- The paper concerning Markov Chain are well written and very useful to understand the topic»
- pratical with perl»
- more excursuses of calculation of HMM more perl help for people not so good at programing all ppt on the homepage before lecture prel excersises on homepage at last 2 days before excersise »
- more organized lectures by lectureres »
- sequence alignment, perl, phylogenetics, markov models»
- Graham! We could ask him lots of stupid questions about basic things about programming we didn"t understand, and he never lost his temper and always tried to help us. »

15. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- Probably the available materials corcerning the part of DNA sequenceing, metagenomics etc... giving some references in order to understand better some concepts and how some techniques works. And more exercises about Markov Chain Model should be done in class.»
- exam too close after the last lecture. Have more exercies on Hidden Markov chain. Matbe more references to the litterature»
- more excursuses on HMM part »
- next generation data sequencing and applications: it should be more teaching not just presentation»
- It felt like Marina"s parts were a little bit too ... mathematical somehow. I found it vey hard to follow all the derivations and the theory about HMMs since it was quite a long time since I took any math courses and couldn"t really follow all the notations.»

- i think this cource is to hard for people from biotechnology that have little experience in programming and math »
- Erik questions in exam was not fair ,it was 3 lectures but the questions were from first lecture only !!! besides the focuse of the questions were onlyon 454 sequencing ! especially the last question was not reasonable at all »
- This isn"t really a problem with the course, but more a problem about programming at the Biotechnology programme (the bachelor) in general. This course is considered as one of the track courses for the Biotechn. masterprogramme so I suppose that students who take this course should be able to have the basic programming skills to do the exercises in Perl we had. But I really don"t have the basic skills I probably needed for this course. I found the computer exercises very hard, not only because of the Perl and the bioinformatics parts, but more because I really don"t understand programming in general. I know that this is a topic that gets discussed very year, but the Matlab education biotechn. students have the first year at Chalmers really isn"t adequate enough. I don"t think that I really understand what programming is and how I"m supposed to think when I"m programming, and that"s a huge obstacle.»
