The homepage on GUL (http://gul.gu.se/public/courseId/46726/lang-sv/publicPage.do) didn"t refer to that one at all. Vladimir regretted to hand out lecture slides when we needed them the most! - I was expecting to hear more about designing a system for testability. In my opinion, that is where unit testing becomes interesting. The basis is really very simple, but applying it to a complex system can be difficult. Also testing things with side-effects, e.g. writing files, how does one test this properly? That is what I had expected to learn more about.» (Adequate)
- It"s nice to see in-house tools such as KeY.» (Good)
- Top 3 highest quality courses I have taken at Chalmers. However a bit boring that like 75% of the course is not used in industry.» (Excellent)
- Wolfgang Ahrendt is an excellent teacher! His assistants were knowledgeable and friendly. I"ll recommend this course to anyone.» (Excellent)

16. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- The labs»
- lab assignments»
- Getting to see lecture hand outs before the lectures so you can prepare.»

17. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- Should spend more time on test cases»
- The course NEEDS some literature.»
- course material should be made clearer»
- Easier and less time consuming to install and use course tools.»
- Remove lab 3 and the useless logic parts. Replace Gabriele with a better assistant. Make lab sessions.»

18. Additional comments

- The slides should be better explained, i definately believe that more effort could be put on explaining things more pedagogically. They are very messy and they include a lot of unnecessary information that only confuse. My tip is to remake the slides for next year and make them more easy to understand!»
- Thanks for a nice course.»
- I have a general comment regarding this course in relation to a few others. Before taking this course I have taken the SE using formal methods and the concurrent programming course. I find that these courses overlap a bit too much. Or rather, they focus on things that would be more fitting in the other course. I"m not saying the topics aren"t relevant in the courses as they are now, but it could be better. I would suggest this: -Move the spin / promela topic from SEFM to CP. It is much more relevant and practical there. We even used a course book from Ben-Ari there too. -Include hoare logic in the same depth as it was covered in TDV in SEFM instead of in TDV. -Focus more on testing larger scale systems with dependencies in TDV as mentioned in the answer to a previous question. -Advice people not to take TDV after SEFM, because then SEFM is tough and TDV is a bit dull and repetitive. The other way round is fine.»
- The question about debugging on the exam was a bit ambiguous. The definition of "a correct english sentence" was left out. Knowing that by heart is not relevant to the course at all.»
- Great teachers, passionate about the subject.»
