- Marcus Linders abilities as a supervisor were weak, He really need to think about what we are supose to do and how that is judged in the best possible way for OUR education"s sake. i.e. If we are suppose (our own understanding) to write a consultansy report, we shall do so, not produce something inbetween that and an academic paper.» (OK)
- Enjoy doing things directly related to reality...» (Good)
- Connection to reality!» (Very good)
- kul att lära sig customer development processen, det gav ett nytt perspektiv, roligt att presentera inför riktigt branschfolk, det gjorde att alla skärpte till sig och presentationerna blev verkligen jättebra.» (Very good)
- I personally took a lot and total new view on businessdevelopment. And especially because most of the time engeneers are trimmed and taught with focus on a carreer in large industries. Could be good to make this even clearer in the course and really give option of how you could develope after finishing your degree. From my point of view this is something hard to catch and most people will stick to what they can see clearly. But I am a aware that entrepreneurship is not always easy to capture and definatly not always predictable.» (Very good)

- Didn"t bother reading Dorf second part, before the second quiz. That book is the most pathetic piece of shit I ever laid my hands on. Complete data dump, extremely boring, feels like it is written for a 15-year old. Seriously it has to go. It has to go. I did better on 2nd quiz when I hadn"t read a single line, than when i prepared for the 1st. The book just confuses you with all the usless data data data.» (50%)

Goals and goal fulfilment

The course syllabus states the course goals in terms of learning outcomes, i.e., knowledge, skills and attitudes to be acquired by the student during the course.

7. How understandable are the course goals?

57 svarande

I have not seen/read the goals»15 26%
The goals are difficult to understand»0 0%
The goals give some guidance, but could be clearer»18 31%
The goals clearly describe what I am supposed to learn»24 42%

Genomsnitt: 2.89

- The goals for the project were not clearly described. There was no real limit what actually to be done. Also, there are no guidelines for grading. This should definitely be improved so students know where most effort should be put» (The goals give some guidance, but could be clearer)

8. Are the goals reasonable considering your background and the number of credits?

Answer this this question only if you do know the course goals.

9. Did the examination assess whether you have reached the goals?

Answer this this question only if you do know the course goals.

49 svarande

No, not at all»1 2%
To some extent»19 38%
Yes, definitely»14 28%
I don"t know/have not been examined yet»15 30%

Genomsnitt: 2.87

- I have read all, and not just once, even though I"m not sure I passed the exam! It was focused on very narrow things and not much on the broader context. The last question took way too long time, and I think there was too little time for it! Further, I missed the whole question about "earlyvangelists" just because I didn"t know thet word. When I looked it up after I got upset, because I could have written so much about it if there just was a short explanation about the word. Overall, I feel like I faild because of words. The exam was too word-focused!!! There was also a lot of important concepts that were left out.» (No, not at all)
- First part of the exam was ok, perhaps a bit too low level. The second question was not a test of reaching goals or knowledge, it was a test of endurance, ability to get great ideas in a split second. It was way too much focus on the idea rather than on the process of nurturing an idea. Should be more theoretic if you intend to test if someone has learnt something, and shorter. It was a challenge indeed, but not the challenge one should be pitted against on an exam in my humble opinon.» (To some extent)
- In my opinion the exam was not good. 1. One of the questions about sales, was based on one guest lecture. From that lecture there was no available material like slides. Not fair! 2. This is the worst and biggest part. That you based the big 25p question on the same area that we based our project on. First 50% of the course was customer development, den 50% of the exam tests the same thing. Why is that so? What happened to all the other areas that we learnt about in the course? » (To some extent)
- Feelt that the last question on the exam was abit limiting because there was room for alot more, but that didn"t produce any points...» (To some extent)
- I did not like that the exam emphasized on the customery discovery process again when we already did a case study (50% of the course) using this framework. » (To some extent)
- I would have preferred if the exam had more, less extensive questions. The 6th question especially, was way too broad, extensive and took a lot of effort.» (To some extent)
- Understanding the theorie is one thing. You really understood something if you successfully applied it in the project. » (To some extent)
- "improved their understanding of the problems and challenges involved how to manage the commercialization of technology and development of new businesses" this is one of the goals in the course pm. But I don not feel that this was checked during the exam, the questions in the end were to big and did not check if you hade understod the challanges and key aspects behind creating a new business. They rather checked how creative you are under tight time schedule. They again focused too much on the customer development proces, which we have aldready worked with for quite some time in the projects. So if you want to check better that we have really learned the customer discovery process then have smaller project group. There are so much other things that are interesting and important in the course so I think that the end questions should only be focused on Business model, because now you do not have time to that properly due to time must be put on the customer discovery questions.» (To some extent)
- Exam is next week!» (I don"t know/have not been examined yet)
- Do not like the quizes, it does not feel like an examination for a master. You could easily pass without having opened the book. Still did not to the exam. Missed more clear guidelines for the project.» (I don"t know/have not been examined yet)

