1. Theme 1: rate the following aspects

(5: very satisfying, 0: not satisfying at all)

Matrisfråga

- More lectures in the beginning and less in the end. For instance three lectures per week for the first three weeks and after the third week just one lecture per week.»
- We had a very good expert which helped us with very critical information for the success of our project. However, other have complained that the supervisors was poorly prepared and didn"t even had read the article. For next year, have some kind of coaching of the supervisors before, I know it takes time, but it will most probably be worth it.»
- I think it"s much easier if you just update TimeEdit instead of having a separate schedule on the course home page. Good coverage of the important aspects of patents, and nice to have a guest lecture by the patent attorney.»
- there were mixed information between the template and the other paper you could read the exercises from»
- Time for theme1 could be reduced, because 4 weeks is more than enough. It would be better to give more time for theme2 instead.»
- The written information was clear, but when the project was first presented during the first lecture I (and probably many others) completely misunderstood the purpose of the last assignment, writing the claim.»

2. Theme 1: Which components could have been stressed more?

- project management -> psychological issues»
- Claim 1»
- Group co-workers who hardly speak English or are not interested in the course, may you can ask to write small essay from people how apply for the course.»
- The cuccessful entrepreneurship examples, what the famouse entrepreneurs experienced in their way»
- Everything was fine.»
- Patentsearching. The lecture we got was good, but I felt this was one of the most useful things in the course that I will probably use for the rest of my career. »
- What the main claim should contain could be a bit clearer I guess.»
- None»
- Comparison of height of innovation in the article and closely related patents is the heart of the theme, I learnt how to search patents and understand the innovation in them. Secondly, I think comparison of article and patent is unrequired not just because the differences were very obvious but also because they were already discussed the lectures. »
- I think that every components had their specific weight»
- the way you were meant to write the claim»
- Theory about entrepreneurship and project management»
- The market plan»
- Project management and how to behavior in groups»
- height of innovation part»
- I think that if you want that we really do good claims you should give us more information about it and not really poor lectures as we had in the course.»
- searching the patents»
- I think it was all good.»

3. Theme 2: rate the following aspects

Matrisfråga

- see 1»
- Theme 2 could have used more time. It could have been made clear who the audience was in course information.»
- We needed to approach our previous supervisor to understand at what technical depth we had to present. I think this could have been fixed with a couple of sentences in the assignment description.»
- I think it"s much easier if you just update TimeEdit instead of having a separate schedule on the course home page. The lectures were really really interesting and I wish there would have been more of them. I would also take like one half week from the first project and move to the second, as I thought there wasn"t enough time to do the business plan thoroughly.»
- unlike theme 1,we did not have enough time for theme 2. »
- The groups where decided quite late.»
- I think it was all good.»

4. Theme 2: Was it good to merge several small groups into one large group?

- Yes»
- Since there was time limitation there was problem to come to a harmonic supergroup, but we experienced haw to find innovative ideas from two different topics»
- Yes, this was a good team challenge, because of the break up of the existing structures and building new ones.»
- Yes, if you wanted to simulate group dynamics and the chaos of any industrial endeavour in the beginning.»
- I like the idea of taking two different ideas and make a new, but working 8 people in a group for such a short time is not optimal.»
- Yes. We never do any projects in large groups, rarely more than two persons, so its good practice.»
- Yes.»
- Definitely yes. In my opinion it was a great idea that contributes to the improvement of our group abilities and to decrease the workload.»
- I personally don"t like big groups, it becomes to hard to plan and organize anything»
- Hmm, I guess that it is a training in the project management part, but it is hard working in such a large group.»
- No»
- Yes but it could be an advantage to know which group you will merge with from the beginning. »
- Yes. It was nice to work with new people and get different perspectives on the project.»
- Yes, making a group function is harder the more people are in it. Therefore it is good to start out as a smaller group and then create a larger one.»
- Yes»
- Yes, good step to learn to cooperate and manage.»
- yes. but papers should be more related to each other rather being completely opposite. »
- I think so. I think has been good join both groups and begin to work with other people.»
- It was a BIG mistake if "small" groups did not work completly good neither big groups. It is too many people and it is really difficult to set an hour to meet that works for everybody and it is also really complex to try to find a way to mix both projects.»
- Yes»
- Yes that was the most fun part in the course!»

