- If you only did the project it is possible to pass the course without learning many new things. » (To some extent)
- The exam did, not the project» (To some extent)
- Passing the project and passing the exam does not necessarily reflect the same knowledge. The project does not cover the complete course content. The exam seemed to though, but one can pass the exam and still not know some part of the goals. Should it really be like that?» (To some extent)
- Was one goal "Write 50 pages of equations by hand"?» (To some extent)

- Think the literature was good.» (Some extent)
- The compendium covers more or less what is in the lectures, but unfortunately not much more. Some recommendations for other literature would be great, if one wants to read more about some specific topic.» (Great extent)

- Best organized course I"ve had for a while.» (Very well)

- A bit too basic, especially for guidance to the project» (Rather bad)
- Since you dont get time to read it, its good that its short. But some parts could be described better.» (Rather good)
- too abstract, needs to be complemented» (Rather good)
- It"s very short... perhaps a little concise.» (Rather good)
- The compendium served as pre-written lecture notes. This was good, so that one could focus on listening instead of writing. It was good that it covered all that was in the lectures, but it would have been even better if it covered a bit more than that. Some examples would have been helpful. Now only the theory was explained, not how to use the theory.» (Rather good)

10. What is your opinion of the lectures?

- I experienced that there was very varying level on the lectures. On some lectures there was things that we"re covered in the physics courses in the gymnasium, and on other there was completely new things.» (Rather bad)
- The lecturer was good and clear, but sometimes could have spoken a bit louder. They didn"t give that much more than reading the compendium though, so their function was more like a lazy alternative to reading, and a way to get you out of bed. Personally I prefer to have inspirational lectures, that make you interested in the topic, and give additional insight into what you"ve been reading on your own. This would of course require the students to read more on their own, but you need to study on your own to really learn anything anyways.» (Rather good)

11. What is your opinion of the problem solving sessions?

- The only help session was the day before each deadline and there were some problems getting hold of the people who knew how to answer.» (Very bad)
- Björn was clear, pedagogical and gave good hints on how to solve the different types of problems. They were tutorials however, and served as a complement to the lectures and tutorials in showing how to actually apply the theory. The youtube-clips were a nice source of inspiration. Björn was very dedicated to helping us learn.» (Rather good)
- Help came quickly and when teachers didn"t have time one more assistent came to help. Nice» (Rather good)
- Björn is good but writes the ugliest omegas known to man» (Very good)
- Did not have time to go to them.» (No opinion)

- To much irrelevant and tedious calculus that gives nothing to the understanding of the course. Better would be if the project was a bit smaller and had more problems of the same type in order to learn how to actually do it.» (Very bad)
- Hardest most time consuming in my whole time at Chalmers. Too much non-rewarding mathematics. Too little direct connection with Problems. Please don"t use this assignment again.» (Very bad)
- Required to much work. And it was very different from what you would learn from the other tasks in the problem solving sessions and on the exam.» (Very bad)
- I don"t got a real chance to fulfill it.» (Very bad)
- A complete catastrophe. I"ve spent, literally, days, troubleshooting plus and minus signs in enormous equations. This is just meaningless. If I had spent the time actually learning things, I would probably know something about rigid body dynamics. In my opinion, the motivation of hand written projects (harder to copy someone else) isn"t a very cleaver point of view. It"s just as easy to copy someone else either way. A better method would be an oral presentation of the project. I would like to see that in the next course there should be a guide how to set it up in Matematica (constraints, small angles etc...) and also an individual oral presentation to ensure that everybody who does the project, also understands the project. There should also be more information about and around the project. It felt like there was alot of things that everybody had to ask either Per Åke or Björn before understanding what to do... It feels a little pointless if everyone have to ask about the same thing. » (Very bad)
- I got the concept after three pages of handwritten equations. the other forty just felt like punishment or like building a card house. You had to be really careful and have a lot of patience but then you missed a little index somewhere and everything collapsed and you had to start over. extremely frustrating!» (Very bad)
- It was very boring and it I didnt learn much. » (Rather bad)
- It was partly fun to learn this but takes too much time and is too much about just writing equations. Feels like its just about doing the same thing over and over again. Does not seem to reflect what is said in the lectures.» (Rather bad)
- Bottom line: if you do the project, you don"t have time to study for the exam. I spent more than half of the time just doing algebra and correcting algebraic errors. It was so easy to make mistakes. If the goal was to show that even a seemingly simple problem gets complicated if you try to work with them manually, then that has succeeded.» (Rather bad)
- to much time on math instead of the cours, did not propair you for the examination at all.» (Rather bad)
- good, but part A was a bit to much just writing equations.» (Rather good)

