13. Comments about teaching and course administration

- In addition, the scientific paper including the presentation was a very good opportunity to take a deeper look into a specific topic. I found this very interesting and it would have been nice to have access to the reports of the other students.»
- The lectures about solar, hydropower and wavepower are too poor of content, I expected more details about the technologies»
- the assignment 6 was very very diffivult and very big it took same time for all other 5 assignments plz reduce the assignment 6 next year...»
- Wind Turbine and Windlab, Sunlab and HEV Assignment were best parts of the lecture. The overview on other renewables energy sources and technologies was too superficial to make any gain out it. Maybe it would be better to focus on the strengths of this course (as mentioned above) to get more detailed information on these topics. Particular the HEV Topic is really interesting, but the information given in the lecture was too less. »

- More literature for develop the assugments would be highly appreciated next time. There is ni compendium for solar for example while there are two for wind power. »
- The level of the education in this course is not befitting a Masters course! Most of the content taught during the lectures was covered in my previous education, in some cases, as early as in secondary school.»
- It should be more clear what is included in the exam. Some equations from the simulation tasks were surprising to find in the exam.»

- The vehicle labs, although the labs have to be reworked extensively. I did not feel that there was any clear connection between the different parts. A suggestion could be to let the students construct a simpler model, which is then altered as the exercises progress. This would allow the students to know exactly how the model works.»

20. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- Some lectures, such as hydro power lecture, could go deeper and be more technical. For most people in the course, it was repetition.»
- There should be more occasions for the assignment work. On some days, it was not possible to talk to the supervisors more than one time.»
- The slides could me more detailed in order to help the student clarifying the important concepts The hybrid assignment was too long and complicated, especially because just before the exam»
- according to me, as non-electrical engineer, there were too pour details about primary energy conversion. More technical calculation about turbine design etc would have been interesting to me. »

- the assignment about hybrid vehicles which was quite extensive and not really that relevant for the examination. it could be shortened»
- What is expected from the scientific report should be clearer/clear. From teh oral presentation most of the students had understood the task equivalently but not all, this could have been avoided.»
- Complicated theoretical concepts need more time to be explained.»
- The last assignment needs a large overhaul since the current concept is not working at all. It"s too large for the time we are given and the number of teachers available. The number of tasks is rather large and the last one is very confusing since we only calculate lots and lots of numbers. There"s no good way to compare them all. Also the last task is badly designed since the hybrid car is only running on battery in the city cycle, thus making it a heavy electric vehicle. »

- The enphasis given to some topics which is not in equal way to others as well interested such as solar. The hybrid assufment too time cobsuming and hugh level.»
- Some things were unclear in the last assignment, even when we asked for help the answer was "I"m not really sure" at some questions.»
- In my view the course should not try to cover the entire field of energy conversion. Instead it should be limited to a smaller field, say, wind, solar, wave. And not, wind,solar,wave,hydro,nuclear fission, nuclear fusion a.s.o. On top of this you choose to incorporate how the transport sector should change. Thus my message is to concentrate on what your faculty is good at and leave the other topics to other courses!»
- The last assignment(hybrid) was too large and the possibility to get help from the assistants was rather poor. Moreover, feedback for the scienctific paper should be given before the exam so that the student know how many bonus points did he get.»
- HEV assignment, it was too complete for too short time»
- Put the hybrid tasks first in order, to give time to solve them. They are more difficult than the other tasks because Simulink is used.A short introduction to simulink could be useful.»

- Nice course. Rather broad and not very deep, but still manages to give a good idea on many topics.»
- Teachers made good performances, each had great knowledge in his/her field, very interesting. And the teachers during assignments made every effort to help us (even if we were too many students). I have enjoyed this class.»

- The last assignment took much more time/week than the previous ones - I would have prefered that the work load would have bene more equal over the study period. If not considering the last assignment I found the work load to be low.»

- Further I would like to add that it would probably be beneficial for your course to collaborate with other courses/faculties to see what not to teach. In MPSES we have already covered most of the topics you taught and in more depth.»