5. Theme 2: Is it good with several choices, or should we focus on one, e.g. popular science, business model, and increase the number of lectures on this particulat topic?

- several choices are good»
- I think it was good with an overview.»
- I believe you should cover the subjects but put more time for theme2»
- In my opinion, it would be better to concentrate on one topic. I think the business modell would be the best choice, because it fits perfectly.»
- I think you should focus on the business and market side of patenting. This will be useful, even though some students don"t take this seriously at all because it frustrates them. They need to understand that money in itself is not a problem, but the cashflow into a researchgroup or company division could be. The awareness of real-life stakes on a positive cashflow is according to me non-existant in the student group. Some of the people who have worked before or during their studies have some understanding for this.»
- I think it is good as it is.»
- No, it"s fine»
- In my opinion it better to focus on one aspect. And I would prefer Business model. »
- I think that it is good to let us know different topics and if anybody wants to study them in depth, they can do by their own»
- it were good the way it »
- I think that it is good with several choices.»
- Popular science has nothing what so ever to do with the course, so that lecture and assignment should be removed.»
- Good with several choices.»
- Yes, I think it"s better when we have options, even better that we have option to work in a group or individually.»
- Since there are participants from several different programmes I think it is a good idea to have some different choices. Also I think that the lecture on business models was interesting even though I probably will write a popular science article.»
- Yes»
- Increase the number of lecture and go more deeply into the subjects.»
- I think is good have a general idea of all the topics.»
- You should focus on one because the mix that you tried was completly poor, too bad decision.»
- Should focus on one»
- I think several choices was a good approach.»

- Jan"s lectures and literature seminar was very useful. I expected to gain something from Fredrik"s experience, I was interested in knowing how to establish a private lab, how to sustain such technological lab, and a way to use profits to grow internal research projects. » (Some extent)
- Some lectures were good. The ones about project management and one of the patent lectures. » (Some extent)
- Most of my learning came from reading articles, but ofcourse teaching help me to understand many new concepts.» (Some extent)

- Did we have course literature? Unless you count the articles for the seminar, they were great.» (Small extent)
- Pointless to read academic article in subjects we have not even seen before. Use a good text book or two instead.» (Small extent)
- I do not really think that you can learn about entrepreneurship and project management from books or lectures. It is something that you have to perform or get experience, it is really different when you face it in comparision when you read it or listen to it.» (Small extent)
- The course literature for the project management is good. However the amount of articles should be taken down, from seven to maybe 5? I would also like to discuss them all at the literature seminar.» (Some extent)

- Too big groups.» (Very poorly)
- When I told my group we needed to have better referencing I was met with a blank stare or that it wasn"t needed. This pissed me off immensely. I think references are the backbone of any written assignment or presentation. Some could not even communicate clearly in english which also put further stress on the group. And in the supergroup we were 4 people doing everything and 4 people dragging their knuckles behind them. This pissed me off even more. Especially since the 4 people not doing any work had an impact of the direction of the project. They both did not do anything and at the same time hindered me from working effectively. Although I understand that the course in itself is set to mimic people at their worst and I tried to have this in mind when people were delivering subpar work or going into bad habits like not writing down the needed references etc DIRECTLY into the document they were working with. Or when they were lazy ***** of *******. Even though I will give the grade "rather poorly" I met some people who I"d love to work with again given the chance. People with a good sense of humor, good at taking initative and constructively trying to improve on others arguments or reasoning. They even taught me stuff about my own field because of their good expertise in the same.» (Rather poorly)
- They were really closed mind, it was impossible to share points of view.» (Rather poorly)
- I it tricky to organize in the supergroups.» (Rather well)
- Up and down, as in any project... Mostly good» (Rather well)

- Completely irrelevant. This is not at all useful in a startup environment.» (0)
- I think is a really bad course. I am really sure that project management is really important, but I do not think this course is relevant for my program.» (0)
- I think that the project management part is very relevant. The other parts feels less relevant. » (4)
- I think this should be in every masterprogramme. The relevence is so high becuase of the real-life skills that are taught in this course. I have worked alongside my studies for a couple of years now and I can say that I had this recurring feeling of recognizing situations or models that were and still are valid for work. For the people that have been in school all their lives, this course will at least get them to gain their footing when going out into the real world. Also if Chalmers is serious with being an industrially oriented university, they should have more of these courses available for everyone.» (5)
- Perhaps not in my masters programme, but for the rest of my life.» (5)
- I think it seems relevant for most masters program. I really learned the difference between innovation and invention.» (5)