10. I learnt about

Matrisfråga

- It could be said that we got familiar with differrent key terms and methods but more practical activities is still needed»
- Only the first chapters in crossing the chasm book was valuable, the rest was just a lot of talk. The venture book captured important things, but there were also a lot of talk that many times felt unecessary.»
- Exam had a question about this last part? We had one guest lecture with no slide hand-outs? Was it mandatory? Will be hard for you guys to motivate a correct answer given that there seems to be no definite course material covering it...»
- When it comes to VC, I feel that I only got to skimm the surface. It feels like you sell your soul to the devil, but how serious is it really? How does it really work for the entrepreneur?»
- really appreciated the sales lecture!!»
- A good mix of everything»
- Were strange article about business planning in the course. That together with the slides on that subject is not coherent. »
- In the last three, we get a basic idea. But of course we don"t have time enough to do everything, unfortunatelly.»

- The supervision has been very good, but not contributed to the learning.» (Small extent)
- Marcus Linder was stressed and not a good supervisor. Very little comments in the beginning and when it was too late to do anything he told us everything that was wrong ith the report. Very poor performance» (Small extent)
- We had great supervision per se, the project was a bit vague though, and new stuff arose every meeting. This was allowed, that wasn"t. Then it was. Then this was needed. But that is not the supervisors fault though. That"s the result of a slave-like project with very weak outline"s fault.» (Some extent)
- During the project we didn"t have that much guidelines, that was fine and it gave us the possibility to develop our working process to fit our specific company. However, the supervisor just wanted us to expand the project over and over again. There were never any ending. For me this was negative, of course a project is supposed to be revised during the process, but considering the time limit we had to stop some where in order to be able to do a good job. After all, its about quality and not quantitiy. My group was not satisfied with the supervision, it just confused us. In this type of project, when we are working with specific companies, the supervisor don"t know all the specific details to the same extent as we do. This supervisor didn"t go with us to the company like other supervisors did, so in my opinion I think he should be more involved in the company visits to understand the scope and purpose. » (Some extent)

- There was a serious clash in the group, two strong voices only wanted to get a grade and leave for their master thesis. They actually said "Fuck abinitio, I just want a grade" thous, they weren"t keen on writing the truth in the report i.e. they only wanted to make it look academically good, but didn"t care about the reality or doing the best possible thing for Abinitio. I wanted the completely opposite - optimize everything for Abinitio and a appropriate grade Should follow...However, Linders view was more on the lines to do the best academical report possible, which didn"t do things better... The final result was a report that looks okey, but is bad for abinitio and we didn"t really get to practice how to write a consultancy report. (However, it doesn"t really matter anymore, because we simply bypassed the written medium and took it face-to-face and I believe Abinitio really benefited from the whole thing after that.)» (Rather poorly)
- Had big discussions in the group. » (Rather well)
- some friction in my group, but nothing unusual» (Rather well)
- Most of our project group worked well together but sometimes we had clashes with one or two individuals. Much because of the ambiguity inherent in the project task, which we fully didn"t understand. Thus arguments arose which severely worsened our cooperation.» (Rather well)

- Working with foreign students who have a hard time following group discussion and contributing to the group is a great exercise in group dynamics and allows students to practice leadership. However, in terms of the course material, it severely limits learning.» (Rather well)

