- Lectures were really interesting.» (75%)
- Although I have to admit that I don"t feel the course offered much in the lectures apart from the content of the slides.I gain a small benefit by attending every lecture. This can be good to people that could not attend all lectures, but the lectures should give a better understanding on the subject.» (100%)

- ofcourse too much to read but less is asked in exam» (To some extent)
- This exam as well as the older ones seems to focus on details rather than overall learning goals.» (To some extent)
- Perhaps designing networks and analyzing new protocols was not featured, but then again I feel that they"re probably too open-ended to include in an exam.» (Yes, definitely)
- Why send out this questionnaire before the exam?» (I don"t know/have not been examined yet)

- The teacher just reads lecture slides ,that can be done by students themselves at home ,besides one of the most important skills that a lecturer must have is the ability to keep his or her class eager .unfortunately this course"s teacher has a very monotonous voice and makes you easily fall asleep !!!» (Small extent)

- I was a little bit disappointed in the book for two reasons: 1. It assumes that you know all of the material in the cryptography chapters, which is reasonable in the book"s context but not ideal for this course (since Cryptography is not a prerequisite). 2. It goes into far too much detail about many topics, such as all the different key exchange methods in SSL,without describing the big picture first. In the end, the book wasn"t all that essential to my learning.» (Small extent)
- Didn"t go to any lectures so the course book was my source of knowledge.» (Great extent)

- Lecture notes before the lecture would be helpful. In particular, I would have liked to look up some NP-problems that you took for granted were well known. Yes, I"ve seen them, but if you don"t brief me I will not remember all details!» (Rather well)
- Biggest problem is the different classroom/week and that you have to constantly search where you have lecture, but I guess that is not a problem of the course.» (Rather well)
- Everything is clearly laid out.» (Very well)

- Used a Google group in the algorithms course, and that worked well.» (To some extent)
- It would depend on the participation of all the students and teachers.» (To some extent)
- It would help "shy" students express questions and find answers. If of course it could be kept to strictly English so that international students could also benefit from it. » (Very interested)
- in all courses having a webpage or some kind of facility that helps students to interact and cooperate is a great thing » (Very interested)

- By presenting subjects better to trigger the curiosity of the students this course has potential to be great. Also more real life examples in order to better understand the different issues could improve the course.» (Good)
- Like the Computer Communication course, this course was very practical without being focused on a specific technology or programming API. It"s good that we didn"t need to code anything (except some firewall configurations etc.) because it makes the concepts more clear. The labs were a bit inconsistent (some questions weren"t covered by the material, and there were too few supervisors for effective demonstrations) and they didn"t contribute all that much to the overall learning goals. They felt quite isolated from the rest of the course, I would say.» (Good)
- some of the labs had poorly written instructions that caused a simple lab to last for hours . Also number of lab assistants should be incremented. On the other hand lab assistants seem to just ask questions and are there for students to present their work and NOT for helping and answering questions so they should work on their "assistant" part» (Good)
- The course was well organized. The number of lab assignments and their workload as well as the number of lectures and the covered topics were very appropriate. » (Excellent)
- At last a course on network security!» (Excellent)

16. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- The female lab assistant. She is great. The labs are very good, the difficult level was perfect for me. The last lab was a bit tricky though.»
- I really the teacher assistents for this course. Keep them both. If Laleh gets flak on this evaluation it"s mostly undeserved. She"s great, just not that confident yet. »
- The amount of feedback, and the effort put into all feedback, that you provide. I never got "it"s wrong. Redo it.". This is very common in labs in other courses, and always very frustrating!»
- Labs! »
- The labs gave an additional level of understanding.»
- Focus on concepts instead of code, and the comprehensive coverage of all types of security (application, transport, network, link, wireless, certificates, etc.). Very good exam structure that doesn"t require memorization of every possible protocol but still shows a good knowledge of the many different topics.»
- The most of the stuff.»
- The weekly laboratory work/assignments in the way they were this year. They help really much to understand (and deal with) real (or almost real) world issues and situations.»
- Except for the labs (see q.17) everything worked fine.»
- laboratories.. learned a lot from it.. »
- The topics that were addressed in the course. »
- The labs»
- the whole course is an interesting subject ,with little modifications explained previously »
- everything»
- The teacher~»
- Lectures plan»

17. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- Det labs where to easy. We never needed more than two of the four hours to complete the tasks given to us. The course book should be changed! I find it unacceptable that a large part of the book isn"t even printed. What you get is one year access to an online service (good luck reselling that book). Not only this: we have to accept an EULA with an private company in order to get access to the rest of the book. So we have to accept in order to pass a the course. I find this requirement totaly unacceptable and I question if Chalmers should force students to take part in agrements with 3rd party in this way. »
- I think you should try to not use mail for hand-ins. its easy for me to lose track of what has been excepted, and what has not.»
- Refine the concept a bit to exclude some parts like link level security(personal preference thought) in favor of more interesting subjects.»
- If possible, a better summary of cryptographic concepts for students who are unfamiliar with them. Preferably a book that"s more relevant to the course and less verbose. Some of the additional reading felt like overkill, in particular the security assessments of TCP and IP (and it didn"t help that I read the plain text RFCs).»
- Nothing.»
- If you were not the first group to demonstrate your lab, you could be sitting waiting for quite some time. Also, the labs could have been a bit bigger and give the students more freedom to elaborate.»
- reducing the number of topics to study rather increasing the detail in which we study the topics»
- Clearer goals and exams that test *reasoning* about the topics rather than asking about e.g. the meaning of a specific field in the IPsec header.»
- I would like to have labs more like a lecture with explanation. Not just "do all your tasks and go home". Although labs weren"t bad, I would like to go in deeper details.»
- »
- the way lectures are held and given »
- nothing»
- Not necessarily»
- Maybe the labs can be made more practical, or just more labs organized to cover more topics of the course.»

18. Additional comments

- Course owns. I really like Tomas as lecturer. I never fell alseep becourse of Tomas but rather because I"ve been upp early working and I get really tired during the afternoon. »
- Qualitative course, good job!»
- If possible some more guest lectures.A good course that I am happy of choosing. »
- Your diagrams of important security protocols are better than the fairly bloated ones in the book, and I believe they can be made even clearer by stripping away some "redundant information" (like including in a message both the address and the identity of another party, which seem similar enough to merge in a high-level overview) and by using color-coding to show what information is readable by whom instead of using the somewhat dense E[...] syntax, which is even more dense in the book. I haven"t had time to try this color-coding by myself but it seems like it should work fairly well for our purposes.»
- really useful for people who wants to make security as their carrier..»
- It was one of the best courses I had in my life.»
- WLANs are becoming more and more popular and widely used, hence it can be greatly beneficial to carry out some WLANs penetration testings and deal with their vulnerabilities as a lab assignment. »
- I"m surprised we are not more focused on IPv6 which hopefully will become the standard soon»
- thanks»
- Thanks! It"s been interesting and probably useful for my future career.»