13. Were any of the lectures not of relevance for the course?

- Yes. Focus on what the course is about. One lecture on patents should be enough. »

14. Should certain lectures/moments be presented earlier/later, or be moved to other courses?

- yes, all of them as early as possible.»
- maybe the lecture regarding business model should be presented earlier»
- I think it would be great to generate two courses: One course with more focus on the science part and one with a little bit more focus on the buisness part.»
- I think it"s good as it is now, however it would be good to meet with the supervisor earlier.»

15. Was the scope of the course suitable (to wide or narrow)?

- was more or less ok. rather too wide.»
- It was really wide, especialy in the management part»
- Maybe a little bit to wide.»
- It is a very wide course but it is supposed to give general life skills.»
- It is good that the scope is wide.»
- Good. I"d like more of the project managing part, but that"s mostly because I found it the most interesting part. I could have listened to one of Jan"s lectures every day just for the fun of it (mostly because of the topic, but he"s a good lecturer as well). The patent part will probably be useful in the future, and I think it was covered enough. The popular science and business models felt very much in line with the overall themes of the course and was a nice addition.»
- it was good»
- I would have appreciated a little introduction to trademarks, what to think about and how to avoid trademark infringement.»
- I think it was good.»
- Yes, I think considering the fact that the course was for physics students, the scope was very much appropriate.»
- Very suitable»
- Yes»
- To narrow, some things we needed in theme 2 were not discussed.»
- i think its a suitable course»

17. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- the structure and idee of the course should be preserved»
- the projects and business model discussions»
- The project group work.»
- All of it.»
- Theme1»
- Project management part! Jan! More lectures on this theme! It doesn"t have to be a larger part of the examination, I just wish I could have had more lectures. MAybe one more lecture on business models too.»
- nope»
- Sören Sjölander, Fredrik"s self biographic lecture.»

- Perhaps the lecture about patents.»
- conversion of small groups into large group»
- The merging of groups!»

18. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- more lectures in the beginning»
- the time baalance of theme 1 & 2»
- A little bit more focus on the buisness part.»
- More information for the students where they can get help with writing and presentation skills. Also wouldn"t it be better for the target audience in theme2 to be either investors or a top-level manager in a multinational corporation.»
- The literature seminar did not live up to my expectations. I wanted to have more time for discussion, and not getting interrupted all the time.»
- Make the seminar 3 or 4 hours long, two was to short to discuss more than one article.»
- nothing in particular comes to my mind»
- All assignments. All literature. Most lectures. Use one or two text books, have a written exam instead of hand-ins and presentations.»
- Litterature seminar was great but should definately be given more time, 2h was not nearly enough (especially since Jan talked for the first 30 minutes or so).»
- More time for the Theme 2 and to reduce the readings in the literature seminar»
- See comments.»
- project management hand-out number 5.»
- The seminar I do not think that read about 8 different texts give us a really knowledge since as I said this kind of things are not possible to learn from books.»
- for getting top grade extra work»

19. Additional comments

- none»
- The project management part was interesting, however I would have liked to have more applicable information. It would be interesting to discuss group conflict and different ways of dealing with various situations. I think this would have been particularly helpful early on in the course.»
- It was a useful course but I think putting papers from other fileds like complex systems, mechanical engineering and ... will be more helpful to students with background other than nano and material scince.»
- Thank you very much, for this interesting course!»
- I would add a presentation feedback in order to improve the ability of students to speak in public.»
- good course»
- In my opinion, in the first weeks of the course we did almost nothing to do, and then in the end, when we are more stressed, we had to read the text for literature seminar and do the last group assignment. I think that the tasks could have been more shared among all the weeks.»
- Alexander is really rude and unpolite, it seems like he really does not want to teach the course. Jan does not reply the e-mails and his way of teaching is really bad, I do not expect an actor during the lecutre I just want a professor who shares me his knowledge and his experience by the way I can take advantage of it.»
- overall course is good and helpful »