- We did not benefit of any special guidance from supervisor» (Somewhat unengaged but professional about it)
- Although, sometimes difficult to get supervision. Felt sometimes a negative tone. But overall good» (Adequately committed and engaged)
- missed meeting with abinitio and first lecture, not good as he consequently missed important early info and we lost a lot of time early.» (High level of commitment and engagement)
- He was indeed committed and showed interest and that I appreciate.» (High level of commitment and engagement)

- I would appreciate to have more interaction with the tutor. I supervision meetings were too much focus on what the tutor had to say and not what we thought.» (Adequate)
- The supervisor was competent and engaged in our project but sometimes we got ambiguous answers. In the end we worked more towards pleasing the supervisor rather than doing something that we could be 100% sincere about.» (Adequate)
- very satisfying comments and guidence throughout the report. But sometimes he uses a difficult language.» (A good supervisor)
- commited, acknowledgable... » (A good supervisor)
- Christian is very dedicated and easy to discuss with.» (One of the best I have had)

- best practice slavery imo - FOLLOW THIS, TRAVEL, CALL, DO THIS AND THAT ON YOUR EXPENSE. DONT DEVIATE FROM THE PLAN. DON"T SPECULATE, DON"T PRACTICE YOUR STRATEGIC THINKING. FOLLOW THIS LIST OF TASKS - NOTHING ELSE! WHERE DO I SEND MY PHONE BILL?» (Did not learn much from the project)
- The project was based on good theory that I really enjoyed working with. But, the project was too big, considered the time available for the project. I have never before put this much time into a project. » (Like an average project in a course)
- It was an interesting and useful experience. I have never had such a project before» (I learned unusually much in this project)
- However, my view of that education should be adaptive to the situation and focus on what would be good for our future, crashed and burned. » (One of the most valuable course projects I"ve done)
- Great project. Keep it that way!» (One of the most valuable course projects I"ve done)
- I learnt to study something real and face the job world. It was really good although I think we didnt learn all the topics with this project. It was more focused in one thing.» (One of the most valuable course projects I"ve done)

Summarizing questions

26. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- Johan Sköld-lektionen»
- the "real" project»
- the project work and guess lecture»
- The project!»
- The guest lectures»
- All the lecture guests, specially Saras Sarasvathy / Johan Sköld »
- projects»
- The overall course was very good. The venture was very bad and lowered my motivation level.»
- The guest lectures, Sörens lectures, the project»
- Everything»
- Guest lecture with the guy from SCA! Johan Sköld was also good. »
- sören. crossing the chasm book customer discovery »
- All guest lecturers were great!»
- Sören as teacher and the project. The articles were interesting.»
- Guest lectures, focus on customer discovery, crossing the chasm, business modelling etc. »
- Guest lectures»
- the projects»
- The guest lectures»
- the project 2 quizes»
- The project»
- The projects and Sören Sjölander!»
- The quizes are good, made me read the book prior to them.»
- the project and guest lectures»
- The project and the guest lectures»
- the lecture guests»
- The mini test are valueable because they make you discuss the theorie early»
- Excellend lectures and guests!»
- Good with customer discovery project, but you cannot really assume that people will pay from their own money to go around and interview people outside gothenburg, or call people outside sweden, Think of which resources that the students have to put down in each case when choosing the project.»
- The project with the interesting companies! Maintain contact with them for next years students...»
- High quality and clearly focused projects. Guest lecturer Johan Sköld»
- the guest lecturers, though Sanberg"s lecture could have been a bit more exiting. The project was very interesting.»
- Project, guest lectures (especially johan skold), »
- The overall agenda, well organized and balanced.»
- The lectures were amazing: the idea of having lectures from different expertise with differents backgrounds were really good. The way they drove the lecture, too (including the regular one, Sören).»
- Good guest speakers. The project.»

27. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- Bättre administration. Artiklar saknades, bristande samstämmighet i anvisningar (tex sidomfång i projektrapporten och olika uppgifter på vilka kapitel som quizen gällde) mm.»
- less to read...»
- none»
- More aligned feedback from the supervisors. They gave somewhat differing messages...»
- new firms»
- Organization on the course homepage, clarity about content of quizes, exam and project deadlines.»
- Make sure that the project groups are balanced in the number of Swedish and international students.»
- Change the venture book. The course was good.»
- Boil down literature to essentials to decrease reading time load. some of the articles were a bit redundant in combination with the book. Maybe the style of tutoring for the project can be changed, I found there to be a lot of "wooly academic talk" and time lost in communicating directives for the report etc. This made me loose focus from time to time eventhough im convinced about the excellent competences of the tutor.»
- Nothing»
- Quiz, does not serve any purpose. Does not feel like an examination for a master course.»
- Project PM didn"t provide much clear about direction what we have to conclude for the company after finish Customer Discovery process.»
- The exam should have a broader focus.»
- Customer Discovery Process should have nothing to do with the project imo. How fun is it to follow some best practice mumbojumbo which will be rendered obsolete within a decade or two, let the students think and analyze rather than sticking to a silly best practice list of tasks. And for the love of god, once again, the dorf book gotta go. It is just so freaking bad, just thinking of it makes me annoyed.»
- The exam must be better, not focus the exam on the same thing as in the project. Not neccesary, just stupid. »
- Make it clear what is expected to be produced from the project i.e. consultancy report yes or no...»
- Add some reading guides for each week (see course evaluation group notes)»
- The exam should not focus on the same thing as the prject. Even though it could be perceived as favorable since one should have great knowledge in it from the projects, it made the exam a bit to narrow. I did not get the chance to show you everything I learnt.»
- The book Technology Ventures»
- the project PM, people are not able to let the questions go, so they will want to answer them all, here you loose a lot of time!»
- The crossing the chasm book. I think it"s probably enough with the lecture and the other material dealing with the subject.»
- get rid of the exam, extend the project!»
- The exam was TOO much aimed at Steven Blanks book. If you add this to the project, nearly 70-80 out of 100 points in the course was about Four steps to epiphany!!!!!!! I mean, it is good but not that good»
- It was fun to work with our project, but project teams might be bit too large. In smaller teams, like 4 people, it is easier to work as communication is much faster (to listen everybody and discuss things)»
- 6 people working together is 50% of my grade. Some in my group did internship and worked on the side and did therefore not do much in the project group. So as 1/6 my share of the overall performace of the group is little. either change so the group work is 40% of the course or have smaller groups with 4 people so that my performance in a greater way is a part of the gorups overall performance»
- Perhaps make sure the company (all those interested within the company) know that they should be at our presentations when they are given, especially since it"s so well organised with socialising afterwards and all (and that they are welcome to socialise more..). Because if they attend there, the students wouldn"t have to spend some hours the day before the hand-in in their other course explaining again what has already been said...»
- State the objectives with the project early on. What process to follow was clear, but not the presentation of it.»
- I didn"t like that much the lecture about how Venture capitalists works. It wasnt because of the concepts since I was interested on it, but more on the teacher. It was a little bit harder to follow than others. But probably it"s just my feeling.»

28. Additional comments

- You have to have a final summary lecture, where you emphasis the importance of the course! This is where you get the most questions from the class as well! »
- Bra kurs, bra föreläsningar, kul projekt och mingel med vin är trevlingt :) Tack!»
- none»
- Good course. Interesting. A lot to read...»
- liked the course»
- A good course but due was not motivated during it. That has nothing to do with the course though.»
- Overall a very good and inspiring course. Personally a very high workload, partly because of a lack of previous knowledge/experience with business/management type courses.»
- This is a good course, you can hardly find courses like this in my home country.»
- the MEI program needs a course in finance to teach how to make a financial forecast and project cash flows and a net present value»
- I am negative about two main things being the dorf book and the project, however, all in all it was a good overview-of-CNB course!»
- Pick companies that is located in Gothenburg, and not outside Borås in the woods. We could not get there without cars. This is expensive and we were lucky having to people in our groups that could borrow their parents cars. All the phonecalls, travelling to customers etc. cost us money. Everyone does not have that extra money...»
- Thank you for the course and getting me into contact with MindMancer! They were very pleased with our results and potential business deals.»
- Nothing special. All in all a great course»
- it was a really great course! For PhD student could be also a good option if they could investigate potential of their own ideas. It would save some time and give additional benefits for our eductaion and research! »
- Update on if they succeed in marketing their product would be fun.»
- the cheese party was very nice!»
- If you could find a project were we could apply more concepts, but still "real". It could be perfect, but I guess it"s almost impossible.»
