- The web page could have been used a lot more to give information. The project manager meetings were rather meaningless. The web page could have used instaid to give the information and the questions could just as well have been sent by email since no answers were given in the meetings anyway.» (Very badly)

- Web page and hand outs were ok. Course administration was awful. » (Rather well)

- Because there were no guidelines to what we were to achieve my group ended up doing nothing. The course administration"s only response to this was that it was normal not to accomplish anything. There should have been more follow-up on the progressions of the projects. » (Too low)
- The project could be done in a week if u want to finish it fast, and this is not good and does not picture a real world situation. With help of osCommerce the project part was too easy!» (Low)

- Easily made top three worst courses. I wasted five of my CSN weeks learning nothing.» (Poor)
- I really like Per Zaring, he"s a nice guy and i have the impression that he"s good at what he teaches, but i still feel i have to say that I didn"t learn much from this course. See the comments below for details.» (Poor)
- Didnt feel that i learned anything particular.» (Poor)
- Nice to have Stallman here even he seem to be a bit weird. The local open source lectures was too basic - not interesting.» (Poor)
- In general, I did get "NOTHING" from the course to be honest, although we had to talk for 5 minutes about lessons we have learned.!!! » (Poor)
- - Releasing the guidelines of the demo exercise a couple of days before the demo. - Hard to get answers, vague answers to almost every question asked.» (Fair)
- the course has more or less been made up as it went along. Information has been unclear all throughout the course. I got the impression that the teachers knew less than the students about what was to come sometimes.» (Fair)
- The course need better structure, and most important it has to be set from the beginning.» (Fair)
- I think we have learnt our lesson» (Adequate)
- We should get points on project works than all points on exam» (Good)

14. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- the way we did the project and documents»
- organize the cource more better»
- Nothing.»
- * A project.»
- The idea to complete a project during the course is good, but, in my oppinion, there would have to be at least twice as much time. »
- the part where open source can be used to implement the projects»
- The project, it"s good to work during realistic circumstances. instead of just hypothesising about it.»
- the project.»
- the FSFU lecture.»
- Pretty much nothing.»
- Group Project»

15. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- way of working and defining the projects and of cource the administration»
- Spend more time making the groups. I ended up in a bad group which lead to the course being really bad, whereas I have heard of those who had were in a group that where good and enjoyed the course. Make everyone give a short motivation why they want a specific role, and build the teams based on the roles people want. Even though this takes time it is worth it because you can probably save some tutoring time in that people are in the appropriate roles. Follow-up!! Follow-up!! Follow-up!! Keep track of the progression of the different projects. We never got to should any results from our iterations. Why?!?»
- * Make the exam related to the project. The example exam given to us does not relate very well to the project. Don"t put too detailed questions in there. * Maybe the course responsible should create the groups depending on what roles people want. In my group many people wanted the same role.»
- There is not by far enough time to complete a plan driven project, so i think the course should either be longer (possibly combined with some other course) or there should not be any project at all. Plan driven developement is not appropriate when 95% of the time has to be spent on writing documents. I think the course could be a good course if there was at least twice as much time. I actually believe that Per said something like that to us too. The course book was very expencive and i think most of the students are not very interested in keeping the book as a reference in the future, so i think most students didn"t want to buy it.»
- planning ahead! information should be clear from the start! this includes type of exam, presentation guidelines, server space and other administration stuff.»
- the course goals should be more clear»
- The creation of the groups. Should spend som more time on it to make sure that the sutdents gets the posistions they want. Think they will be more motivated.»
- Lectures, it should be more concise and regular.»
- Either add a grade system to justify and exam or remove the exam»
- project part of the course. As it is now its too easy to finish, with help of oscommerce.»
- Not so much documenting if the projects should be better. The projects need more guidance and followups. Setup servers directly so the work can start right away!»
- Almost everything in my opinion. The lecture sessions should be more. So, students read more. The project work should be more focused and well-managed by course responsibles. I think it is achievable in at least two ways: more direct supervision of instructors. And second, Allotting defined points to it. I totally disagree with courses that are just PASS and FAIL. Such courses implicitly tell me do not worry, you gonna be passed anyway. So, no need to make endeavor. »
- Course Book The project»
- Make server ready before the work start and give specific guideline.»

16. Additional comments

- Make the project simpler. Less choice, and clearer goal.»
- * Maybe less focus should be put into creating the documents. It would increase the experience of working in a project like ours if the documents that we should work from was actually created before implementing the project as they should have been.»
- There was great confusion among the students in the beginning. No one knew what was expected of us. It shoould have been stated clearly from the beginning that we it was up to us to decide all deadlines and deliverables in the project plan and that that the project plan was all we had to follow. There was no time to do any research before the SURAC and the project plan was due, so we couldn"t really do a good plan. There was hardly any time to develope the system - most of the time was used to write documents. There was no time to write the documents properly so we mostly just used the example documents and left out things not applicable. We didn"t understand much of what we were doing and we didn"t learn much. We could have made a much better system if we hadn"t spend most of the time writing documents and I think that the only real leasson we learned from the project is that plan driven developement is not suitable for time limited projects. We didn"t really get to experience the good things about plan driven developement, so the whole purpose of the project was unfullfilled.»
- Unfortunatly The course was only wasting time in meetings.»
- overall the course is good.»
- Well, it"s hard to teach this in such a short course. I dont think it´,s the best course ever but I dont belive I can do a better job my self either.»
- What is actually the goal? Documents were not useful and the time spend on the actual project was very short.»
- The only reason that I can persuade myself with is that this is the first year of SET program and so its compulsory courses, because if I want to be a bit strict I have to say that this course was nothing but a title. »
