- Example exams look very hard to understand. It"s difficult to understand the questions and provided solutions are somtimes missing. The real exam wasn"t so good either. Questions were hard to understand and especially Q5 and 6 were very strange.» (To some extent)

- To use a Swedish phrase: "en riktig kalkon-kurs administrativt". Very bad information on the website, slow updates, horribly bad assistants (a little better in the very end of the couse though) and the computer issue that made it impossible to work for a couple of days.» (Very badly)

- Worked well except for one thing: The time needed to get feedback from the lab supervisors on the Fire system. Took extremely long time. Apparently this is common on this course, it has been like this for years. WHYYYYY!?!?!?!??!» (Rather well)

- When you have 2 assistants, and one of them knows absolutely nothing about the subject what so ever, it can"t be described as anything but very poor!» (Very poor)
- It was unclear when the tutors were available. More time to receieve help would had been nice.» (Rather poor)
- ...but the lecturer couldn"t answer the questions. The course assistants were totally invisible in the beginning of the course. They could (or only one of them) arrive an hour(!!!!!) late and take a seat in the rear part of the room while students are still looking for an assistant to show up. It"s not very comfortable to review single assitants, but for this course I have to: Ran Ji was a terrible assistant. Always late, always invisible, if you ask for help he just watches your code for 20 minutes and says something obvious. » (Rather good)

- Both of us postponed assignments somewhat, but co-operation went very well when we actually did something. » (Rather well)
- My lab group took help from another group instead of asking for help from the assistants. We learn"t a lot more from listening to them than beeing watched for 20 minutes by some confused assistant.» (Very well)

- because the assignments were late checked and sometimes if one is needed a re-submit then sometime you get two assignments to do for conc. prog. while some from other course.» (Too high)

- This course, in my eyes, had the potential of being the best course yet. However, a teacher who was rather unstructured, stressed through everything and one assistant who knew absolutely nothing of the subject makes it a not-so-pleasant-experience.» (Poor)

15. What should definitely be changed to next year?

- Faster response on the hannd-ins.»
- Betters lab assistants. Faster responses to lab submissions.»
- more attention to JAVA implementations of all problems, there were no any information about sockets in Java»
- Handledarna kunde inte ibland språken labbarna var i. En grupp berättade att deras lab2 blivit godkända trots att dom inte fungerade. Det fanns på tok för lite material på hur JR fungerade. Det blev onödigt smärtsamt att försöka lista ut det samtidigt som man skulle klara av labben. JR var dessutom en plåga att installera hemma och setup_course fungerade lite då och då på Chalmers. Rättningen på labbarna var oacceptabelt långsam. Inte alla av årets handledare borde fortsätta nästa året. Vi frågade en om hjälp och han var typ "vi testar och ändra här och ser om något ändras". Hade ingen strategi för att hitta felet utan sa att vi skulle testa och ändra lite slumpmässiga saker och se om det blev bättre (Ja, han sa så!). »
- Assignments should be changed as it has no role in practicing the concepts. most of time is wasted on other things which are not really important for the course. Assignments should be like small individual assignments (>=exercises) that focus more on the course contents.»
- Lab 2. It seems very strange that a University like GU has assignments where the point is to simulate people drinking lots of beer and teach the workflow at a pub. The talk at the assignment sessions was in terms of how much people can drink and details in serving alcoholics. That could maybe take place in a student union"s group but not as a compulsory assignment in one of the university"s courses. This is nothing else than doing commercial for alcohol and totally unacceptable. Please think of everyone who have drinking problem or have a close relative or friend with such issues. It"s not very funny to be reminded from that at school. Question 2 on the exam was even worse. I personally was chocked and I couldn"t believe my eyes when I read the question. Using drugs which obviously kill people and the maintence of them on a University exam, that"s horrible and completely disgusting. I"m looking forward to hear the lecturer defend the choice of exam questions and labs!»

- It was a rather steep step to get started with the labs. Some more "getting started" help/instructions would had been good.»
- The cyclic barrier slides should be fixed to the simpler version ,) And the difference in difficulty between exams is significant so looking at the earlier exams scared the shit out of us. Maybe you should make sure that the difficulty level is more even.»

16. Additional comments

- The course is great, but I think there is not enough time to remember and define all aspects of concurrent programming. (May be it is the problem of education system in Sweden/Europe...)»
- Cremona hade inte beställt kurslitteraturen vid kursstart. »
- The course book was not available at Cremona until week 3-4, putting up the course web page LV1 would help people try to get hold of the book in other ways. No questions about the labs (why not?), so some thoughts here then: It would be better if lab (2 and) 3 could be made available a little earlier at the course web page. Sure, it was a small lab, but not everyone can sit at a computer waiting for it to show up and then use the rest of the week to complete it. Some people might have children and a lot of lectures wednesday-friday, and they wouldn"t have a chance to plan their time accordingly. Lab 2 was very fun!»

- The exam was a bit difficult comparing to old exams of this course! 4 hours is not enough to deal with such problems! Make it a bit easier or put some more reasonable theoretical questions!»
