- Really some of the worse lectures ive attended, sorry to say. Prepare yourself more. If u will examplify on the blackboard, dont improvize it. Prepare.» (Small extent)

- The teaching was VERY poor. His verbal english skills was not good enough to teach at master level.» (Small extent)

- Didnt buy book.» (Small extent)
- we had to read the lecture notes because the teacher said the book is different from what i teach ,and the lecture notes are just the titles and there is no explanation for them ,not to mention that those few sentences as "explanation" were all wrong grammatically, with so many errors in dictation, vague figures and pictures with no explanation» (Small extent)
- The book i not perfect.» (Some extent)
- The course book did not reflected the course material very good. An improvement would be to give more precise reading instructions in order to avoid reading a lot of material not relevant for the course.» (Some extent)

- I can"t stand listening to the lecturer. He probably has great knowledge and lots to offer but I just can"t listen to him. And the labs were unnecessary hard. Poorly made lab pm and much time was spent just to figure out how CORBA and Netsim worked instead of understanding the algorithms etc.» (Poor)
- this is one of the main courses for my program and yet it was a disaster.I have no idea what distributed systems are really about ,and have not learned anything useful for my future career.A lecturer should be able to transfer his or her knowledge in the best way to the students, and specially for computer science courses this should be accompanied with good and useful labs and projects that can teach us something.and of course not to mention how bad the lab assistants were.most of the times they were absent i.e. lab session with no one to assist the students and even if they were there they couldn"t answer our questions ,and they were not accord with the lecturer .and they left the lab so early » (Poor)

12. What should definitely be preserved to next year?

- The difficulty level of the labs were perfect since I worked alone. Sven-Arne was also very good at explaining things.»
- In the lecture slides, the mentioned topics should have the references linked in the course homepage »
- The labs.»
- Netsim. This is a great program for developing algorithms in a distributed setting.»
- nothing really »
- the course is long .and time less and very fast.and there is no time extra for studying exam. there should be some day extra for preparation for exam.»

13. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- I think it would be enough with two Netsim labs, but I am not sure what to replace the fourth lab with. One CORBA lab was enough to understand the concepts in my opinion, so the fourth lab would have to be about something different. The difficulty level of the lectures was too low. They focused too much on the basics of networking and repeating stuff, instead of going deeper into the topics.»
- Lecturer and lab pm.»
- The teacher.»
- ld or at the VERY LEAST have a reference to where you can read about it. You can"t rely on that something compulsory can implicitly reference to something non-compulsory like a lecture, the labs have to be stand-alone in that sense. Also one of the lab assistants (I think there were two) Zhang Fu I think his name was. I have no idea how he got the job. Every time we asked him a question, he didn"t know, and had to sit and look through the papers or simply come back to us later with an answer, which even wasn"t correct at all times.»
- everything ,the lecturer ,lab assistants, the types of projects, the course literature ...everything.»
- The labs! Their intent is good, when you finally manage to understand them. A reoccuring thing in the lab assignments is that they lack information about what you"re supposed to do. They usually tell you how to do it, to some extent, but not WHAT. Like the logical clock algorithm with release request. What is a resource? Is it something kept at each node? Is there only one? Can only one node access a resource at any given time? Things like this were not told in the lab paper which they should or at the VERY LEAST have a reference to where you can read about it. You can"t rely on that something compulsory can implicitly reference to something non-compulsory like a lecture, the labs have to be stand-alone in that sense. Also one of the lab assistants (I think there were two) Z.F. I think his name was. I have no idea how he got the job. Every time we asked him a question, he didn"t know, and had to sit and look through the papers or simply come back to us later with an answer, which even wasn"t correct at all times.» (den här kommentaren har blivit redigerad i efterhand)

14. Additional comments

- It"s not much to learn, the exam was easy. It"s just that the learning in this course is far from optimal.»
- An interesting subject, but unfortunately one of the worst courses I"ve taken at Chalmers.»
- people are spending their time when they come to the lectures ,at least someone should supervise what the lecturers are doing to see if they are able to transfer their knowledge.just take a look at lecture videos from Stanford university or MIT university then you can see how much big is the difference between their way of teaching and ours.»
- Teacher: When making examples of algorithms on the blackboard. Start with ONE message and make a very simple example. THEN do a more complex example with many nodes sending many messages or whatever the algorithm should do.»
