Summarizing questions

13. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- The syllabus is good.»
- Laborations»
- tutorial and lab works are good»
- The labs and problem solving tutorials. It is also good to have the lectures given on blackboards :)»
- the handouts»
- The content of the coarse should be preserved, but I did not like the book by MBB, it was too abstract with all those formulas. Some chapters were rather good, but overall I thought the litterature could be much better...»
- The structure with the nine parts of the course»

14. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- I would like to see more practicals (labs).»
- course timetable and procedure if it makes sence!»
- none»
- Some materials are overlapped in Mikael"s and Rodney"s classes. Sometimes, different information is given for a same topic, for example, useful range for WLF and Arrhenius equations are not the same.»
- Please try not to put lectures untill 4 days before the examinations start !»
- Change the litterature- the book by MBB was too abstract. Also the binder could be made clearer by dividing the different areas covered with more distinct headlines and sub-headlines. Also, the posted calculations on the webpage were too vague... they need better explanations!»
- Maybe decrease the amount of information in the course somewhat»

15. Level of information presented in lectures was... (put an X)

Agree»13 86%
Hesitant»1 6%
Disagree»1 6%

17. Do you think the course should cover more or fewer topics?

15 svarande

More topics»2 13%
Fewer topics»10 66%
No change»3 20%

Genomsnitt: 2.06

- Maybe a little fewer topics could be covered, with a little more detail and practice.» (Fewer topics)
- More, I would say if there were anything left!!» (Fewer topics)
- I felt that it was more important for lecturers to teach and provide students with as much as material that they can, rather than finding out how much the stuff is comprehencible for students ? what percent of students get the points ?» (Fewer topics)
- But maybe less topics on composites. It is good for those not taking the course Composite and Nanocomposite Materials though.» (No change)

18. Tutorial problems helped to better understand computational aspects

15 svarande

Agree»10 66%
Hesitant»4 26%
Disagree»1 6%

Genomsnitt: 1.4

- even one of the tutorial problems, or a similar one didn"t come in the exam !» (Hesitant)

Agree»5 35%
Hesitant»7 50%
Disagree»2 14%

Genomsnitt: 1.78

- I didn"t like the way it was presented, too much appeal put on presentation of the company. A little too invasive. » (Hesitant)
- Who?» (Hesitant)
- For me, being acquainted with nothing from polymers led to just listening ro some irrelevant, boring conferance. It could be thrown at the end of lectures...» (Disagree)

Hesitant»5 33%
Disagree»1 6%

Genomsnitt: 1.46

- It could be more organised. » (Hesitant)
- The handout about "Rheological Behavior of Polymer Melts" was excellent. It provides a great simplified description of Rheology and Viscosity concepts. It made things easy and understandable to learn.» (Hesitant)
- The binder could be clearer. The text in the binder is messy...lack of headlines and division of contents into different subchapters» (Hesitant)
- It helped the scattered information look messier.» (Disagree)

24. On the whole you would

15 svarande

Recommend the course»12 80%
Hesitant»1 6%
Not recommend the course»2 13%

Genomsnitt: 1.33

- It could be set elective not compulsory.» (Not recommend the course)
- The course should be more practical, I didn’,t have background about polymers and approximately all parts was new for me, in my opinion we must face to polymer materials more practical unfortunately we skip when we reach the practical parts such as fracture ,yielding(not much),different types and applications of rubbers, composites ,generally polymers applications, but we consist many times on understanding some theoryes .I think the questions of the book are very practical and we should consist more time to consult and think about them (e.gto understand creep and relaxation in practice ).I know becuase of my metal and ceramics background this course havent worked for me I think for next year this willbe a good idea to seprate PHD polymer students with advanced engeeniring material students.» (Not recommend the course)

25. Additional comments

- themodynamics should be added as supplement material»
- I think the lecturers shouldn"t expect the students to obtain this "in-depth knowledge of polymers" within 7 weeks. Don"t you think that sometimes a superficial understanding is in priority than an in-depth knowledge?»
