing that part so ..yeah»
- Yes, it is good. But having an extra effort may sometimes drive people not to attempt for it.»
- yes, increase the number of lectures it is bad that the deadline of home exam and "going for a five" are crashed»
- No comment»
- I think that is ok the way it is now, to have more options »
- The workload on its own is enough. There is no need for an extra report. Extra lectures may be better on one topic»
- it is good with several choices»
- I think its ok»

- I"ve bought it in Cremona. Books in Sweden are really very expensive...)» (I had a printed copy of my own)
- It was quite expensive for me to buy a book for studying it just one week. Maybe there could be lecture notes (compendium) or important topics available at cremona, based on the book» (I had a printed copy of my own)
- Even if we talked about that already, i think this book is too long, too dilute, too expensive. This course gathers quite a lot of scientists, people who like concise summaries with bullet point style The lecture slide are more or less a goo condense version of this book» (I had a printed copy of my own)
- Reading the book online with limiting and the prise was rather high for buying it for such a small part of a course. I did not find an on-line copy that could be printed.» (I read the book on-line)
- It was unnecessary long as all litterature in this area. They do like to talk a lot.. » (I read the book on-line)
- the printing, copying, highlighting function are locked for the pdf book (downloaded from chalmers), resulting in non-effective reading» (I read the book on-line)
- The book is easy accessible due to the fact that is popular. It is well structured and gave to me a good introduction to PM. » (I read the book on-line)
- In fact, it is really difficult to print a copy because of the volume of it and the restriction imposed by the library (number of sheets limited). May be it will be interesting to create a part on the Ping Pong course page with previous students of the course where they sold already used printed copy or the book at lower price.» (No answer/Other)

9. This helped me understand the Basics of Project Management

Matrisfråga

- The exam was not, in many parts, like the lectures. This takes away from the value they hold in the course. Maylor was the only was to pass the exam, but on the other hand I didn"t feel that the book alone gave me understanding on the basics in a way I think benefits my future. In this way the lectures where better.»
- I had preferred to have extra courses with Lars. Indeed, I found the lectures really interesting and a better way, a more dynamics way for learning the Basics of Project Management than reading the book. Hence, through further courses, Lars could go more in depths on Maylor"s book explanations and concepts and could add comparisons between his own experience what would be really rewarding. »
- It feels completely stupid to not let the one who gives the lecture be a part of the making of the test. The lectures was good and interesting but the test didn"t reflect that at all.»
- The lecturer"s style wasn"t really adapted for academics it felt like and he was a tad bit slow in adapting.»
- What were the "Cliff notes" and lecture hand outs? I think this part really sucked. If you are going to do it in 2 weeks you should focus on some parts, not the whole book. Right now it"s more of a glossary test. This part really made me not wanting to go into project management. »
- I missed most of these lectures so i can"t really say (14.5 at the exam, mainly by reading the book in one week, so it"s still possible even if pbly harder)»
- About the PM Basics having two 4-hour lectures didn"t help at all for us to "digest: some things. It would have been better, if you can split them, like 4 2-hour lectures.»
- Lars presentation were ok. But the time span that we were given was to short too grasp all the information. Also there were subjects that we had to know for the basic exams that we never had time even see inside the lectures. At least 4 lecture hours should be added to the scheduled in the future for this part. »

14. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- The first project and the literature seminar»

- Lecturer for PM basics and PRESENT and EVALUATE»

15. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- The size of the reading work for the PM basics test, and preferably the maylor book if it is possible. Maybe also the large groups. I think two exams in the PM is too much»
- I think the organization of Maylor"s Book, it will be better to use more Lars courses than the book or may be, shared the chapters among the weeks (according to courses" subjects of these weeks). Indeed, it will be probably more efficient for learning basics and would be a way for preparing courses. Furthermore, it would be good to put back the first examination about the book because it is probably a little bit too close to the course beginning. Finally, the results should be given before otherwise there is a too long time between the examination and the results (especially for the possible preparation to the re-test). Excepted the book, I think the course was good organized.»
- The PM basic test. Since everything important in the Maylor book could have been written in maybe 10 pages it would have been nice to find a summary of the book instead. The whole course feels like it"s trying to feed you with the same vomit over and over again. Maylor is saying the same obvious things for 400 pages and then we are going to read articles that are saying the same things once again. The same thing for the guest lecturers who all talked about the different dates when applying for a patent. It feels like Jan things that quantity and quality is the same thing.»
- You need to lower the work load. We do take other ourses as well. I.e. the home exam can be skipped as you already had one exam on the book and an exam on the articles. In addition to this there is one presentation and two hand ins..»
- PM basics... Too much information keeped in just several lectures. Although it is important part of this course, the test after was so difficult (one book in one week - too high speed...), so many of us didn"t manage with that. Maybe it"s better to increase the number of PM basics lectures, or give more time to prepare for PM test. But, again, student syndrome could work here... »
- I think you need to decrease the amount of examinations, if you want to have a both a PM test, a home exam, project reports, project presentations and a litterature seminar you really need to deliver higher quilaty of the course than you did this time. Otherwise I really think that many students will by annoyed and less inspired by the course.»
- I am not able to discard anything, I really enjoyed this course.»
- Maybe go deeper in the project management basics and spend more time on it»
- Project management part»
- more time to learn the Maylor PM basic »
- Pingpong, make a checklist of what to hand in and when (a short one...) or put handins on the google calender. »
- Everything.»
- lectures of pm basic Mastering Project Management»
- I cannot think something other than better organization of the material in ping pong »
- Pm basics test , less topics more time»
- Literature seminar»
- HOME EXAME»