- Good to get used to this kinds of problems. But the rest of the course made this part hard to really focus.» (Rather good)
- It gave some insight into how one would work with rigid body problems in practice. Couldn"t the project and lab be integrated somehow?» (Rather good)
- Fun and good learning» (Very good)

- The teachers always helped you when you asked. Especially Björn dedicated a lot of time and effort to help the students. But the project and lack of time to study the Problems resulted in too many times having to ask them for help at the office.» (Rather good)
- It was a bit difficult to get help in the breaks, as there were always a lot of people asking questions. So it was good with the project supervision hours. During the ADAMS labs there were not big problems getting help. In case one had questions outside the lectures and supervision, both Per-Åke and Björn were very helpful if you stepped by their office.» (Very good)
- did get help every time.» (Very good)

- Even if the project was individual, it was crucial to have the chance to discuss the project with students when needed.» (Very well)
- It had to work well. Alot of us were helping each other, especially with the project because of the lack of information around it.» (Very well)
- I would not have made it without my friends being in the same situation. Very high stress level» (Very well)

- It is not weighed correctly. The assignment should reflect the different parts of the course more, and should not take this much time. After this course I felt like I could have learnt more if I would have skipped the assignment and just gone to the lectures and done the problems. Now I did not have time to do any problems.» (?)
- The project takes away ALL the focus from the actual theory. I did not have time to do a single example from the compendium and I definitely regret taking the project» (Poor)
- I would have liked this course really much if I had gotten the chance to calculate assignments instead of writing millions of greek letters by hand. This is the 21th century!» (Adequate)
- Useful knowledge to have in your toolbox, but the course did not provide that much inspiration unfortunately.» (Good)

20. What do you like the system that you can pass the course by doing the project and ADAMS labswithout doing the exam?

- If I consider my learning I think it is a bad idea. But in this course, with such a high work load it felt really good. » (Very bad)
- Make project less comprehensive and only give bonus points. Better to make it a help in getting through the Problems, rather then preventing the students from doing it at all.» (Very bad)
- Takes all the motivation to study out of the last weeks. » (Rather bad)
- Passing the project and passing the exam does not reflect the same knowledge.» (Rather bad)
- It"s good but strange at the same time since you don"t learn the same things if you the project or do the exam tasks..» (Rather good)
- I don"t got a real chance to fulfill the project.» (Rather good)
- Think I had learn more by studying to the exam.» (Rather good)
- It is unfair to call rhe project "optional" when you need 18 out of 20 for a five on the exam.» (Rather good)
- Passed the course thanks to that» (Very good)
- It"s very good... but the project has to be revised. I would like to see an oral presentation» (Very good)
- Project could be more preparing for the exam.» (Very good)

21. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- the Adams-lab, and a smaller assignment like the one we had.»
- The lectures, good when writing on the blackboard instead of using overhead or powerpoint»
- The project.»
- All»
- Projects»
- Adams lab»

22. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- I think it would be better with smaller projects using matlab that could give you some extra bonus points for the exam. »
- The assignment. How it is structured and how much time it takes to do.»
- Solutions to the Problems. Especially the first two chapters which are crucial to the rest of the course.»
- The project should not take up so much place!»
- No opinion.»
- Compendium should be revised.»
- The Project.»
- Gice the students a real chance to fulfill the project or skip it.»
- NA»
- The project.»
- The project should focus more on the course contents and less on algebra and linearization.»
- The project should only give some bonus points for the exam, and also be easier.»
- The voluntary project was a total NIGHTMARE!»
- The project gave nothing more than rotation matrices»

23. Additional comments

- No»
- Bad passing rules for the project.»
- NA»
- The biggest flaw in the course is the gap between the project and the lectures. I"ve completed the project and didn"t do the exam and it feels like I don"t know anything about rigid body dynamics. What I learned from the project was to troubleshoot and to handle large matrices. It actually feels embarrassing to have passed the course because of the little amount I"ve learned. »
- The people involved in the course were very dedicated, and probably spent A LOT of work correcting the projects. Both the projects and the exam were corrected/graded VERY quickly.»
- "Must be done by hand to prevent cheating" So you mean a cheater that copies something by han learns more than a cheater that copies by ctrl+c, ctrl+v? Programming code can be just as unique as handwriting and this is not the 20th century anymore.»
- Easy to get help! »
