- Questions about the written goals are pretty pointless. No one really looks at them. The reason is that it"s almost impossible to write down meaningful goals for learning in this way. These questions should be removed from all the evaluation forms. It"s better to ask concrete things about the course instead.» (?)

- It"s good that slides were uploaded on the homepage in case one miss a lecture.» (Some extent)
- I give this credit for the labs, since i did not attend the lectures. » (Large extent)
- Excellent with handouts! I think Erland should not push "this is difficult" and also expect a lot of feedback from a group of students who all dislike being wrong.» (Great extent)
- The lectures have been great! They increasingly provided an understanding about the new techniques needed to pass the assignments and be able to solve the exercises.» (Great extent)

- However, it was rather heavy to first have a ~2h lecture followed by ~2h exercises, the brain was in overdrive every Wednesday. Would be nice if that could be spread out a bit better.» (Adequate)

- I love problemsolving, and I felt that this course gave me a good foundation to tackle complex problems I never thought I could solve.» (Excellent)

16. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- Make the assignments available earlier. »
- maybe some language details in class. such as one guy that was corrected for saying "x over y" for x/y. X over y is in fact the correct way of saying it, and Erland had it confused with binomial coefficients (that is "x select y"). also N! is n factorial, not N faculty. faculty is something else entirely . there were also some ambiguities in the assignments. such things is not very important, but is a little distracting and can easily be fixed. »
- I felt that despite all the talk about it. The exam was a little bit fuzzy on witch steps (of describing algorithms) should be done on some questions.»
- Well I thin kthat it should be 1 person in each group like I did the assignments because I feel that I learned alot more that way but I guess that it is too expensive»
- Exam questions need to be a little more distinct. No Handwawing! - you should know that :p»
- There should be booked hours for laborations so you can have acces to someone to share ideas and to talk about difrent ways of looking att the problems.»
- I hope that we could get a collection of exercise problems to practice more.(it is ok not handed in)»
- Perhaps not put an ~2h exercise right after ~2h lecture, at least not in the afternoon. »
- The lab assignment was released to late compared to there deadline. I think that it should be clearer when the second deadline for lab submissions are.»
- Change the grading system for the labs. When you get accept on the labs you should pass, like in all other courses. Upload lab PMs and lecture slides earlier so that it"s possible to begin in time. There should be assigned time for the labs, since they are mandatory.»
- I think it would be better if the exercise was on Thursday or Friday, to let the content from the lectures sink in a little.»
- Things that could be improved: * The part about log/uniform cost criteria. The lecture and slides were confusing. There were no material about this in the text book. But the topic in it self is not so hard, it should be possible to do it in a better way. * Some formulations in the assignments was a bit unclear. E.g. 3.2. * It was difficult to know in how much detail you had to present you assignment solution. Maybe an "example assignment solution", with the expected level of detail, available on the homepage, could be a good help? »

- When having a small number of questions with a lot of points on the exam it is a huge drawback if you can not completely solve the first problem part.»
- Seems like the spring and autumn course have quite different contents and focus on different things. Shouldn"t they be more similar since they have the same course code etc? »