- Even if the book workload is not balanced what could be a little bit problematical.» (Adequate)
- The main problem was probably not that there was a high workload, just that the Workload/(my interest of the subject) ratio was very high. » (Adequate)
- Not too much to do except this home exam that felt really painful» (Adequate)
- At some parts of the course» (High)
- We should have more time for N5 hand in, it was inside the exams period and with odd deadline time (12.00). It should be at least until 17.00. » (High)
- Most of it was good, it was spread out so it was easier to handle. But there where unreasonably many parts, especially having two exams on PM and a seminar. The first exam and the seminar would be enough. Also, with this many parts going for a five should easily fit in the ordinary work.» (Too high)
- Too high especially when you have to submit an extra report to get a five, like it is not enough to give one examination, two projects, a literature seminar and a take-home exam!» (Too high)

- I am not taking my masters program yet as I am an undergraduate student but it will sure be useful for my final project and for a subject called "projects" that I will have next semester at my home university.» (3)
- To everybody who expects to work!» (5)
- This stuff is relevant for everyone. People need to broaden their perspectives» (5)
- It was more than I was anticipating, in a good way. I am in Computer Science department (with many courses that shouldn"t be considered as master level). So it is good to have such good level course at last » (5)

22. Were any of the lectures not of relevance for the course?

- I though it would have been enough with the patent attourney plus one other angle, like academical. Not three. otherwise I liked all the lectures allot.»
- I don"t think because the purposes of every courses were clear and relevant for the course.»
- Some of the patent lectures »
- None. »
- I think that the lectures from the PM part was not so good since you still had to read almost every page in Maylor carefully to fully do the test.»
- The lecture of how to write pop science articles »
- Not really»

23. Should certain lectures/moments be presented earlier/later, or be moved to other courses?

- Not really, may be the guest lecture on the patent could be presented earlier for the first project.»
- Yes, maybe it is better to have all lectures as blocks. I mean let"s say first everything about patents, after PM etc. Because in this course lectures about PM was followed by patent lectures, and vice versa. It"s better not to alternate them. »
- I think you should rearrange a lot of things in the PM part. It would be better to focus on fewer things in PM and learn these ones really well. This time it felt like you learned a lot of glossarys that you didn"t really know what they were good for.»
- I think the order of lectures was the adequate one.»
- the business case course should be presented earlier.»
- business case should be present earlier »
- no»
- Basics... Should increase the lectures...»
- no»
- The one about the business model, and maybe included in the scout and identify if possible, to make it more consistent?»
- If there is about to be an examination in Project management, it is useful to start the lectures earlier and not have only one week to prepare ourselves for the examination, which was by the way during the period of dealing with the SCOUT & IDENTIFY project!»
- The introduction of the PM should be longer in time. Also it should be done before the introductory courses for patents. »
- Yes »
- late»

24. Was the scope of the course suitable (to wide or narrow)?

- Good for the amount of time it should take. »
- About the scope of the course, it seems suitable and don"t be widen or narrowed, it deals with the subject in a good way.»
- It"s suitable. »
- Maybe a little bit to wide I think.»
- I think that the scope of the course is quite wide but it is perfect the way it is»
- PM part to wide!»
- the scope was very suitable»
- quite wide, but it worked out fine»
- Quite appropriate»
- can be wider»
- It felt very theoretical...»
- It was what I was expecting from a master program. Broad enough to be applied in many aspects of my life. Also the details that were enough to understand and work with the course aspects. »
- Too wide»
- Wide»

25. Additional comments

- I would like to tell you that the lectures and the lecturers were really interesting especially in the way they presented the lectures and the subjects in a dynamic and attractive way.»
- Thank you Sacha, Fredrik and Jan for the very interesting course!»
- I only want to thank you for the distribution of the lectures and the way they were taught. I mean , I wanted to go to the lectures and that doesn´,t happen to me quite often. I enjoyed the course in a way I didn´,t think it was possible»
- None»
-
- What about having some theatre in this course? Each group picks a theme: political behaviour or else, has to set up a small play, and other people react on that This would feel maybe more practical I had a course like that back home, it feel weird at the beginning, but you remember and learn a lot more when it come to human behaviours»
