- For example the ELD part could be done more interesting by using optimization tools in e.g. Matlab to solve a larger and more real-like optimization problem. This could be given as a hand in assignment without teacher support, giving e.g. bonus points for the exam.» (No, the goals are set too low)

- The lecture slides were good afterwards, but it was difficult to understand during the lectures. Some things go to fast, it is difficult to know where the focus lies. That becomes clear during the tutorials, but I often felt unprepared for the tutorials even though I looked through the lecture slides. ACE for instance. » (Large extent)

- The only addittional litterature i"ve used are the E-books. The recommended physical books are too expensive for students to be expected to buy them. One course book that covers all (or most) topics, that students can be encouraged to actually buy, would be appreciated. » (Small extent)
- I didn"t even open a book, but still felt I learned a lot. Not sure if that is good or bad. I felt the recommended books were really expensive, and perhaps the available e-book should have been required. If not, I think we should be given some printouts of pertinent sections of books to have as reference. Perhaps I should have done it myself, but I don"t think the students will take that initiative.» (Small extent)

- Didn"t feel like we worked out enough examples. It felt rushed because we were trying to do too many things. Our tutorials were good and I learned in them, but I don"t think we should be trying to squeeze Matlab exercises into the tutorial. We need to spend that time solving problems since we do not solve problems during the lecture.» (Some Extent)

- This project was something what was persumably intended well, but horribly misfired. To be fair, the report comments we got from the tutor (Poopak) were excellent and very helpful, but this is the only positive thing here. The workload was adequate for one, maybe(!) two students, here the proposed number was 5, which is absurd, especially considered that the final report was supposed to be 3-5 pages long, and that including a handful of large graphs. And it is not even rated with a single point! So even if one is seriously trying, he or she ends up with exactly zero points, which is the same number as get those people who come (if ever) to take a nap there and then some pals of them include them into their group just because they have space and it does not matter anyway. DIgSILENT does its best to be as user-unfriendly as possible, and if groups with simulated systems of exactly the same parameters obtain simulation results which differ by 10% or so, one would suspect something is wierd here. I would strongly suggest an utter remake of the project, because it was by far the worst one I had taken part of here. » (Small extent)
- I think it should be harder. And less than 5 per group. It"s too easy of an exercise to have 5 people working on it. I could have learned more but didn"t need to try very hard since there were 5 of us.» (Some Extent)

- Interesting subject but the course could have been more challenging.» (Adequate)
- The material is good, but it could be presented better. The lectures are spent speaking to the students, not many questions are asked... I think more examples can and should be shown on the board to break up the time from just reading what is on the slides... The content is very good overall, just the presentation might be improved to keep us involved and engaged. » (Adequate)
- With the exception of computer-based project, it was an interesting, not overly difficult and a very helpful course. » (Good)

20. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- Peiyuan! Best teacher I ever had! And the lab. »
- Tutorials were executed perfectly, the way we have done them were "learning at class" which was very helping. Not like other classes i had , just copying the notes or the solutions from the board. »

21. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- More tutorials. More communication between Tuan and Peiyuan so we are better prepared for the tutorials.»
- Digsilent problems at tapchangers (simulation errors) and related faults we encountered through the lab.»
- A more extensive computer simulation project.»
- Changes with Matlab and synchronous machine part were already mentioned and I think it is a great idea, more Matlab tutorials would be of much help, even though I liked ELD and UC part, which will be probably removed. The computer-based project should be changed a lot. I would suggest groups of at most 2 people, some (bonus, maybe) points for a good report... or just remove it altogether, I do not have a feeling it will be deeply missed. »
- I thing the computer lab should be clearer what we should learn from it. »
- ELD and UC topics don"t seem to belong in this class. Matlab should be taken out, or added as a separate weekly lab to give us time to focus on it.»
- The tutorials were not prepared well and some times it was more confusing. »
- The calculation tutorials were good but there was not enough time to go through exercises so 1-2 additional hours per week more to tutorials. »

22. Additional comments

- One or more non-compulsory hand in assignment (giving e.g. bonus points for the exam) covering e.g. more advanced optimization problems in Matlab (with not too detailed instructions), would be good. This does not have to include assistance from teachers. We need more training from assignments that require problem-solving, not just "following a set of instructions"-assignments. Engineers are problem solvers!»
- I think the number of lecture slides is too high. Tuan tries to finish all slides (which is better than having to re-concentrate on them on the next lecture, and much better than leaving them unexplained), but then it takes too much time. I think most of the lectures took more than 2x45 min. »
- Keep better track of time.. Several times both tutorials and lectures have been longer than scheduled. We need the break, even if it"s the same course after the break is over.»
- Tuan and Peiyuan are very good! »
- I really appreciated the way the whole course presented the topics in various ways - the study visit, the lamp model, the guest lecturers, ARISTO, DigiSilent, etc. The first guest lecture was a bit dry and didn"t seem altogether prepared, so I think a lot of students had a hard time paying attention... The second one was good... »
- The teaching speed could be slower»
- The way that lectures were thought was not attracting. It would be better if the lecturer is more active on the teaching. »
- The exam was too long and it was more writing/calculation competition than measuring your knowledge. E.g all exercises in calculation part were much longer than latest year. »

- It gave a bat impression of vattenfall. The guids must be much better in english (eg welcome was misspelled on the fist slide) at the control room and it was dificult to understand. He who was guid at the water power station was very goog. Tha lunch gave also a poor inpression of vattenfall» (Some Extent)
